Like the caption I saw the other day. I dont know, the bed just sort of............exploded.

I see this alot at a girlfriends place, she's a groomer and some of the poor dogs that come in would break your heart. All felted up like that and the owners say they've been grooming but then he got wet, or they left him with friends for a couple of days and he wasn't brushed, all lies. She shears it off as you've done, and underneath it's crawling with fleas. She sees their dew claws and even other toe nails curled round imbedded into their legs, sometimes with the dew claws it's difficult to tell which end to cut! She tells the owners and they go Oh.......I wondered why he was limping. or I wondered why he was licking it all the time. One time she had a woman ring up with an emergency, she needed to get her dog clipped right away because he couldn't poo. His bottom had closed over with matted poo and fur. After they're all clipped off, flea bathed and dried they cavort around like puppies, it must feel so good to them.

Maybe her previous employment was with Maccas, do you want fries with that? Old habits die hard, dog food purchase, do you want puppies with that?
-
Yeah, I figured that was what was really going on, but it looks like he's saying phwoar! check out that bitch!

I've managed to train my whippets not to chase the parrots. They've learnt to differentiate between the cockies and other birds. I allow them to hunt the cockies off because they're destructive, but the know the parrots aren't to be chased.

 Yes, if everytime a bloke went through the checkout with a pack of condoms, the operator said "oh condoms, are you interested in having sex with me?"
-
Call me an optimist, but it's my hope that I will be able to train my whippets not to kill my chooks, I hope some day to be able to let them free range together, under supervision of course. Little steps, today the chooks have had a little walk around while the whips were inside. 5F6A1988dppt by kirislin, on Flickr Read the posts here and hopefully gain some valuable information, forgive your girl and work on training. If my experiment fails, I'll be blaming myself, not the whippets.

I love those bug shots tlc. Are they the naughty little bugs that are usually joined together in a moment of passion, even when they go about their daily business? Actually, I think the top bug is a different kind, that's my fave photo.

I wasn't wound up by it at all, but I do know, from personal experience, she can be a rude, quick tempered woman. I cannot imagine she would lose her job over it, but she might get some training on what to talk to customers about, and selling her cross bred puppies isn't one of them.
-
It's instinct. Dont be too hard on her, it's in her nature, the thing you have to worry about with dogs like that is she'll do the same thing to a snake. I dont know if you could train her out of it, perhaps all you can try to do is avoid those situations and that can be hard too unless you constantly have her on the lead. Poor lizzy. One of mine has killed 2 blue tongues here, it's awful, and once they're dead the dogs loose all interest in them.

My reaction to the one here a month or so ago was probably more like Maddie, Huh? did that just happen? My whippets were more like Stan.

I dont believe he's reading, he's just looking at the pictures!!! Just like blokes who buy Playboy, oh yeah sure, you only buy it for the articles.

I love seeing how everyone's got different opinions. We're all individuals, we all handle things our own way. Ask 10 different people, you'll get 10 different answers.

It didn't occur to me to say something like that, I would have if it had popped into my head. I've been shopping at supermarkets for alot of years now, I must have been served by many thousands of checkout people. I've never had one try to sell me something before. I had one ask me if I had headache tablets, and I gave her some. I dont think some extra training will go astray for this woman. Unless there's already been a string of complaints about her I'm sure she wont lose her job over this.
-
I dont feel it's a sackable offence, I think she is new there, I haven't seen her working there before. I know for a fact she has a rude, abrasive manner, because of her previous words with me, but who knows, perhaps with some more people skills training she will make a fine checkout operator.
-
I cant say I felt insulted, I just thought she was a dimwit and attempting to take advantage of every dog owner who passed through her checkout. The funny thing is, she doesn't remember, but she WAS very rude to me when the bushfires where all happening here. A few of us had put our horses in the pony club grounds because they were safer than our own paddocks. She had put an old snotty nosed buckskin in there, and I asked her about the gunk coming out of his nose. I was concerned it might be contagious to the other horses. She snapped at me to stop whinging and mind my own business. So..........she's been duly reported to Coles management  with a suggestion that she needs some extra training, I'm not looking to get her sacked.

he looks deformed. I think it's probably a good thing they're keeping him lean.

Bought some dog food yesterday, something I dont normally do from a supermarket, but anyway, the checkout woman said, 'oh dog food? I've got some puppies I'm trying to sell, do you know anyone who would like a pug cross puppy?' says I 'No, Pugs are they?' She said 'Oh no, you wouldn't want to buy a purebred pug, dont get me started on purebreds!' I didn't, I just walked off but felt tempted to report her for trying to sell her dogs to any passing customer. I wonder if she'd get a telling off.

congrats. It must feel pretty good to see it up there on the wall. Years ago a pastel drawing I did was put up on the wall in a gallery. I felt like going up to everyone who looked at it to say "I did that!" I managed to refrain though.

I dont think the last photo was taken in Australia looks more like Europe to me although I can't be sure. I didn't think it was legal to own these in Australia. Hmmm found this old thread, maybe they can be imported but have to be 5th gen away from pure wolf. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/23951-wolfdogs/
