A Donation Button Next To Our Dogs On Petrescue
tdierikx replied to _PL_'s topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
What if... instead of the blurb near the Donate button saying... "PetRescue is a not-for-profit organisation. We rely wholly on the kindness of pet lovers like you to help us save lives. Please donate today." ... we add one little word to it... "PetRescue is a not-for-profit organisation. We rely wholly on the kindness of pet lovers like you to help us help save lives. Please donate today." I understand that PetRescue does a whole lot more than just host a site where rescues can showcase their adoptables - but that IS what draws the public to the site, yes? And maybe they actually look at more of what you offer once they are there... or not... Wording is everything, and I find that a lot of the wording regarding who PetRescue are and what they do is a little ambiguous when read by someone not involved in the industry (read rescue) - it does look like the words have been carefully chosen to have that effect... blurring the lines between PetRescue being both a resource for rescue AND an entity that develops campaigns to raise awareness of the plight of so many homeless animals needing homes Australia-wide. Joe Public definitely reads much of what is there as PetRescue actually being the rehoming service for the animals on the site - not as a resource for the actual rescues that showcase their animals there. I've had a number of non-rescue-affiliated friends look over the site and tell me what they think it is about... and they have ALL thought that PetRescue IS the rescue group that is offering the animals up for adoption. Just saying... T. -
I love both photos for their different aspects - but anything with Trouble in it gets my vote too. T.

A Donation Button Next To Our Dogs On Petrescue
tdierikx replied to _PL_'s topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
In all fairness, PetRescue is providing a free space on the internet for all reputable rescues to advertise their animals. As well as that basic premise, they are paying for upkeep of the site, bandwidth to keep the site up and fast, advertising campaigns, etc, etc... If they have to ask for donations from the public in order to provide rescue with this FREE service, then where they place their Donate button is up to them, yes? I'm not sure that Joe Public fully reads or understands the wording describing who PetRescue are, or what they do, and could be mistaken in believing that their donations are going towards the actual animals/rescue groups who advertise there. In some places the wording is a little ambiguous - but then again, that's not my call either. T. -
At least he chewed his treats... my Lab would have just swallowed them whole... lol! T.

From the look of Filly, Neko has a few more years to catch up in the obedience stakes... lol! T.

 I agree, although I must admit, Dolly is very cute. It was funny, I had quite alot of people come up to me on the day and ask "is this Neko?" One lady also told me she was walking her (very pretty, little seal) IG in a suburban park in Melb and a couple hurried up to her and asked if it was Neko. She said no, she wished it was. It seems my little girl is famous. Even if the judges dont like her, the public does. Here's the lady's little IG who was mistaken for Neko. Her name if Filly. She's smaller than Neko and very sweet. 5F6A6464dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Would it be mean of me to say that this dog is very pretty, but still not a patch on our gorgeous Neko? T.

Vets That Work With Rescue - Parts Of Nsw
tdierikx replied to Mila's Mum's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Rossmore Vet Clinic at Rossmore will work with rescue - not so far from Campbelltown area, and they are excellent vets. Talk to Ted or Robert about setting up an account. References from your current vet clinics indicating that you pay your bills on time, etc, will be a good idea. T. -

I know! She's teasing us so much! T. -
I spent some of my teen years up in that area - our dog was smart and steered clear of snakes, and he was pretty much immune to ticks... but he was born and raised a country dog. City raised dogs don't tend to have the same innate "smarts" when it comes to the strange things they encounter in the country. I must say though, when Mum would get on the mower, the dog would follow her around to get eat the remains of the Death Adders she'd intentionally run over. He never ate the head part though... smart dog that! Us kids would have to go up to the orchard and collect any snake heads so that other wildlife weren't tempted to eat them. T.

Swoon-worthy photos are on Facebook... I'm still loving Yellow girl... *sigh* T. -
Hahahaha! Shame Puck, shame! I'd just clean up what I could and then invest in a nice little rug to cover the rest... but I'm just lazy... lol! T.

Pickles tries to get them, but her mobility issues and lack of coordination mean that she hasn't caught anything to date. Zeddy and Trouble (Lab) are content to leave them be. Harper tells them to get out of her yard, but doesn't try to kill them. T.

Definitely fencing to contain the dogs will be a must... if they roam and harass any animals they will be shot... no warnings. Tick prevention will also be necessary pretty much all year round. Keep grassed areas short and make sure water bowls are elevated to deter snakes coming in to find water when it gets hot. T.

Gorgeous photos grizabella... as always! T.

What is encouraging is that the fire only consumed 20ha more overnight - and a portion of that would have been back burns... firies are tops! T.

The fire has burnt almost 60 hectares. Current Situation Easing conditions overnight have allowed crews to conduct backburning between Greens Road and Florabella Street. This will continue throughout the morning, with increased smoke and fire activity visible through the area. More than 220 firefighters continue to work on the fire. ------------------------------------- Last night's southerly buster was pretty ferocious - very windy conditions, even though it was much cooler. Hats off to the brave men and women out there fighting the fire! T.
