Lure Coursing In Adelaide - For Non-greyhounds
Kirislin replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
I cant wait to see the photos. -
when they're not ripping their toys apart they're madly digging holes for me to break my ankles in. all taken within the space of about 2 minutes

thanks Snook this is very helpful. What kind of DVDs do I buy, can you give me a brand name and description if there's different types. My camera is a 7D and the files are huge.
-
I dont know how to do this. I have a computer with Vista and if I figure out how to put photos on a disc for someone, will they be able to view the pics if they have an Apple Mac. Also what kind of disc do I have to get, is it a CD or a DVD, I know absolutely nothing. Once it's done will they be able to alter the image on their computer, and will they be able to take it to a photo shop and have it printed?

General Camera Info For The Dummy (me)
Kirislin replied to MadWoofter's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Actually that is not true. They are different though. The 5D has a full frame sensor and is probably better for portraiture and maybe landscapes, although I dont know for sure cause I dont have one. The 7D is a crop sensor and is designed especially for sports/action type shots although it takes some pretty good portraits and landscapes anyway. The 5D is the more expensive of the 2. Have a look at Canons website, they give a run down on all the models.http://www.canon.com.au/en-AU/For-You/EOS-Digital-SLR-Cameras -
Lure Coursing In Adelaide - For Non-greyhounds

It's a drag lure!! even better! Much more chance of them chasing it first off than a mechanical rails lure which takes more training for some. -
Lure Coursing In Adelaide - For Non-greyhounds

Well done! I wouldn't worry about muzzles for now. You will possibly be running your dogs alone anyway. Muzzles are just to stop them biting each other if they get a bit too intense and excited. You need to see how you go there and formulate some questions for her,( take a pen and paper with some questions jotted down) such as could you use the facilities on a regular basis, have a number of days in mind. When we were starting we initially said 10 days per year but found that was too much and have dropped it back to 5 because it's just too hard to get people to commit to help run the days. It means that the lure driver will have to be available on those days too and you will probably have to pay him. Tell her you are thinking about starting a club, (you are aren't you?) and could you use their facilities as your base? Ask about insurance too, whether theirs will cover you, it propbably will for a one off but if you become a club they might want you to get your own. Stress to everyone to not let their dogs run free, and take poo bags and tell all your attendees to pick up after their dogs. We always have free poo bags to hand out , in case people forget their own, there's no excuse. Try to very safety concsious. I went through all this when I formed our little social club. You are welcome to PM me if you want. I feel very excited for you. :D Oh, and you must must must take a camera and post piccies back here. -
I made the mistake of looking in that thread, it just breaks your heart seeing all those desperate faces.

Have fun with it.

hmmm, I'm wondering, you said the converter wants to go on the front of your lens? It might be the sort that allows you to turn the lens around and fit it backwards onto your camera to create a macro effect. Best play it safe though and get an expert to look at it, dont try attaching it your self in case that isn't what it does, dont want to damage your camera. Can you give negative feedback on ebay or even get a refund if it's not what they said it was. What lenses have you got now?
-
No, you might be thinking of a macro lens there. The 50mm is a good general lens but it wont make things that are a long way off look close. you look through the view finder and what you see is what you get. If something doesn't fill the frame the way you want it to, then you must change your positon by moving in closer or backing off, you cannot turn a ring to change the view, it's fixed. You can use it to take portraits and even some action shots, there's a thread here that shows alot of different styles taken with it. you can get the "nifty fifty" so named cause it's very cheap, for a good price right now http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProduct=63 A zoom that might suit you if you're on a budget is probably the 55-250mm http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProduct=1903 or maybe the 75-300mm but they aren't the best quality, although you can get reasonable shots from them. http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProduct=2649 You need to read up a bit on lenses to get a basic understanding, ask lots of questions and think about the sort of photos you want to take. It's an expensive hobby and you dont want to buy the wrong lenses for your needs. I'm thinking you've fitted the converter incorrectly.

If the police had been called at the time they might have even charged the hypothetical drunk with reckless riding. I've heard of drunken people being charged while riding horses, and eskys!
-
someone was in the know because I heard about 4 weeks ago that there was going to be fast shutter and panning, cant remember where I read it now.
-
very clever, it makes sense when you think about it, all the stuff mums need to carry for a bub. I might keep an eye out for nappy bags too.
-
He's freaky! say it to his face, go on, I dare you.
-
dont take it seriously.
-
awww, she's very sweet.

Wow, it's a very predictable routine isn't it. At least it wasn't one of those once in a lifetime opportunities You will be able to practice your settings with this till you get it spot on. The second attempt is much much better. It's small so I cant see it too well, I'm not sure how sharp and if focus it is. Try to post a bigger pic please. I suspect the dog is moving fairly fast when it comes through the door so try for a fast shutter speed. If it was a whippet I'd have it at least 1/1000th. you might need to change other camera settings to compensate for the fast shutter but because the dog does the same thing every time it's something you can play around with on your camera.

very nice Snook. I sometimes look in op shops for good potential camera bags. Something big and roomy that could be modified.
-
well done YOU for getting such a mammoth task done. So you are in China at the moment too? You have to post lots of piccies for us. I assume they will have to stay in China now until Rover lives out his days, as it would be very hard to bring him back I suspect. I would imagine a video of you seeing your Mum again would be just as joyful as that of Rovers greeting. I know you've missed her so much. :D

exactly, plus my friend isn't on DOL, she rang me for my opinion. She cannot afford to go rushing to the emergency vet for every out of the ordinary little thing that happens after hours. and Yes to Jules P as well.
-
Ok, I didn't know that. It makes me feel a little better (if true) as the only thing I could think of that we did wrong that night was that my OH fed him (usually I do) and I forgot to tell him to elevate his bowl - something I ALWAYS did. We have both been feeling very guilty about this as it was a "one-off" and we lost him Great news Kirislin, I'm glad he's ok (assuming no news is good news) I talked to her this morning and he's fine.
-
It isn't my dog, my friend rang me because she wasn't sure what was wrong with him, she didn't ask me to ask here, that was my choice. As I've already said, I thought it sounded like it might be bloat but I had NEVER heard of a whippet getting bloat before, also since I couldn't actually see the dog I wasn't sure of the symptoms. As it happened she did take him to the vet pretty quickly. I've just got off the phone from her and he is fine this morning.
