  1. a girl friend of mine was walking her dogs on lead to the park in the Port Melb area recently. A big dog rushed them and although didn't attack he did frighten dogs and owner. She spoke to the loose dogs owner and he said it was her fault for being afraid and she would've passed it on to her dogs. She reported him cause she knew where he lived and he was fined purely on her say so. I was very surprised that was all it took.
  2. Yes, for some reason it makes me think of leather bound books and rich chocolate. I've no idea why those 2. but delicious is a good word for it.
  3. Yeah, I wasn't sure about them being litter mates, their heads are different, but you can have alot of variation in litters so it doesn't mean they aren't. I thought they looked young too, only around 18months - 2 years at a guess. Actually that would count the Irish dog out, but it could be some of his progeny who are the parents. The bitch reminds me of lots of pups I've seen from this dog.
  4. I was just thinking about you yesterday. :D I've always loved your macro photography, and one of my favourites is that fern! I hope you do well, I think you will, it's well deserved.
  5. Well, you have some gorgeous subjects to work on. Those long beaks though mean you have to decide if you want to focus on their nose or their eyes if you're going for a shallow depth of field, or you can take a side on shot. Alternatively, you can move back a bit, but close ups are fun. The 7D is a whole lot of camera, I am still only a learner and I usually feel a bit sheepish even having one, like I am "over camera'd" I read the manual as much as I can but it still doesn't really always answer my many questions, sometimes I just dont understand what it's saying. You still need to read it though, and keep it safe. What are mode are you shooting in at the moment? Another thing you can do is go back on all the challenges Ash set for us. Even though they're from ages ago, the exercises in them are just as useful now as they were then. You can see what she explains at the start, and then see what people have submitted.
  6. I meant to say that's a big splurge MrRedDog! congratulations, it must have been fun unpacking it all cant wait to see some piccies.

  8. Possibly not, dont just get it for the sake of it. Your lens covers that range, set it on 50mm with the widest aperture 2.8 and take some portraity type shots and see what you think.
  9. What/who are platform developers? I dont have a facebook account and the more I read about it the more I think it's best if I dont. A great idea in theory though.
  10. I wonder if they're litter mates. The bitch looks to me like she might be by the Irish dog that was here a few years ago and used quite alot. Collooney Silver Jigolo aka Barney. I feel sure these whippets are pedigrees, I wonder who bred them and if they know they're in need of rescue.
  11. poor lions I hate to think what happened to them after that
  12. yep, it's cheap but check what they charge for postage before committing to it. It might work out just as cheap to buy it from a shop.
  13. I could've told you that Bec. Lovely looking dogs, I wonder what their story is. I hope they get a whippet sympathetic home together soon.
  14. What a silly pup! ;) You really have to wonder what goes through their heads sometimes. I think I'd be going for something like pavers or grass, something that he cant swallow, although I would have thought you'd be pretty safe with river stones. sigh. I hope he heals up fine and stops being such a silly duffer.
  15. bumping this up, how are you finding this lens, do you still love it?
  16. Hey, he's a dressage dog! I always love visiting this thread. Huga when your kids are all grown up, they'll only need to look back on their childhood pics to bring back those memories and to remind themselves just how much their mummy loves them. I know it's corny but it's what I always feel when I see your photos. Thanks Bec. I'm wondering if it's because my back isn't as sore lately and I can get a bit lower. Usually I try to avoid kneeling or sitting on the ground but I've been able to be a little more active these last few weeks. Hey, Cam would look good as a dad wouldn't he.
  17. wow, that's a big family. Have you and your whippet been to our fun days yet?
  18. I'd love to but it's a bit far, and I'd want to bring a whippet or two and that's a no no. :p
  19. it's always fairly cheap, depends on what our Aussie $ is doing. I thought I got a good price from them when I got mine a few months ago, but it's almost $200 cheaper again, makes me want to buy another :p

  21. phwoarrrrr!!!!! you better add yourself in here then. Have you committed to buying it from the shop you went into yet. It's very cheap at DWI. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=203980&hl=
  22. While looking back through some old pics I found this one of Puck. I cant believe I'd forgotten it, he's so cute. This is very typical Puck behaviour. I just love this goofy boy. Taken with that versatile macro lens.
  23. What an awful black cloud hanging over them. From what others have said though there's a chance they will be alright. I hope so. Sending positive thoughts to you and them.
