  1. Thanks heaps Snowysal... Rupert is currently in rescue in South West Sydney. There is a Foxhound breeder nearby who has come out and identified him and who he most likely was bred by... unfortunately his original breeder doesn't seem too interested in him - but the breeder we are in contact with is also trying to help find him a home. His age is around 12 months apparently. He is a big dopey sooky lala... but he is definitely ruled by his nose... *grin* Any tips to get him to be a little more responsive would be gratefully accepted - although I suspect that once he's fully settled about his new surroundings, we should see some quick results - he really is quite play focused... T.
  2. Dump the boyfriend and get a dog... she can sue for her share of the house/property... from experience it's worth the hassle. T.
  3. Make yer own dogmad - will be heaps cheaper - and you can design yer own... lol! T.
  4. Rupert is still with our rescue, and there are some very wonderful Foxhound breeders trying to help us find the right home for him. He's a little hyper and untrained, so he's getting lots of love and attention from everyone at the rescue, and is making good progress towards the "good boy" inside that bouncy untrained big puppy... *grin* If anyone familiar with Foxhounds knows of an experienced home for him, please feel free to call NSW Animal Rescue (website address has the phone number www.nswar.org.au ) T.
  5. I think I'm gonna join the Phoebe fan club... she is simply divine!! T.
  6. O... K... *backs away from that link very slowly* T.
  7. Ensal (from your vet) is good for firming up loose or runny stools... how big are your babies? T.
  8. My guess would be sudden heart failure due to a defect, or a brain aneurism... both not totally unknown in Rotties and other large breeds. Good breeding practices usually lessen the risks of either of those though. The exact same thing happened to my friend's Rottie when we were at school, he was walking across the lounge room and suddenly just dropped dead on the floor - it was an aneurism. Did you vet check the dog's brain? T.
  9. I got 100% - but my brother has an assistance dog... so I should know the answers... *grin* I did have to think hard on a couple of them though... T.
  10. My vet of long standing will allow me an account if I don't have the money up front - but they know that I'm good for it through years of knowing me and my dogs. Other options are definitely using the credit card or getting a loan, and my mum is always happy to front money for my dogs if needed... but I pay her back too... *grin* My fosters are covered by the rescue that I foster for, and I take them to their preferred vet unless it's an emergency (my vet is closer). T.
  11. Sheets and towels sourced from Vinnies... easy to wash... T.
  12. My Mum said she got a cold call from the RSPCA asking for donations today... and when she told them that her daughter is a foster carer for private rescue, they hung up on her! Funnily enough, they did the exact same thing to me a couple of weeks ago... T.
  13. I was particularly taken with Lucy's kisses graysmum... she is so sweet and gentle... I was very tempted to just take her home myself... BTW... Tom Williams looks better on TV... but maybe the bedraggling Sydney weather didn't have him looking his absolute best... *grin*... I was tempted to yell "get yer shirt off", but good sense got the better of me... lol! I think Tim from PetRescue is a bit of a babe actually... what do you reckon girls? T.
  14. I'm definitely seeing Rotti in his head - and a magnificent head he has too! Lots of Lab in there also... The speckling on his feet and the white patch on his chest are throwing me though. One of his parents definitely had Lab and/or Rotti... with something else somewhere in the mix, but I can't really pick what... *grin* T.
  15. We had a pretty wet one in Sydney - but all of the dogs were perfectly behaved and excellent mascots for rescue - not to mention great advertisements for their foster carers' love and kindness. I had me lots of cuddles and got to spread the word about rescue - and the rain didn't seem to dampen anyone's spirits all morning. A big thanks to Pedigree, PetRescue (especially Tim in Sydney), all the people behind the scenes, and the wonderful carers and rescuers who brought their perfect dogs out to meet the public - I think we all managed to get a few people thinking about rescue for their future pet choices... yay! For those not aware of who Tom Williams is - he's the cutie that ripped his shirt off on Dancing With The Stars a couple of years ago... quite the tasty morsel if I do say so myself... *grin* T.
  16. Ask her how much she thinks the pound will give her for the pup... in fact, tell her that they may well charge HER a fee for surrendering the dog to them... then suggest that maybe if she really believes that you'll give/find the dog a good home, then she'll give her dog to you... T.
  17. The law states that Guide dogs are to be allowed entry everywhere their human needs to go... sadly, this doesn't translate to other Assistance dogs - there are no laws to make them as "accepted" as Guide dogs in public areas. That said - some establishments, and even some public transport, have been known to refuse entry to a Guide dog. Seen it myself... T.
  18. Would you believe that the pound he found himself in had him listed as a Pointer? Rupert is safe with rescue, but we haven't had a lot of luck tracking down his breeder. If we can't get hold of them, or they don't want him back, he will be desexed and looking for a new home. Until then he will be getting plenty of attention and playtime with the volunteers and staff at the rescue... *grin* T.
  19. He's definitely a clown... and loves a good cuddle and play... T.
  20. And a couple more for good measure... T.
  21. OK - some photos of me playing with Rupert... T.
  22. Easy Thumbnails is another really good resizing program - and it's also free. The bulk resizing options are perfect for when you have a lot of files to resize at once too... T.
  23. My brother's assistance dog has never been refused from entering any establishment... and if it's a restaurant, he usually gets asked if the dog will be dining too - and they will bring a bowl of food for the dog if he's allowed to eat whatever they are serving. Most of the time the dog will happily curl up under my brother's chair - you wouldn't even know he was there. T.
  24. GardenofEden - you might like to go back to the original post and have another read... the dogs do not belong to the OP, but to a workmate. The OP feels they can only handle the two dogs that don't require extra surgical procedures... and that's a whole lot better than sitting back and doing nothing... T.
