  1. It's exciting when you finally jump in buy one isn't it. You'll start to pick it up after a while. When I first bought my 400D I was too scared to take it out of the box! so I know what you mean about daunting.
  2. Brrrr! They look cold. I hope it warms up a bit for you all, have a great time.
  3. I'm assuming it's something to do with Star Wars Pretty sure there's an Iggy under there.
  4. you wont need the IS for sports and agility because you will most likely have a fast shutter speed. It's probably needed more for portraits. I've got the IS version and to be honest I think I could have saved myself alot of money and gone without it. If you're shooting mainly in daylight the f4 might do you. here's the f4 without IS archive. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=142739 and here's what it's selling for on DWI. a month ago it was only $666 (ooh, that's the devils number )
  5. Poor things, my natural instinct would be to comfort them but I know that's the worst thing you can do. Here, only Feather is developing a fear of storms and I'll often go outside and potter in the garden or do poo patrol, or play with the boys. I encourage her to come out too which she does. Sometimes she seems to get over it but I saw her trembling just before, but I ignored it.
  6. Poor Bracken, I'm sorry he suffered. Take care of yourself, I hope you have friends near to comfort you.
  7. I use the 2 Canon programs that you will get when you purchase your camera. If you shoot jpeg it's zoom browser and if you shoot RAW it's DPP. They're pretty basic but still good, not as fancy as photoshop and lightroom, but they're free with your camera. All my pics are only processed with them.
  8. that's very sad, awful to witness too. I hope your boy pulls through.
  9. I know nothing about that lens but here's the archive for it which gives samples of photos taken with it. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=578814&highlight=18-200
  10. no worries... did you see the pix from last time? Yep, loved 'em! :D
  11. Probably more to do with Auto focus and good lenses.
  12. I haven't been able to find any mention of Italian Greyhounds being shown. Does anyone know if there were any there this year? If so do you know who won the Iggy classes?
  13. Unless you are a professional sports photographer I suspect the 7D will be more than you ever need.
  14. How come you dont just buy the student and teacher version, how is it different?
  15. I cant find it. I clicked your link and then did a search for lightroom but I dont understand what I'm looking for. Can you post a direct link to it please. there's 2 there that seem to be exactly the same except on is $299 and on is $89 it says teachers and student edition. How are they different and how would B&H know if I'm a teacher or student.
  16. was it you who had the Quasimodo look alike? Remember that funny photo
  17. My whippets would be perfect but me, not so much, unless you wanted to create a Lucian Freud style with the fat lady reclining on the couch with a whippet.
  18. Mostly I go by body language and behaviour ,but there are certain breeds I am immediately wary of and I watch them for the signs. It's all based on personal experience with those breeds, not what I've read or been told.
