  1. I'm so glad to read that he's improving, I've been a bit of a wimp, and was afraid to visit this thread.
  2. I'm wary of all dogs no matter what breed if my whippets and I dont know them. I go to an off lead park but I frequently put my dogs on the lead if I see certain dogs up ahead, it might be because I dont know them, or that I do know them, generally the latter is because my boys would chase their dogs given the chance. I will soon be taking my Italian Greyhound puppy to the park and I dont know that I'll even let her off the lead at all. Certainly not for a while anyway. That said, there's a regular group who walk there in the mornings and all the dogs know each other. You wouldn't see a more varied mix of dogs from tiny Poms to a Wolfhound cross and all walk off lead together. It's not unusual to see 25 dogs or more strolling along off lead in the group. The livelier playful ones peel off themselves to play with each other and the shyer ones just stay closer to their owners. I'll probably take my puppy along sometimes on those walks to socialise her.
  3. Get a Bathing Cap, you're into the 50's pin up look aren't you? They wore them back then.
  4. I love the first one most of all!
  5. Lovely dogs, and well trained too I bet. how'd you go at the competition?
  6. I never knew there was such a thing. I hope you've nailed the problem.
  7. It doesn't say the complaint was from a vigilante group who entered the property illegally. Does anyone here know how the complaint was made?
  8. thankyou. I agree with you, but I'm delighted you can see it in her too. :D I look at her and she reminds me of an Arabian foal and I cannot believe how beautiful she is.
  9. Standardbreds often make great trail riding horses too because they're fast walkers and some amble, which is frowned on my many and I dont know why, it's the fastest smoothest gait to sit to. I loved it when my horses occasionally ambled. It's a bit like the gaited horses in the US, covers the ground quickly and smoothly.
  10. what happened to the dog from the last series?
  11. I took this photo years ago and thought it wasn't very good because I missed the whippet. Doh! If only by kirislin, on Flickr Then Serena, of Rocco and Ralph fame sent me a PM with the same photo after she'd edited it. At the time I didn't know how to save photos and thought I'd lost her version, but going back through my old messages, I found it!!! She's so clever and artistic, and I must give full credit to her for seeing something in the photo that I couldn't. Jodie Harley whippet by kirislin, on Flickr
  12. it is a clam shell. I originally got them for Tag the whippet until the frogs laid their eggs in them so they became ponds. the dogs still play in them though.
  13. thanks JackC She obviously hasn't read the IGGY manual that says they dont like water. 5F6A0028dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0022dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0018dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A0013dppt by kirislin, on Flickr I hope she doesn't grow out of it.
  14. what a horrible thing to go through. Have they stitched his stomach so it wont happen again?
  15. she's 13 weeks old today! 5F6A9975dppt by kirislin, on Flickr she's got a mouthful of Pagans hair. She reminds me so much of a little pony herself 5F6A9997dppt by kirislin, on Flickr
  16. cant see the tick but paralysis ticks have an pale greenish tinge to them.
  17. I've got a rescue Italian Greyhound here at the moment who has had this operation. He's owned by a DOLer and came to her with his ball joint already removed so she's not sure of his history, but I suspect he had Legg Perthes disease as it's known in IG's. Anyway, he carries his leg alot, but he also uses it quite a bit. I think it hurts him sometimes, but I'm guessing it was much worse before he had the joint removed. Overall he leads a happy life and doesn't require medication for it.
  18. Thanks T, I I know they weren't very good photos, but I had to capture it even though it was in shadow and harsh sunlight just so I could show what happened.
  19. It's a struggle, especially when you have vets bills that can amount to anything really. As far as food, that part doesn't cost much considering the number of dogs I'm currently feeding, but I buy things on special or just cheap. Example, I dont feed my dogs treats, but last week I bought an ox heart for $5 and dried it myself to use as training treats for my puppy. Today I bought 4 bags of chicken carcasses, 2 per bag for $1 per bag. I just fed all the dogs for tea and I still have 2 bags left, so it cost me $2 to feed 9 dogs! (I'm looking after some extras at the moment) I also bought a pumpkin for $1 per kilo that will be going into tomorrows cook up along with some silver beet a friend gave me and assorted other vegies that I got on special. As for myself, I dont smoke, rarely drink and dont go out much in a social sense. My clothes are pretty old and daggy too and I wear cheap shoes. Oh, and I just thought of something funny I've been doing of late to get greens into my diet. There's a weed, I dont know what it is, but I think it's in the mustard family, you often see it growing on the roadside, it has bristly leaves and yellow flowers. My dogs love it so I got some seeds and started growing some myself. I made risotto last night and wanted to add greens so I picked some of the weed to add to it. Delish! And organic too.
  20. My cute, innocent Neko has so much to learn. I gave her a piece of lamb rib for lunch but it was too hard for her, well so she thought, so she decided to stash it for later. It's the first time I've seen her bury anything. She dug a big hole, while Peanut watched on, and as soon as she'd finished burying it Peanut stepped in and helped herself. Neko watched her eat it but didn't seem to make the connection until about 5 minutes later that it was actually her bone. I'd already gone inside and then heard her bark in a way I'd not heard before. An alarm bark woo woo woo woo! woo woo woo woo! woo woo woo woo! and on it went when she realised she'd been robbed. Poor baby. no one will ever find it here! 5F6A9963dppt by kirislin, on Flickr It's a secret, I've hidden my bone right where Peanut is but she'll never find it, I can have it later, that's a good idea isn't it. 5F6A9965dppt by kirislin, on Flickr It's like taking candy from a baby thinks Peanut to herself. 5F6A9966dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Oh! you have a bone just like mine! 5F6A9970dppt by kirislin, on Flickr What just happened? 5F6A9971dppt by kirislin, on Flickr
  21. Marcus says that chicken is in for a whole world of pain, she doesn't know what she's started. I told him Neko started it. I dont think I'd trust Neko like I can with the whippets somehow.
  22. what about a lovely doggy calendar for the clinic?
  23. Thankyou for all the cyber cuddles and kisses, they're are definitely being passed on in real life. It's not just the whippets she gives hell to, she is very cheeky with the chickens and sneaks up behind them and pulls their bloomers, then when they turn to give chase she runs away. Well today Blondie got her revenge. Neko wriggled under a pallet I use to put pot plants on. It's a tight squeeze and she thought it would be funny to ambush Blondie. Clearly she didn't think this one through  Boo Blondie! Boo yourself you little brat! 5F6A9934dppt by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A9936dppt by kirislin, on Flickr so who's laughing now? 5F6A9937dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Peck! that's for all the times you've pulled my feathers! 5F6A9939dppt by kirislin, on Flickr apologise you little brat! 5F6A9938dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Mummeeeeeeee! helppppp! 5F6A9940dppt by kirislin, on Flickr
