Well it's morning now and I didn't get any frantic phone calls overnight so I can only assume "Oscie" is OK. As soon as I hear from her I'll post his condition here. To all those who keep telling me she needs to get another vet, it was the emergency vet so not the sort of thing you have a choice over, not her regular vet who made the 30kg statement. I thought it sounded strange too when she told me.
-
thanks for that gsdog2 and I am so sorry about your boy. It must be a heartbreaking thing to witness. I'm hoping Oscar is OK now.
-
I was surprised the vet said that.
-
Well she's just phoned me and they're on their way home. She's (the owner) not really sure what it was but he's had an injection of some kind, I'm guessing it might be a pain killer/relaxant type like they give colicy horses but I dont really know. I asked her if they said it could develop into a torsion but she didn't know. Just glad he's OK, I think she did the right thing taking him to the vet.
-
That is utter BS! If this is her regular vet, I'd be thinking about looking for a new one. I hope her whippy is OK. No, it's the emergency vet.

Ummm what Dachshunds are a known breed to suffer bloat. Saying dogs under 30kg don't bloat is ridiculous I've heard of smaller dogs getting a torsion, which I think can happen with bloat, cant it, or am I getting all mixed up now. I was surprised when she told me he'd just said a blanket statement that dogs under 30kgs cannot get bloat, but certainly I've never heard of a whippet getting it. I just hope whatever he's got he's getting the right treatment, I bred this boy and I love him as one of my own.

wow, she's already at the vet and he's being seen now. The vet said whippets cannot get bloat. Dogs under 30kgs wont get it, I dont know why, but I have never heard of a whippet with bloat before so I'm hoping he is right. They are concerned though as he seems in alot of discomfort.
-
I'm hoping she's on her way now. It's hard to know from her description but I think it could be. I hope he will be OK.
-
I've called her back and told her to take him to the vet now, I dont like the sounds of it.

My friend just rang me concerned about her whippet. He had his evening meal about an hour ago and now looks uncomfortable. She said she fed him cooked chicken, some white rice and some kibble, it's not what he usually eats, I think it was left overs. She said his tummy seems a bit taut and he is not happy. I've never heard of bloat in whippets but I'm worried that is what he might have.

have you changed any of the custom functions? and do you do any sharpening afterwards, in post processing, because most agree you need to.
-
did you sell your 350D, I sold my 400D too and I kinda wish I'd kept it. How long have you had the 7D and are you finding it hard, if so what problems are you having?

I shoot RAW and it just eats up space, not sure about jpeg only.

I use three, 50mm 1.4, 100mm 2.8 macro and 70-200mm 2.8 IS.

Yaay!! :D You will notice such an enormous difference. Oh, and the file sizes are huge, better all get an external portable hard drive thingy to store you photos on.

Lure Coursing In Adelaide - For Non-greyhounds
Kirislin replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd like to see whippet racing recognised by the breed clubs at least but it's not. -
technically that's not a Lurcher, it's just a sighthound cross, maybe even a longdog, not sure, but a Lurcher is a sighthound/working dog (such as a collie) cross or sometimes sighthound/terrier cross, just depends on what you want them for. I've got a fabulous book called The Complete Lurcher by D. Brian Plummer that I got for 5c at the local library sell off, what a treasure!! :D He was supposed to be an expert on them.

Lure Coursing In Adelaide - For Non-greyhounds
Kirislin replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
lure racing is a bit different to lure coursing though. The reason they only let small dogs do the racing is that they have to start in small boxes. The boxes open and then they race in a straight line. The actual race is very short. Lure coursing is when they follow an entire course, one-by-one. Yes, and coursing is usually thought of as a twisting course, to mimic the turning of a hare, whereas racing is either a straight line or circle but not twisting. You dont have to have starting boxes though, especially a new club just beginning, you can hand slip. -
Ideas On How To Set Up My Camera Bag Insides!
Kirislin replied to lovemesideways's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Have you been to China to see your Mum and Dad? If so, did you get the dogs over there too? Cant help with the bag. I need a bigger better one myself. -
aarrrgggghhhhh! how frustrating. When you buy from them there's a drop down with all the suggestions of other stuff you might need. It shows what kind of cards it takes there. While you are waiting read the manual and I would advise downloading the CD that comes with the camera and use DPP to process your pics. You can still transfer them to other programs.

are you sure that is all she ate, if her belly is so full. You can make her vomit it up if you give her Lectric. do you know how long ago she ate it?

My email tells me mine will be here late September, I just wondered if those who entered last year get theirs earlier. Looks like they'll release the details of the other briefs on Sept 19th.
