  1. An ex employee of mine left her supposedly dead SWF that her GSD bitch had grabbed by the throat in the backyard and went out She came back and the dog was still alive, had deep punctures to the throat and was in shock but she pulled through. The GSD bitch went on 2 kill another SWF (that was on lead with it's owner) and badly injure another (same scenario). They gave their SWF away at a garage sale, luckily a current employee took her and they love her to bits. They kept the GSD bitch, she is still undesexed (cause she has papers you know) and there were no restrictions placed on them by the Council. It sickens me. I agree with Poodlefan she may be in shock or unconscious are you sure she is dead? Horrid situation when the owner comes home, a terrible way to die for the girl :D
  2. The pound needs to contact and warn the new owner asap so that the pup can get checked by a vet. If they are unaware of early symptoms it may be too late for the littley. How devastating for everyone involved Your little man looks like a Cody to me, I hope he makes it
  3. There are a lot of restrictions/plans/quarantine etc when animals are transferred to other zoos, this can take months or years. Zoo's must have the facilities and the room etc to house them and in this case it may have been too late for them. It is a truly disgraceful situation and no animals should suffer like that regardless

And just think they will be here soon Time to keep a very close eye on your pets
  5. Hi Christie, I know the rescue thread regularly has seniors looking for placement, maybe have a look in there and talk to a few of the experienced rescuers on their thoughts
  6. Our next dogs will be from registered breeders. I found my CASD's breeder on DOL and intend on getting another CASD pup in the future (couple of years away), we are also tossing up between a Peke, Boston Terrier or Bloodhound also in a few years they will also come from a Registered Breeder. I would really like a Caucasian Ovcharka in the future also but as there is none in Australia it would take years of research and truck loads of money to import one in. I have learnt so much from the Central Asian and I believe there will be one in our family forever. I do like the Caucasian, however they would require a very dedicated owner to the breed and would not suit a majority of homes so this would be a 10-15 year plan. .........if ever
  7. I believe that the 3 Pets at Home stores have been bought out by Petbarn so don't know if their affiliation with Lort Smith will continue or not as they will be a part of the Petbarn group.
  8. Your'e right Rozzie oops Maybe something a little less "peaceful and permanent"
  9. Our properties are Millbrook Springs and Glenview but are suited to the property themselves I like Forever Fields or Forever Farm
  10. No I don't think she would have personally as she obviously has had other litters and people like that tend to use whatever spare money they have on what they consider "necessary" for themselves rather than their pets. That may sound harsh but it is an all too common scenario for many people that hold no value of life, except their own
  11. This comment from one of her friends I am sure the 2-3 days that they spent in her home that they were well cared for To me she is a poor sorry case for a human being, if she felt "bad" she would have had a change of heart and went back to the bin to get them out. $200 may be a lot of money but she should have thought about that before the dog got pregnant AGAIN Disgraceful 10 March 2010 3:59 p.m. | Suggest removal » | Post reply » To all the people commenting on this. As a friend of Natasha's let me make sure you realize that Newspapers only write what they want you to read. Not the full story. I hate people who are cruel to animals. Makes me sick to the pit of my stomach.... BUT.... Natasha is a great person. I will start by saying that. Instead of getting on your highhorses, read the following. You're all full of assumptions, but some of the things written are either missing details, or are plain wrong. 1. She pleaded guilty because she knew she had done the wrong thing. Have any of you made mistakes in your lives? Or are you all perfect? 2. The pups were cared for, then she realized she couldnt look after them. VETS TURNED HER AWAY because she couldnt afford to get them put down. $200 is a lot of money, when you don't have it.... (the gold chain, a gift.... or are you all selfish and dont know what that is???? Say so.) 3. How about the guy who didnt make the papers??? He had a trial the same day, 10 counts of neglect. 10 pups stuck in a cage, full of a layer poo and wee with no food or water. He got a similar sentance, yet, he's nowhere to be seen in the newspaper. Funny that, seems like the system, including the paper's picking on the female not the males. To me, those pups suffered a lot worse than Natasha's pups..... 4. The bitch of the pups never suffered. Nor was she a novelty. She has always been treated like one of the family the whole time, cared for like any dog. 5. The clothes bin: The pups were in a fabric shopping bag, lined with a blanket, and left on top of the pile, flowing out of the bin. They were there for little under an hour.... Finally, for all those sitting high and mighty, who can find $2500+ at the drop of a hat. Nice. You can sit there and say all of these nasty things, but sit and think about if your bank account was nill or close to it, had a baby, one small income, a rental home and a bomb of a car......................................................... ............... If I came and slapped you a $2500 fine for something you had done wrong.... Would you learn your lesson?
