  1. As above looking for contact details for Collie rescue. I always used to contact Judy about Collies in need, but I am on holiday at the moment and don't have access to any information. Dog is located just outside Canberra.
  2. I use Nuheart, they are the cheapest I have found, and while not a chewable, they are meat flavoured and can be disguised in food or dissolved in water.
  3. Oh good on you! George is a lucky boy to land at chez Woofter!
  4. I can only add brisket bones to persephone's list.
  5. Only just caught up with this thread and wanted to add my good wishes! Hope your girl is improving all the time, teekay! What a wonderful resource DOL is, the combined knowledge of all the members make this forum a stand out! Thank you Troy!!
  6. Swings of 20% against the State government in local elections, plus rumours of a leadership spill. People are pissed off with heavy handed government, the forced council amalgamations have only reinforced people's opinions. In country areas the ban is seen as a decision made purely for city folks....there are now more people against the ban than for it.
  7. Big headline front page of the Telegraph this morning: Baird Government to overturn greyhound racing ban!!!!!
  8. If the online ads are still active, it's possible they want the dog back because they have been offered a better price. If you have paid for the dog she is legally yours, I presume you asked for a receipt? Oh just read back in the thread and have seen you do not have a receipt Be careful, if you decide to return the dog ask them to deposit the funds into your bank account and only return the dog when the funds are cleared. Also, have you sighted the dog's paperwork? Is she theirs to sell? Be particularly mindful that in a court of law, the person to whom the dog is microchipped is not always deemed to be the legal owner.
  9. it is definitely not a probiotic...and a softer poo at night time (after a sleep the poo is mostly a little bit softer as there is less compaction due to muscle usage) is nothing that point to digestion issues in the first place. Dogs get older, metabolism can change and so the periods between poo ime... What does this mean? Usage of which muscles influence poo softness? for most people (and dogs ...) sports or another activity where they use their core muscles (stomach / back) will result in 'compacting' the intestines, plus there is the impact of a more efficient metabolism due to a higher energy demand - both will normally result in a firmer stool. Conversely, the poo is likely less firm after a rest / sleep phase when the body relaxed for a longer period - of course, it will also depend on the health state of the organism, fitness level and the type and amount of food. I don't agree with this at all! Exercise keeps me regular - the doggies too! Too much inactivity gives rise to a sluggish bowel and constipation.
  10. I don't want to scare you, but mandibular osteosarcoma can initially present as reluctance to chew bones......months before any lumps appear on the jaw, when it is already too late....... because this insidious cancer metastasises to the lungs first. Agree with going back to the vet and being more persistent.
  11. I am easy to satisfy..... another Kelpie, black and tan, black, or red and white; another one, if not more, Groenendaels; a Laekenois to save the variety; a Collie Smooth, and my childhood dream of an Irish Setter (the neighbour's had one in the early Seventies) :D
  12. I saw this verse on a card in the newsagent the other day, Mad Woofter, and immediately thought of you and dear Fleming! 'Such lovely eyes on the face of the sky, Watching with love as our lives go by. Blinking and winking in a code of their own, A message from our dearest - that we're not alone.' Kate Knapp
  13. Ellz, just get your son to show the client any dog hair stuck to freshly painted surfaces, he will soon put the dog away, especially if there is any stuck to glossy surfaces  I honestly can't believe anyone would allow a dog to run around with painters working, paint is a magnet for dog hair.... especially if you have any Shepherd breeds
  14. I know of a case where a pig farmer was convicted of feeding roadkill to pigs...but that is a different matter entirely.
  15. I see a lot of freshly killed kangaroos on the road particularly early in the morning. I've always thought it a waste of good meat but it's not a good look for someone driving a taxi to get out of their vehicle wielding a knife The roo pet meat sold through outlets such as Petbarn, Costco, and reputable pet shops has actually been processed at the abbatoirs so you know the meat has been checked for parasites. Sometimes you might see green dye in it. I once bought roo meat from a less than reputable outlet and it was obvious the shop owner had acquired it direct from the shooters. It came complete with the odd cigarette butt and beer bottle top
  16. Christina, cooked, mashed pumpkin is a wonderful filler to satiate starving dogs without them putting on weight :)
  17. I came to the capsules late, Thistle, I had success with the tea which I gave twice daily, so I can't really comment. However, regarding the capsules I would probably give one twice daily, although if you read back in this thread BC Crazy says she had Stella on two caps broken into her dinner at night. It's just a case of trial and error. Marles is now on incurin, as the corn silk is no longer effective. After a long haul we are now down to half a tablet every four days, but for ages we were stuck on half a tablet per day which I wasn't happy with at all. Interestingly, since she has been having chiropractic sessions she is much improved and I have been able to reduce the dose. Her chiropractic vet does not think it is the actual manipulation which has caused the turn around, but more likely that her feeling of wellbeing has increased.
  18. Yes I use Nuheart, it is cheap and I just put the tablet on their food. I buy it from Vet n Pet Direct. I use Fenpral for intestinal worming 3x per year, it seems to be easier on the gut than Drontal.
  19. Rose hip vital doesn't work for my dogs but works for me!
  20. Is Badger not registered with Council? What microchip registry do they put dogs on in WA? Both mine are on NSW CAR and AAR, the latter being a nationwide registry - the one that Boronia mentioned.
  21. Just popped in to say "Keep going girls!" and was totally impressed by the weekly offerings! Some great shots here and more importantly, I am bowled over by your commitment. You are well and truly on the home run now
  22. I feed everything thawedâ˜ș My two prefer their food at room temperature and are not gutses so I have no need to slow them down.
