thanks :D I got a few of little Mindy looking all sad and alone, like she'd been washed up on the beach and forgotten, poor baby, then Belinda came along and was patting her but she still didn't move. She's a funny little girl isn't she.

Our little social club had a members day at Carrum beach on Oct 29th, just getting in before leash restrictions come into force. It was cold, rainy and windy when we set out so the last thing we all expected was to go home sunburnt, but that's how it turned out. Good old Melbourne weather.

A Common Held Misconception About Whippets

:D thankyou both, yes Tag is pretty gorgeous, and goofy! -
Months ago there was a white shepherd living rough in paddocks near an industrial area somewhere in Melbourne. Efforts were made to catch it but I didn't ever hear if it was caught. Just wondering if anyone knows what became of it.

I agree, there are some very generous, thoughtful and kind DOLers

I doubt a koala would taste like eucalyptus if it wasn't eating eucalyptus leaves. They can eat other stuff but I'm not sure what, and how long they can survive without eucalyptus leaves. I know a woman who grew up living at Healesville sanctuary. They sometimes had animals living in their house and she said a koala used to be quite tame and live inside. Every now and then it would raid the pantry and eat all kinds of stuff, biscuits especially. I was very surprised.

Shell, I didn't know that your Grandfather passed away, I'm sorry. My eyes welled up with tears as soon as I looked at the first pic, simply because of the sentiment that led you to take them. So he didn't get to see the photos?

I know very well what a koala looks like and that looks like a very sick koala to me.

what a lovely idea for a thread. Here's Oscar and his mummy Kibah on our weekend away to Woods Point.

I doubt it will have any real affect on his potential athletic performance. Some greyhounds have a toe removed and continue to race.

thanks for your comments everyone. :D Tag is alot of fun. It's a good example of the 7Ds focussing ability too. -
What, no lippy?

It looks like a koala to me, I can see its big nose and fluffy ears. If someone asked me what I thought the creature in the cage was, I'd say a koala, without reading the story that goes with it.

congratulations Flaves, it's a great time to buy. I'd love that lens, I know someone with it, I'd also like the 24-70.

Much as I love that ad ruthless posted in general, I have to correct a misconception, an untruth, about whippets, so at great personal risk to myself, but more importantly, my beloved camera, here are the facts. Whippets, especially some whippets, love water and mud. I suppose that's why my Tag would've failed the audition to be in the ad. Cue the slow mo music. take that Ruthless, here's a raspberry just for you! The Grand Finale, my courage left me here and I lifted my camera but I got sprayed with mud. SPLAT!! The aftermath. You could've scraped it off with a knife.

I think it's the best ad in the history of the world.

I love it!!! I'll have to post it to my whippet forum. thanks for posting.

You're off to a flying start, well the dogs sure are anyway.

Hello! You've come out of hiding!!! glad you like them. I posted them in the sighthound thread too so all the saluki, borzoi and afghan people could see the as well. Thanks everyone for your kind comments on the pics. As you know, I really love taking these kind of action shots. If it wasn't so far away I'd be down there alot more. Hoping for a chance to get some polo shots soon, that should be fun.

thanks. I had a pretty fast shutter speed. 1/5000th! :D I wish I was clever enough to lighten off their faces in post processing cause they've lost a bit of detail but all I do is convert from RAW, sharpen a bit and sometimes tweak brightness.

I went to Tooradin (whippet races) again yesterday and got more shots of the Salukis than I did of the whippets. This boy knows what it's all about now and really chases, trouble is, he's got no one to race against. His Wallace and Gromit face and his buddy who is 8 years old now.

Sorry to hear about Angel. I dont think a vet would ever find it easy, if they do perhaps it's time they looked for another occupation. I think that they believe they are doing the animal a kindness by ending its suffering, and most of the time they are. Sometimes it's harder for vets with particular animals. My "old" vet, cried when she put Kiri down, but I felt comforted by that in a way, she loved Kiri too, so I couldn't have had a better person to help Kiri on her way.
