  1. Our hound came up with a severe allergic reaction to something all over his stomach and chest - still have no idea what caused it but the vet gave him an injection and it gradually cleared up. Glad your dog is recovering OK - it can be very scary.
  2. Will give Trevor a ring this week and see what I can do about pinning down some dates
  3. I had to take ours down because the kelpie got too obsessed with it - she loved it and we didn't put food in it after the first couple of times. the hound sed to mouth the rope in a half hearted kind of way. I ended up giving it to friends who have a BC pup to try with him.
  4. I have used Golden Grove Boarding kennels for our kelpie and bloodhound and have been very happy with them. Here is the link to their website Their website
  5. Just been thinking about this as - having a kelpie and a bloodhound - they have totally different facial expressions and i find Earl (bloodhound) always strikes me as looking sad. I know that this is not the case but the kelpie seems to be easier to read. Anyone else find this? Edited for spelling (I'm on holidays - think my brain is too :))
  6. No date yet - have spoken to Trevor though who has put things into motion for us - will give him a ring this week and see how it's going
  7. I walk a male bloodhound and a female kelpie and the kelpie is definitely a bitch in more ways than gender
  8. The number on the web page is 0414838087 - might try for a Sunday in the next few weeks if people are interested - 17 th June or 24 th June work for me :) have just spoken to Trevor - he is going to try to arrange for time on a sat at about 11 till 1230 for us - maybe even every 2 nd Saturday - because Sundays are flat out with the greyhounds. He may need someone to operate the return lure to help out. Watch this thread - will update info / dates etc as it comes to hand - may start new thread if needed :)
  9. I use Golden Grove Boarding kennels This is their site for my kelpie and bloodhound and they have been fantastic. My 2 are going for another visit on the next school holidays. I know of at least one other DOLer who has also used these kennels and been happy with them.
  10. This is why I have my 2 kenneled next to each other - but in separate runs - and exercised together - I think that with a confined space nd no place to get space from each other there coud be issues. ours are used to being crated separately at night.
  11. When we board our 2 they are kenelled next to each other and only socialise with each other - they get a decent run together each day and come home contented - the last time Rosie was boarded alone as Earl was boarded at the vet due to medical issues and she fretted for him. I like them to be in seperate runs as I think being in a confined space together would be too much - but I do like them to have time together.
  12. Dammit - I was so hoping to hear good news - run free sweetheart
  13. I'll be at the Group Class if he has rescheduled - will have the feral kelpie.
  14. dammit - I would love to offer earl - come to Adelaide
  15. Leema - i have one of the "Google for an Oodle" stickers -if you PM your address I will pop it in the post for you :)
  16. Hi- as others have said I had Mark out to work with us when our Bloodhound started showing some signs of aggression - and again when the kelpie showed some snappiness. Both times he was very calm and matter of fact and very clear about why the behaviour was occuring and what we needed to do to address it. He worked with all of the members of the family and was very patient with my 13 year old son - working through his behaviour with the kelpie with him. He clearly identified with Earl (bloodhound) why he was showing the signs of aggression and demonstrated that Earl actually was quite submissive and we needed to be calm, confident and consistent with him. I cuurently take the kelpie (reactive to other dogs) to his group socialisation class and have watched him work with a variety of dogs with different intensity of behaviour and am taking Earl this SUnday. I would have absolutely no hesitation with reccomending him . ETA - feel free to PM if you have any questions.
  17. My 2 love it - I compare it to watching an elephant and a gazelle  The kelpie goes for the front legs till the bloodhound falls over
  18. Cheers - just bought 2 for mine - here's hoping they don't find them tasty
  19. Earl has an XXL crate and it fits him fine - he actually runs to his crate at night waiting for his biscuit  He is in a metal crate but we also have a soft one which he used till he did a Houdini out of it early one night by breaking the zip We fixed the zip but for my own peace of mind we bought a wire one
  20. I have a pair of track pants with cargo pockets that I wear when I walk the dogs - nice big pockets for treats - lumpy thighs but the dogs don't care *L*
  21. I swear that if I had watched Ice Age before I got the feral kelpie she would have been Scrattay - after the pointy nosed little squiirel character. She looks so much like it. She has the rather boring name of Rosie and the slightly more interesting call name at times 0f "b*tch face pointy nose" The Bloodhound is "My Name is Earl" - call name Earl - often - for some reason - Hurlus
  22. My brother imported a white boxer from a breeder in NZ - he has to put sunscreen on him and he has to put 'doggles' - dog goggles - on him on sunny days because of his blue eye
