Sudden Reversal Of House Training In Puppy!
Bundyburger replied to UltimatePup's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
She's 10 weeks old, you can't expect her to have gotten it already. As others said, check for UTI, and also just go back to the basics. She will come good, don't panic Ours slept through from 10 weeks but he wasn't toilet trained fully until 8 months as we had a few set backs along the way. Now he's solid as a rock and has a steel bladder.. He can hold on for over 12 hours I only know this cos he won't toilet in the rain -
After last night I am sooooo grateful that Bundy's breeder desensitises them all when they are little. He slept through, even when there were constant rumbles of fireworks for over 2hrs and thats not including the illegal ones being let off on 3 sides of us. Poor Diesel was panicking, and didn't stop until the last firework did. He really really hates them.

I checked my bills today after I took one dog to the vet. Tis $49 for one, $59 for two for us normally, sometimes it's 59 EACH, it just depends on the day Our vets always allow for 'free' return visits within the next week if necessary ( I know cos we had this convo when he said we have to come back in 7 days if he's not better).

Top 10 Surgically Removed From Pets
Bundyburger replied to dogbesotted's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My boys sister eats stockings... Ours eat holes in our undies (not so much now) but they've never needed surgery. -
My aunt was up in darwin, and her dog protected her. They were in a park, and an indigenous homeless man came up to her and was threatening her and I think, I don't rember was trying to assault her. My aunts dog ran up barking and growling and chased the person away. If it wasn't for the dog things could've been different.

I have one who comes everywhere with me, and another who stays home. When the kelpie stays home OH is normally there so he doesn't really 'miss out' as he gets one on one with my OH which he doesn't get as much now the Viz is here, so he doesn't mind. I'm hoping to get him to a stage where he can come places too but it's a work in progress with his car fear and DA and other things. I try not to leave him home totally alone though, as he will howl and cry and it makes me sad so I end up leaving the Viz with him for company instead

Pork Pies Or Lies The General Public Tell Us
Bundyburger replied to freundhund's topic in General Dog Discussion
OH's grandparents were telling me that our 15mth old Vizsla reminds them of their friends golden retriever I just smiled and nodded. -
I love our vets as well and just like another client who is a member on here, I would drive right across Sydney if I moved. I pay whatever he asks - mostly because Stormie said she's a Kick Boxing Champion and would kick my arse if I didnt pay up so I just quake in fright when it comes to bill time, hand over my American Express card and tell her to go for her life I wish i could justify the 2hrs driving... although by the time we move my parents/aunt and uncle will have found a decent vet in the area we're going to, so we should be right...

Well this is medical, not trade. If you go to the Doc's can you get your partner seen to as well for one consult fee or reduced? I THINK NOT!! Ahh my doctor does exactly this... It's one of the many reasons we drive over an hour to see him Our vet charges a long consult fee depending on what's to be done, eg vacs, but OH has been using them for so long that we get a discount on top of that anyway so it ends up being the price of one consult I love our vets, I'll miss them when we move. ETA - There would be no quibbling if they charged two consults, we fully expect to. It's a nice surprise on the odd occasion we don't have to.

I'd fly the pup. 1.5hr flight versus 8 hours in a car! Not to mention the 16hrs worth of driving for you to pick upt he pup. My boy flew from Tassie, and arrived something like 2hrs late due to weather issues and he was no worse for the experience.. he just wanted cuddles and sleep! My boy has been fine in the car from day one.

Flat collar or more recently a martingale here. It depends on what mood Bundy is in.. if he's behaving well it's the flat, if he's a pain the martingale.

When god gave out brains, Major thought he said trains and he missed his.. Silly dog!! Glad he's ok... Bet you'll be thinking twice taking him to the beach again now.

Getting Puppy To Sleep Not On The Bed Help Please :)
Bundyburger replied to kitkatswing's topic in Puppy Chat
Right answer but the debate is mainly on what is "old enough". :D If microchipping breaks your heart.. you wait till he gets desexed... You *really* won't want to leave him outside then Gawd that was the worst week of dog ownership I swear!! -
I guess that explains why I'm a nasty pastie today and yesterday ;) Our two are just energizer bunnies on speed.

Getting Puppy To Sleep Not On The Bed Help Please :)
Bundyburger replied to kitkatswing's topic in Puppy Chat
Dogs are social animals first and foremost. They prefer to sleep with their pack. That's you. But its your choice. I'd anticipate some noise issues at night though if he's outside. He's going to need a very well insulated kennel and if that's where you plan to sleep him, he should be in it ASAP. Of course we expect some issues to start with, happens with any new animal. He has a very good kennel to go into, he will be in it when he is old enough... Wow, such varied opinions!!! You are just confusing him by changing the 'rules'. If you want him outside he should be sleeping outside from day one... If you let him sleep inside now, when the time comes for him to go outside you stand a good chance at ending up with a pup who screams and cries at the back door wanting to come in. We tried that with our youngest and he just didn't get it.. he just wanted to be inside with us where he'd been since he came home, tucked up in his crate. Needless to say, thats where he stays now ;) . Or if you think he must be inside for now because he's too small, at least put him in the laundry so he doesn't get too confused.. then you won't be tempted to let him on the bed either Your right, we should move him out from the bedroom asap.... I just think 8 weeks old is too young to be outside yet.... Will see how tonight goes.. I shall be strong and ignore pupppy crys,.. Can you put him in the laundry with lots of bedding to keep him warm? My dog is a bit of a princess, I'm sure some dogs would adapt, he is just too people oriented so it didn't work for us. Suits me though, I prefer them inside -
Our boy went through similar, albeit recently not at the young age your pup has. He would bark at anyone and anything. If OH walked around the corner and he got a fright he would bark... just *anything* and he never barked before. We ignored him, didn't respond to the behaviour by telling him to be quiet or anything... and he just stopped it on his own. He will only bark now if he's looking out the window and strangers walk past. Then he gets reprimanded, and he will stop. To us that is different behaviour to when he would bark at *everything* including his reflection ;) If you give him food while he is barking, you are reinforcing to him that it's ok to bark because he'll get a treat if he does.

Getting Puppy To Sleep Not On The Bed Help Please :)
Bundyburger replied to kitkatswing's topic in Puppy Chat
Thats what I thought, we should just let him whine? Its horible but I am feling like thats what we have to do.... Yes. Otherwise he learns whining = getting attention from the humans and you'll end up with a long term problem. If you can't deal with him in the same room, put him in the lounge room. Although we found our pup squealed more in the lounge but if the crate is in the bedroom there is silence. A crate is better as it's their own little 'secure' den. My boy loooves his crate and often puts himself to bed if he's really tired. If you have a crate for him it can be handy during winter if the weather is bad and you want him inside instead, or if you decide he can sleep in the house. We were going to have ours outside over summer but since the young one is in a crate and so well behaved OH has relented and they stay inside ;) -
I don't think she has staffy in her, but gee she is cute!!!

Illegal For Dogs To Wee On Nature Strip Now?
Bundyburger replied to ChocoLabs Dad's topic in General Dog Discussion
Why does this strike you as so funny? She's probably laughing at the original post re the guy saying it's illegal for dogs to pee on public lawn? I must admit, I try to stop my boy peeing on walks... -
I so could not live with that behaviour... not after what he did to your garage last time!!!

Perry's mum, i'm not talking about the kramar ones.. these are different, they're green and blue. I've only ever seen the huge kramar hard balls
