  1. I know you probably really just want him home to cuddle and love but right now it sounds like he's in the best place. Get well soon magnificent Chase.
  2. thanks Mother Moocher ;) I went back to Woolies the next time I was nearby and they were alot more expensive so I didn't buy them for the whips Coles sells frozen turkey maryland, so that's the thigh and drumstick together for about $3.9 p/kg. I have somtimes thrown them in the weekly cookup for them as a treat.
  3. You've made me choke up. Very relieved for you and will be alot happier when he's well enough to go home to you.
  4. I'm hoping for good news this morning.
  5. I used to use Phuds and I found their poos were small and firm with it. I didn't use it to the instructions though but I was happy with the product, I just find it hard to get now. I used to cook my 3 kgs of chicken mince with veggies, rice etc and made it a bit sloppy. Once it was cooked I'd add one 2ltr ice cream container of Phuds, stir it through and then put the lid back on the pot but have the heat turned off. I'd leave it for 10 or 15 mins and then ladle into containers for the week. It became a firm meat loaf and my dogs loved it. That amount of Phuds added to the rest of the ingredients used to give me about around 4 2ltr containers of loaf.
  6. I've still only got my daggy little lowepro that fits a camera and 2 small lenses, or the big lens as long as it's not on the body. If I'm lucky I can stuff my purse in there too but it doesn't look like a handbag that's for sure. Those ones on etsy seem pretty cheap especially with our strong Aussie $. Huga, I bet you are clever enough to make one. Hey, if you do a good one for yourself you might even find us lining up to buy one off you. What do you think? Hmmmmmm?
  7. I dont think I "get" the lensbaby, they mostly make me feel drunk or drugged when I look at photos. I'm not keen on the effect. I do like the tilt shift though.
  8. a couple of reasons really, to slow them down from grabbing the lure at the end, cause if they got a hold of it they'd tear it apart, even with a muzzle some manage to grab it, the other reason is they're pretty excited and sometimes they bite, either people or other dogs. Not all whippets do it, but their blood is up and so just in case we have the muzzles on. Most of them forget they're wearing them when they chase. Evolving, I've never met a Lappie in person.
  9. Hello Cookie you little cutie.
  10. geeze what a nightmare You must be sick with worry right now. I hope he pulls through and you get good news very soon.
  11. kja I had heard about the 50mm 1.4 problem and it didn't put me off buying it, but since I had the problem I kind of feel obliged to mention it to people now when I recommend the lens, I do love mine though.
  12. Also, the 1.4 has a reputation for auto focus failure and I had it happen to mine, problem was, it was intermittent. It nearly became a disaster cause I took it back to the retailer, who sent it off to Canon who could find no problem with it. When I got it back I asked the seller what if it happens again out of warranty. They said it would still be covered because I had reported it as a problem within the warranty period. So, Murphs Law, it behaves fine for a couple of months then just after the warranty ends it starts to fail alot. Send it back to Canon and they said it's out of warranty and would cost me $380 or thereabouts to fix. A few more emails back and forth and drawing their attention to the original problem and they fixed it no charge "as a gesture of goodwill" It's been fine since but if it fails again I will buy a Sigma next time.
  13. My whippet recently had a broken rib and the vet listened to her lungs to make sure they were OK. With her break he could feel enough to not need to xray it but depending on how it feels you dog might need an xray to get a clear picture of what the damage is. You need to go back to the vet or take her to another quick smart. Even if it just needs time to heal you will have to be very careful with her, give her time to heal, not let her got too boisterous or she could make it worse.
  14. Hahaha, I think your version of his reaction would be about right. Ok as to your camera, just start using it. You dont have to have it in manual if you're not ready. Most people start in auto, then move to a semi manual control such as AV or TV to get an understanding of what they do. Reading helps too, I bought Understanding Exposure off a DOLer. I still haven't read it cover to cover though. Your camera and lenses are better than the ones I started with, you can get good zoom pics with the 55-250. My longest lens now is only 200mm so get out and start clicking.
  15. Maybe Pete could use them in return for his lens..? Sorry I had to go there I wonder if I should ask him if he's interested. what do you think tdierikx? Actually he's a member of DOL, maybe I'll just PM him.
  16. Pete took those with his Canon 40D and a massive 400mm f2.8 lens that costs a fortune.
  17. archive for the 1.4 http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=139085 archive for the 1.8 the "nifty fifty" http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=186207
  18. the one I read said they were Ibex goats in Italy, I didn't see the link that claimed they were bighorn sheep in the US. You can tell they're not bighorns anyway.
  19. that's some sacrifice! Here's the rest of the pics from that day, now dont go giving up your right one as well. http://s212.photobucket.com/albums/cc71/yv...mview=slideshow
  20. He sure is an obliging little bird. That one with the mynah is funny too. Looks like the view there is nice, overlooking the water.
  21. I wonder if the base of the wall is littered with bodies. I hope not.
