I still keep in touch with the breeders of my two girls Penny (11) and Kibah(10), in fact Pennys breeder just rang me this week. He's really nice and he loves to have a long chat about whippets and hunting and breeding and he's got a memory like an elephant and is very knowledgable, plus he's entertaining, swears like a warfie and speaks his mind. I am good friends with 2 people who've bought puppies off me and I still keep in touch with the others even if it's only to send their "puppies" birthday wishes.

It's Another Guessing Game :d
Kirislin replied to cannibalgoldfish's topic in General Dog Discussion
ditto my first thought was a bit of beagle in there but I agree, probably lots of other breeds in there too. A genuine Heinz dog, they're becoming a rarity these days with all the oodles, he might be worth a lot of money. -
It was with my 50mm. I can never seem to see the difference with the DOF preview button, I probably wouldn't have had time to use it though.

Every time I see this I start humming "cause he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes, he's got high apple pie in the sky hopes........"

I found this This one on ebay but there's $10 postage as well. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SNUGGLESAFE-MICROWA...=item53e14beff1 edited to remove a certain supplier.

I really need the large but they dont make it anymore so I had to get the extra large, which, I suspect is big enough for a person to crawl through, sort of defeats some of the purpose I got it for. It will still be nice not to have to open the door thirty times a day.
-
Thanks guys, you've convinced me, I think I might trot down today and buy one.
-
OK, it's just that I feel like I've seen pics with the main subject further away and still with the shallow depth of field. If I ever find one I will post it here.

Has anyone got a Pig in Mud dog door insert for sliding doors. What do you think of them. I am considering getting one but I'd like to hear anyones good and bad stories first.

I think this would have worked if you only wanted one or two birds in shot and they were closer. I know when I take shots of the 2 dogs sitting side my side I have av set at about 5 Maybe the shots you saw had been edited kirislin Mmmmm, not sure. I had it focussed on just one using spot auto focus but even so, if the birds were all at relatively the same distance from me, imagine they are all glued to a pane of glass so all at the same depth of field I though it would still isolate them from the things in front and behind.
-
3.2 is a fairly large aperture and the camera pretty much got focus on the birds, which is what I wanted. Annie you might be right in that it has to be closer but I am not sure. I've seen photos where the focus point is further away. like the birds, but still has a very shallow depth of field so in front and behind are out of focus. I have in my mind a couple of pics I've seen on POTN but a long time ago and I wouldn't know how to find them now. One was of a magnificent tree in the distance but all before and after it were OOF. The other was of people, just the ones he wanted were in focus but again all before and after were OOF. Maybe it's done in PP. I hope not.

I know this isn't a great photo, but it will serve the purpose well for my question. What I was hoping for was to have the birds clear and sharp and the foreground and background out of focus. I thought with an aperture of f3.2 I would have got that, but I haven't. The birds seem reasonably sharp to my eyes (which aren't too good BTW) but I haven't got the shallow depth of field I was after. Yes Feather in the foreground is OOF and so are the trees a bit, but not as much as I wanted. Can some experienced photographer help me understand why. Would it have had more of the effect I wanted if I was lower to the ground, I was standing when I took it, I'm wondering if it's got to do with plane of view, dont know if that's a photographic term or I just made it up, I hope people understand what I mean. *edit, I think I meant focal plane

Umm I forgot to ask, is this at the Exhibition building? I dont go to Melbourne alot and I need to make sure in advance where the hell I am going. edit, OK found it. lucky I looked, I would've thought I'd been stood up otherwise. Yikes, it's unfamiliar territory to me. Better start studying the Melways. http://www.mcec.com.au/Attend/Visitor-Info/Directions-and-Transport.html What time and where do we want to meet on Sunday? -
I dont think so, well, I didn't take it that way, the OP only asked for before and afters, not blow by blow how to's. Although even if she did ask that, she wouldn't be the first.

I am guessing the pups with big tummies have a heavy worm burden. The sooner they are wormed the better. Since you have internet access you can buy vet products such as worming tablets and flea treatments online. http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/dog-supplies-vet-meds this might be the easist way for you. I think if you could desex her it would be good. I doubt it would affect her instinct to survive. I think alot of animal welfare groups do this to the feral populations in other countries and quite possibly in Australia too. At least she wont keep adding to the sad and sorry dog population already there that probably sees alot of dogs die. I wonder if the vet might even consider doing it as a welfare case and hopefully charging you less to spey her. Good luck with it.

Uh oh I can feel my eyes glazing over already. Yes Annie Sunday will suit me. What time do you want to meet and where of course, if there's a Canon stand that would seem the obvious place to me, unless of course we have some Nikon people as well, they might not want to be seen with us though. -

Come on, Annie and I have met so we can vouch for each other being human and I think Annie and Bec have met as well. I've finished weekend work for now so I am fairly flexible as to when I go, so Yep Annie, I would love to meet up. I wonder if they'll have Canon lenses on special. hmmmmmm Maybe I should jot down a couple of current prices and see if anything there can better it. I do love a bargain. -

It's being advertised on the radio, I was just listening and wondering if I should go along, looks like you've made up my mind for me. I just registered but I dont have a printer, I've written down the barcode number but I dont know if that will be enough information to get me in for free. I've send an email asking them but does anyone here know? S'ok, I've got a friend printing it for me. -
I understand what you're saying but then again, those editing facilities are available to anyone with the program. The photographers didn't invent them. I love the Lomo effect. If someone else does it here and then I too started doing it, it doesn't mean I am copying their style, we just like the same thing. Fair enough that they dont have to give a blow by blow account of how they came to create that effect, but if someone else stumbles upon it too, I dont consider it copying just because another person has used it first.

You might be able to buy some products on line, things like worm tabs and flea treatments, maybe even puppy dry food. Do you get mail delivered daily? And yes, good on you for helping mum and babies. Can you afford to get them all desexed, including mum. I wonder if there's financial help somewhere for stuff like that, it would be a pity if she just gets pregnant again but I can understand the cost might be prohibitive for you.
