Pickles' issue is a scar in her brain... it's not likely to get worse... or better. She walks like a marionette, but can run like a bullet... *grin* The thing with dogs is that they don't look at these things the way we do, they just enjoy the life and love they have from their families... and that's just fine too. I know that Pickles' mobility issues mean that she has developed musculature that allows her to be as mobile as she is, but that sometime down the track her walking style may take it's toll... until then all I can do is love my little Spastic Camp Dog... she so loves life! *must remember puppy squirts and vom-bombs and destructo chewing* Wait a minute I have one of those already! She's 30kgs and 2 years old... errr! Just imagine all the nasty habits she could teach a little brother or sister... "hey kid, Mum loves it when you bring an especially nasty poopie in from outside and proceed to chew it into little pieces in the hall"... T. -

Jill, talk to lillypilly... she had a great relationship with Wollondilly pound and can tell you who the right people to talk to there are. On several occasions they would even go so far as to deliver dogs to us... T.

I suppose in the end it is the VET's decision whether to euth an animal or not... and maybe it's not the vet NURSE's position to give certain advice to the client T.

Maybe Nova can have a few extra hours of alone time more often now... it's not like the bubs will starve... *grin* T. -
Vets don't HAVE to do any procedure they don't want to do - there are no laws stating they have to euth animals just because a customer wants the dog gone. A good vet would discuss and try to convince the owners of their many other options that don't involve such a final disposal of their pet. T.

Not much nastier than puppy squirties is there Allerzeit? Especially at this age when you are trying to keep them all as warm and dry as possible... Crossing fingers that it's just too much of a good thing, and the cultures come up negative for any yukky stuff. T. -
Have you ever felt the urge to see if Trouble likes bacon? *norty me* T.

Important Request For Allerzoit And Grumpette

I told my Mum about these gorgeous babies and that when I was ready to have another puppy that I'd be contacting Allerzeit.... and she didn't do her usual "you don't need another dog" routine... I suppose that the fact we were marvelling over the amazingly gorgeous and well tempered 10 week old ACD pup my cousin had just got from a great registered breeder might have had something to do with my mother realising that a pedigree pup from a good breeder would be a good thing... The local vet I go to refuses to euth perfectly healthy dogs unless the issue they present with is untreatable - ie. extreme DA or HA problems. T.

Run free Angel... you now have the wings to go with the name sweet thing... T.

Yeah, but do ALL of his girlfriends have two legs... or four? T.

Every time I look at pet insurance for my 4 dogs, the cost is quite prohibitive - but now that 2 of my dogs are over 9 years old, and most won't start a new policy on a dog of that age.... it could narrow things down a bit... Then again, my 4 year old dog has a mobility issue that may make her uninsurable - even though I can prove she's only been to a vet twice for any procedure - once for an xray on a suspected broken leg (yes it was, but did not require surgery), and once to be desexed. She is an exceptionally healthy specimen if I do say so myself... The horse puppy is 2 years old, and has also only been to the vet twice for anything out of the ordinary - once to be desexed, and once for a bee sting that she had a reaction to. She also seems to be a pretty healthy specimen... *grin* Maybe it would be smarter of me to put aside something regularly to save for anything going wrong, rather than forking out to an insurance company who may or may not reimburse when the crunch comes... *needs to stop dribbling* A whole lot of handsome AND he loves his dogs! He's taken, isn't he? T.

But does the average punter looking for a dog know how to do that? T.

Marcus is serious eye-candy, that's for sure... lol! T.
-
The thing that most people looking for animals wants is something Petrescue refuses to do... allow searching by breed/breed-mix... Exclusions are a good first step in the direction of making the matching better - but until people can enter a breed or breed mix, then it's still going to confuse the hell out of the average punter. Wicked!!! T.

Well done Neko, Arkey, and Widget... and the gorgeous Marcus too... might have thrown in some extra points for the most handsome handler... lol! T.

Jack Russell Puppy Behaviour - Normal?
tdierikx replied to *kirty*'s topic in General Dog Discussion
They can be feisty from my experience, but they are also very smart and trainable... consistencey is the key, and remembering that it's not cute or funny for small dogs to be aggressive towards larger dogs. T.