  12. A simple sign that states No Unauthorised Entry Tresspassers Will Be Prosecuted Dogs on Premises is enough
  13. Thank you Blue Fairy I do have that Legislation I do not believe the Legislation that Diablo referrred to in fact exists since when does a child falling on a dog constitute provacation? Quote "Under SA legislation, it would be clear cut case of provocation. It makes no difference if the child fell onto the dog or intentionally pulled it's tail, the dog was mistreated and reacted." I just get frustrated when people make those kind of sweeping statements and do not follow them up with fact, uneducated people may read that and think that it minimises their own responsibilities in these cases on both sides. I understand that forums are all about peoples personal opinions but Diablo referred to Legislation that more than one person has asked to see. I have spoken to the right people and am under the belief that it isn't true and if I am to stand being corrected I would appreciate being educated.
  14. Poor child, if the dog was part of the furniture in the salon, why wasn't he even registered? Another irresponsible owner and now a dog with a Dangerous Dog Order put on it. The staff member should have been made responsible too if they had said toher mother ''you don't have to worry about the dog with kids, he's used to people''. Of course the parents should have been more responsible aslo. Diablo you were asked 4 times about the legislation that you mentioned which would have made the owner not responsible due to "provaction". I still haven't seen it. Quote Diablo Under SA legislation, it would be clear cut case of provocation. It makes no difference if the child fell onto the dog or intentionally pulled it's tail, the dog was mistreated and reacted. The dog has the right to sit in peace without being hurt or startled by misadventure. Because the victim was a defenceless child, doesn't make the dog anymore at fault in the circumstances.
  15. Maybe you need to post a photo of Troy posing to get the bids happening
  16. Will they have to change his name to Knutless or Knutsnomore or noKnuts
  17. I agree with Lilli, you need to get the pups under control before you start letting one sleep in the 10 (or 11) year olds room especially if you are having issues with fighting and growling. Boundaries need to be set and you don't want the pup to start having any more issues than they seem to have already, get control of the fighting/aggression issue first.
  18. Well I don't know how many people would actively look for the cross I saw in the trading post today ........ Sharpei x Shih tzu I thought De Shonko kennels had been advertising out of DOL
  19. This is where CC's need to pull their head out and no wonder people don't always support registered breeders when ones like these and the one in the puppy thread behave like they do.
  20. Take a look at this site, I have used their products with success for a broken vertebrae on a joey, one for seizures and my little dog has had success with the Congestive Heart Failure formula. I don't advocate natural medicines normally but these have really helped me lately, when I was told there was no hope Holistic Animal Medicines Degenerative Spine
  21. Not a dog and cat, but a kangaroo and dog and a really crappy pic but I do love my girls This is Daisy my very special joey, who has severe anxiety issues (due to seizures when younger) and Shannon my 10 year old pom cross who has just been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. Daisy adores her and just gently holds her face and washes her tear stains. Shannon loves all baby animals and is so gentle, she especially loves chicks and kittens
  22. MTE small dog owners do have that security, especially in this case - KEEP YOUR SMALL DOG OUT OF THE BIGGER DOGS YARD. I have a 5kg pom cross and a very large CASD and I keep them both safe by confining them to my property.
  23. yes we bought 2 frenches off them the first one which came first about 2 weeks ago i noticed was scraching her ears so took to my vet and she had an infection all fixed why isnt there vet picking these things up thats shocking thanks SwaY I read the same as Pers, Beladoza do you have 2 pups from the breeder? If so did the one you had already come in contact with the new one when it arrived? How is the little parvo pup doing? It would be a horribly stressful time for you
  24. So by paying the $300 for a breeders license then they can be advertised (albeit not really correctly) as selling puppies from registered breeders. That will be confusing for consumers.
