You got it at the right time, it's already back on the way up. You paid almost $300 less than I did early last year, and I thought I got it for a good price then. I think you will love it, especially for action.

What about posting your own.

well like the foam submission I've missed this too. Checked this morning and it's back over $2 grand again. Probably best, I cant afford it and I dont have the talent to get the best out of it anyway. I need to stick with the 7D.

silly me, I didn't realise it closed at midday. I've missed it. DOH!

I dont need another camera but the thought of getting a full frame is kinda tempting when it's so cheap. Oh oh oh what should I do?

Kirislin replied to Karelea Aussies's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
If you were willing to buy online and not get the Australian Canon warranty you could get that all for $796. Plus postage and you have to buy the CF or SD card on top. http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProduct=3036 -
OMG!!! Buy! Buy! Buy! Did ya? And the 5D is $1977

Yep, I agree with kja I've shot as fast as 1/5000th to freeze action, no camera shake there, I dont have a tripod. Keep practising.

I bought some Saline with plans of getting close up froth, but the damn stuff didn't foam up like I remember it did as a kid. I might have to go buy some Ice Cream and lemonade today to make spiders, Oh, purely for the sake of art mind you. ;)

Ooh that looks good CM. Well balanced, good composition.

Yeah, just leave a little gap to stick a straw in the side of his mouth, fluids only Earl! Now there's an idea - I'm sure I could puree his kibble ;) ETA - the ironic thing is that this time it WASN'T a foreign body - the vet says in all of her 19 years of practice this is the first strangulated intestine she has seen. bloody marvelous! You've probably got more chance of winning tattslotto. Isn't it typical. Oh well, at least you've still got your boy.

Why Do Sighthounds Tend To Be Timid/sensitive?
Kirislin replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hmmmmmm maybe this will convince you they're not timid. -
That's what I thought too. Sad to see the grass go. Yep I hated to see the grass go. It was purely to do with $$. They hope to be able to race all year round now, although I'll believe that when I see it. I wouldn't be surprised if they still have to cancel due to weather. I still maintain if they'd ripped up the grass and then re did it with proper layers designed to enable run off and drainage and replanted it with better grass it would have stood up to winter racing. There really were 16 dogs running roolly troolly

If that was the case, if she waved a squealing rabbit in front of them as their reward she'd get a very impressive repsonse -
sounds like he's in good hands. Get well Earl.

thanks for looking. Here's a couple more, the blue dog in the red vest ran last and see his eyes jammed shut. I am guessing that's because he would have been copping a face full of sand, you can see another black dog behind the yellow vest, he too was at the back of the field and also has his eyes closed. It must hurt like hell. these dog were pulling up way too soon because the lure driver was slowing the lure too soon. The orange fluffy in the foreground is an old lure that they chuck to get the dogs attention and give them something to direct their excitement to.

Why Do Sighthounds Tend To Be Timid/sensitive?
Kirislin replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
For the record Corvus I dont think your question was stupid, misinformed or misinterpreted by the dogs you studied perhaps, but at least you came here and asked it, and now hopefully have some information you can work with. I didn't take offence at your question, after almost 30 years of having shivery trembling whippets I'm pretty used to all sorts of questions. Their aloofness is what made me fall in love with whippets in the first place. I still remember the first time I saw them up close, it was a brother and sister, they were cream coloured, I've never seen that colour in the flesh since, they were laying by a fire and looked like marble statues. I thought they were the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. I was used to waggy tailed friendly dogs, and I said Hello! to them, expecting them to get up and come over for a pat. Instead, they looked me up and down, as if to say, you've got to be kidding, and then turned their heads away and ignored me. I was smitten! I thought, how can I make these dogs like me. I never did, but from then on, I wanted one. -
Taken at the end of the Healesville straight. Who let the dogs out!!!! Bet you've never seen a field of 16 before. the new lure driver was pulling up too soon and the dogs were slowing and getting out before the gates shut.

Why Do Sighthounds Tend To Be Timid/sensitive?
Kirislin replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
and there's the quivering of course. Again, it's my little blueys that do it most. With their tails tucked between their legs and quivering like jelly it's easy to see why one might think they're timid. -

If you saw a trained racing or hunting whippet there'd be nothing timid about it and boldness would probably be off the chart. They go psycho. -
Why Do Sighthounds Tend To Be Timid/sensitive?
Kirislin replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would say mine are sensitive. The 2 little blue girls are slighty aloof, actually I like that trait in them. Penny, the fawn and white girl has never been in a fight but I think she'd love the opportunity. Her mother was used for hunting and killed alot of foxes, no mean feat for a small dog. I always get the feeling she'd have a go if another dog snapped at her. The others are all cowards and dont like over enthusiastic dogs, although they themselves love the chance to chase a dog that runs. I have to watch against that. I can understand why you asked if they are timid and dont take offence at it. They aren't generally an aggressive breed.
