  1. Don't they!? I'm surprised at all the borzoi admirers out there. Plus, Im embarrassed to admit I forgt to add my two short-leg faves... Pekingese (old style) and Sealyham (esp with badger markings) - this is the one I seriously hope to add to the real, not just daydreaming, list!
  2. Sounds perfect Rebanne, I've been tossing up for ages whether to get a deluxe oztrail, but the wind vent sounds very tempting indeed...
  3. Or fungal. Either way, like Dogmad says, a swab should be in order asap.
  4. Sorry, OT. But yes indeed. It is a sad state o affairs when a monopoly is given to those who provide a far lesser service...
  5. Thanks Golden Wei! Oooo! Some rare breeds in there! Our group has a Harrier and a Podengo entered! And a Bracco Italiano in the gundogs!
  6. Congratulations Rebanne and all the Greys. :champagne: :champagne: Fantastic to see such lovely hounds being awarded. i've only seen your babies when they were tiny Rebanne (Melbourne Royal) but you have every right to be very proud - lovely pups indeed!
  7. Nope. But we are in the 370s so it sounds like a decent sized entry.
  8. Silver Lining could also be Cirrus. Not sure on the ov vs of thing. NSW didn't used to register 'of' but I'm not sure if that's changed. Can't hurt to submit them with 'of' as first preference and 'ov' as second!
  9. Yep. And the re opening of some camping there is a great example. Something that starts to make it more accessible to regional people.
  10. Except for Canberra, which used to have awesome coffee and now has utter garbage. I miss nice dog show coffees...
  11. Yep. And the main grounds of that State body happen to be in the State Capital. ;)
  12. Carsickness can be linked to simple vitamin deficiency, B6 in particular. If it was considered genetic, maybe it's a case of that line not utilising available vitamins correctly?
  13. I think by "phobic" we would be meaning dogs that go completely frantic, injure themsleves and still continue, etc etc. My mum had an old rescue GR, chronically overweight - super, super placid and gentle. But a hint of thunder and she would be absolutely raving. The worst she did was climb a six foot timber fence when mum wasn't home (honestly she was HEAVY and wouldn't have jumped even up at someone, even for a treat!). She tore open her leg and took off over the countryside. She was found three days and several kilometres later, still hiding in a drain. She was scarily phobic of storms. Nothing could get through to her. We never had her around fireworks which could have been a good thing!
  14. I won't use limit register again. I did for a couple of pups in my last litter and it was more trouble than it was worth. One went overseas to a world beating, better than could be dreamed up pet home - not all countries have people breeding our breed and we have good healthy hounds here and no rabies. So sometimes overseas folks will look to Oz for pets for good reason. Paperwork was ridiculous. If he had been on full register it would've been easy.
  15. I'm fortunate in not having any dogs fearful of fireworks or storms. Lucky as we annually have the National Fireworks Industry display just down the road which would be very hard otherwise!! Ours tend to lie out in the yard and watch them! I personally wouldn't breed from a fearful dog, it wouldn't fit with the standard for my breed anyway. Some dogs may have a learned phobia rather than a fearful temperament, which may be different. But unless you were 100% sure on that I would still look elsewhere for breeding.
  16. Gorgeous pups guys! Congratulations to you all!!
  17. Thanks Kitt. I have had plenty of enquiries from folks after a pet puppy and many people understand the term as a dog-lingo thing. But when I advertise I try and say things like - "we will have pups looking for pet and show homes". So that if a person isn't so familiar with the terms they don't necessarily think they are being offered a pet of lesser quality, more that a pup physically (and mentally) suited to being a show dog may be waiting for a home that suits that. Lots of folks understand that individual dogs are suitable for different things, but people can also being offended easily by the written word if it's not put in a way that fits witht their perceptions.
  18. I now! And all the vast variations on blu and staff - I can scarcely believe they can contine to approve them, just on similarity grounds!
  19. What a horrible savage rabbit... At the shelter I used to work at we took in everything. Lots of stray birds as they can be so sneaky at diving out of a cage and going for a fly - ending up lost and lonely they find a person to help. One little Cockatiel was brought in with the story "He flew into our backyard". First of all, they knew it was a male and it was happily sitting on their hand... Secondly, his wing was clipped so brutally short he had all the flying ability of a rock. I pretty much knew he was theirs and they were avoiding a surrender fee and questions. But little birdie came first so did his time as a stray. Surprise surprise no-one came looking for him. Their loss really, I adopted him and he is still our adored family pet years later. :nahnah:
  20. Sounds lovely! Maybe post a link in the Show Ring section as I'm sure some travelling show folks and pooches would love a stop over in your little bit of paradise. Southern Tablelands can be reasonably accessible to Erskine Park and Canberra too - depending on whereabout you are of course! Best of luck with such a wonderful venture!
