  1. Sol got a 1000D, hers is in the range I mentioned.
  2. I'd say a Canon in the rebel range, they're fairly light compared to the rest, they have an auto option which pretty much means they're a fancy point and shoot until you feel ready to venture into a bit more creative controls. Large range of lenses. The current model numbers range from 450D to 1000D I think. I had a 400D but that's no longer being made.
  3. thanks for understanding everyone. the poor girls are both very sore today and Kibah is frightened of Penny, I suppose because Penny was the aggressor last night. The other fight they had a couple of years ago, it was Kibah who started it and for several days afterwards I could see she wanted to have another go and finish things off. It's so different this time. I got up during the night to let Kibah out of the car for a wee and she wanted to come in so I took her to bed with me, keeping Penny on the other side. This morning both are very stiff so I've rugged them to keep their necks warm as well as I think they're really sore there. Kibah then asked to go back into the car so I took her out and she couldn't even jump up, I had to lift her. Just about to warm up her snugglesafe again as that car is freezing. I just looked up when the last fight was. It was almost exactly 2 years ago. I've been managing their behaviour since then with no problems, it was just a silly thoughtless lapse on my part last night. I got a crate out last night and set it up for Penny, I rarely use crates, but they are invaluable when I do need them. They've been out in the garage unused for ages but I might call them up for duty again, just till things settle.
  4. Are you going to make some fancy leather whippet bling collars?!!!! Be nice to get some from oz. I currently get mine from England (made from english bridle leather and are sheepskin lined on the inside). I also have old greyhound leather collar and lead sets. Yes they are buckled on the collar and lead. I don't think they make them here anymore. I could still use them now and they are 20 yrs old. Yep, they still make them, they are the only sort greyhound trainers are allowed to use on racing greys.
  5. Not always, I had 2 before these, Kiri and Iris and they never fought, Kiri was clearly the top girl and Iris was happy with the arrangement and never challenged her. They were great mates, always playing together and snuggled up together when they slept. Most of the time the time Penny and Kibah are OK but I have to watch them and avoid situations that might cause a fight. I just lapsed a bit last night. I've just gone out and brought Kibah in, she's been in the car all this time but now I've crated her. I'll be keeping them both apart or on leads for the next little while to see how they are together.
  6. thanks for giving me a laugh, I needed it.
  7. unfortunately when mine fight it's deadly serious, no posturing or warning, they just throw themselves into it and try their best to kill each other. I am going to have to be very careful with them now. I thought I had been, but this was just a lapse in concentration on my part, I'd just come home from work and I was tired and didn't think about Penny being a bossy bitch trying to steal Kibahs yoghurt container. Usually they respect each others food but this was a bit different.
  8. Whippets are supposed to be gentle and most of the time they are but when these two go off, they're like bloody chainsaws.
  9. That's a good idea, I just found the heat pad I'd been looking for, for days when I got a coat for Kibah. I offered her a banana cause she'd usually kill for one and she only ate half, unheard of for her. I'll take her out the heat pad and a bit of honey in milk.
  10. All the dogs are upset, Tag ran outside and didn't want to come in, Feather is hiding under the doona and Puck is tense and miserable. I just went out to Kibah and carried her inside to bath her bloodshot eye and see if she wanted to stay inside, but no, she went back to the gate, so I've put a coat on her, opened the car window a smidge, (I hope no spiders get in there) and put her back so she can stay the night out there. I will take Penny to the vet tomorrow if she still looks sore, silly old ladies they are, they're much too old to be carrying on like this. I keep checking on them, I'm worried they'll die of a heart attack, they're both so upset. Hmmm would rescue remedy help or is it no good once they're already stressed. I have some, I just dont know if it would help them now.
  11. My 2 old girls Penny and Kibah just had another big barney over an empty yoghurt container. I gave Penny the bowl to lick and Kibah the plastic container but naughty Penny finished hers and tried to steal Kibahs. She wouldn't stand for it. I dont agree with Hugh Wirth who says let them go they'll sort it out. Yeah, when one is dead. I clobbered them both with my cob web duster and broke the bloody thing. Both the girls are in shock, so am I. Kibah is bleeding from her ear, I've bandaged it, and Penny looks to have alot of bruising on her neck but no actual wounds. She's walking around with her back hunched though and I went to pick her up and she whimpered. I've set up a crate and put her in there and I put Kibah in the car for the time being. I just went to get her out and she wants to stay in there so I might leave her there for the night. Dammit, I hate it when this happens. They fought a couple of years ago and I've been careful with them since then. It was just a lapse on my part, I should have been watching and made sure Penny didn't try to steal.
  12. no, it will probably need to be the one width. this one is the same all round
  13. Yep, sorry Ruth, hubby is right, the thick part goes at the front. Because sighthounds have long slender necks those thin collars are just too harsh on them. They need to spread the load and have a nice wide, preferably smooth collar for their fine skin too. When they're just on the dog but not on a lead the thin part generally slips to the front, but once it's attached it goes round to the back. Here's Taggy Baggy with an old roo slip collar showing how it should be "at rest" and the little girlies when they were tied up at the fun day showing how the collars spread the load by having the thick part at the front when there's a bit of tension. Just imagine how a thin collar would cut into those skinny little necks.
  14. Zoom browser, the program that comes with Canon cameras has one too. You must be doing something wrong with Photobuckets, I've used it for our whippet racing club and it works fine, all the pics displayed on black, it looks good.
  15. Hey!!! you could enter this in the Canon Keepers competition!!
  16. Beautiful! I can almost feel that warming sun on me.
  17. Yep, I know a woman whose dog had sickle hocks IRL but you'd never know it by his beautiful stacked photos. I saw the original photo and the doctored one.
  18. Geeeze! the least you could do is get the poor girl some sunglasses! you're making her squint, she'll get wrinkles you know.
  19. Any word on whether Jed had the surgery today and if so, how it went. I know sometimes they dont get operated on till late so she might still be waiting. I hope she is improving anyway, I dread when she realises the full extent of her loss.
  20. I noticed one little cav seemed to continually have her eyes closed. Were they burnt and will she? be OK? I hope so, it
  21. In the very first photo it looks like there's a split. Could there be a foreign body in that one?
