Well - this "little" miss is certainly not a Whippet cross, and not 4 months old either. Her teeth indicate that she's finished at least her first teething stage, so she'd probably be around 6 months old. And the fact that she's already the height of a fully grown Whippet - with obviously more growing to do judging by her feet and wrists - I'm thinking she's most likely a Greyhound cross. She looks very Greyhound in shape except for her ears. She is great with people - especially if you have treats - instant best friend forever... lol! She also takes the treats very gently without any snapping. She is not so sure about my lot, so far she's growled and lunged at Pickles and Zeddy, and won't go near Trouble at all. I'm reserving judgement until tomorrow though, as we did arrive home late and she hasn't had much time to settle properly. She growled at me when I patted her while she was eating too, but I think that can be fixed pretty easily. I have her in a huge crate in my lounge room right now, and my girls have been going in and bumping noses with her every now and then with no growling from either party - so hoping she'll settle and get into the swing of things soonish. She doesn't mind the crate at all, and has settled down for a sleep. She travels brilliantly in the car - no vomiting or whining - always a big plus. T.

It's not only Adelaide councils that won't come unless the animal is "restrained or contained"... there are some in Sydney who are exactly the same - don't want to actually have to look for and catch the stray themselves. T.

Maybe Plan B's behaviourist can be put in touch with sas's behaviourist - then they can discuss together what they each assessed in this dog... and why... Much as I love the big boofers, if there is any worry at all about his predictability or nature, I'd be very leery about taking him on... T.

What I love about my local vet is that they get really excited if I bring them a sample to test for things they don't see very often... like coccidia... The joys of having foster pups... lol! ... and the fact that my dogs, no matter how sick or injured they may be, go into raptures of delight as soon as they see their 2 fave vets... sometimes it's hard to explain that they weren't feeling very well at all when we left home... *grin* T.

I started going to my local vet the very first day I moved here... the bloody dogs had a fight and one needed treatment. They were awesome from day one, and I recommend them to anyone who asks. My dogs only see the 2 vets that have known them since they were pups, because that is my preference and I have a great rapport with those particular 2 vets. The clinic is now owned by Greencross, but the staff are all the same caring and wonderful people we've gotten to know over the years. They also will do consults for my fosters for free if I need something. My rescue fosters normally use Rossmore Vets - and they are awesome - all of the staff are brilliant with our rescue dogs, and the senior vets are amongst the best surgeons I've come across in general practice. OK - they can kill an animal legally, but can't desex it?? Makes heaps of sense... not! Can't rehome a dead animal... T. -
Urgent Need For Foster Carers
tdierikx replied to Perry's Mum's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Those photos are eye opening... but at least the dogs don't appear to have their spirits broken. They look like they are going to really enjoy the love and attention from their carers while they wait for their forever homes. Awesome job to all involved in rescuing these munchkins - I take my hat off to you all! T. -
OMG!!!! Zeebo is totally adorable! Can you please give her a cuddle from me? T.

Need Before And After Pics! Warning Graphic Images May Upset
tdierikx replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Now you see why I hid them in a Spoiler... May I ask that if you use them, that you give credit to NSW Animal Rescue (www.nswar.org.au) for them? Unfortunately Minnie wasn't microchipped when she was picked up by the ranger, so tracking down the owner and prosecuting wasn't going to happen... *sigh* T.
