  1. Bundy wags his tail all the time.. he turns it into a full body wiggle a lot of the time. When he saw the vet a while back to have his stitches out, he was thumping his tail against the wall so hard and banging into things, that the vet was surprised he hadn't caused a tail injury yet  He constantly knocks things off the table too...
  2. If you want him to go outside, don't bother. I've posted this a few times because I had the same trouble with my boy... the meal times/drink/play didn't work for us, as he'd go in and pee straight away. I would find that i'd have to take him out to go, take him inside to break the focus and straight out to toilet again. If you watch carefully they walk funny with a full bladder or even if it's not fully emptied so you can tell when they aren't finished. My pup used to glare at me, then sigh and go again I think the most repetitions it took was 6 before he fully emptied his bladder. Now at 1year he has a super bladder, I swear he'll hold on until he has to pee for nearly 2 minutes! I used to say the command as soon as he started sniffing. Now he'll go automatically when we let him out, but sometimes i still need to use the command.
  3. Our 20kg dog at 11 months, complete with the iv fluids and stuff afterwards cost me about $250. That was including antihistamines and other meds he had as a result of an anesthetic reaction. The older the dog is the more complex it can be due to more blood vessels and area involved.. At least my vet said something like that when I keeled over at the cost.
  4. Our Kelpie does that when he wants attention. He also paws and shoves his head under your arm when you're ignoring him. Bundy will whack at you like a cat 9/10 we wait until they stop the attention seeking THEN they can have their pats.
  5. You may even find the vet will allow you to walk her a tiny bit afterwards towards the end of the stitch time, depending on how it went.
  6. We confined bundy for 3 days, then he was back to normal in that he was allowed out of the pen again. He wasn't allowed to play games, and all he wanted to do was sleep...
  7. Ohh that'd be perfect for my red terror, pity he hasn't stopped killing his beds yet!
  8. How small are the treat holes? I ask because of issues with kongs getting stuck on the dogs tongue etc - I threw out the kong I had. They look different tho. There's no issue at all. The fun ball is squishy, you can squeeze it in your hand easily. It makes it harder for the dogs to get the treats out. Holes are star shaped sort of, with about a 5c coin hole. I tend to stuff it with bikkies and get the everlocking treats to put in it for my two. Diesel will walk around chewing on it for hours.
  9. "The good-natured Vizsla has also been called a "Velcro" dog because he is so tactile -- he likes to attach himself to people, preferably in their laps. *looks* errrm, yep, that's where mine is now
  10. Everlasting fun bal... our two mega chewers still haven't killed it. Get a large though, the medium is small!
  11. Very cute! I wouldn't waste your money on doing the dna tests, no guarantee they'll be correct anyway!
  12. Norskgra passed away today ;) http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...5578&st=105 Vicsta will be needing support from all of us. :D
  13. Can you either kennel them or find a petsitter who can come and let them inside for the night/feed them/play and then do the same in the morning?
  14. Crate in our room but OH wants to see how he goes 'free range' now he's older, so we'll be trying that this weekend.
  15. She is not 'toilet trained' on paper, she is paper trained. So she probably has no idea where you want her to go outside, so you need to teach her. Giving her a handful of food when she is hysterical is essentially rewarding her for being silly. It will be giving her very mixed signals and probably why she gets even more worked up because she thinks you will cave in and feed her every time she plays up. Even if you have to put her on a lead beside you and just give a gentle tug of correction every time she goes for the food before you tell her to. From day one, we made our boy sit and wait for his food. Now I can walk out of the room and know that he will not eat until given the command. He will drop, shake, come, sit and stay whenever I ask even when there is food because he KNOWS he'll get it when he's good. Perhaps you can even consider using her meals to train her in the basics, like sit, drop, stay and come? Then you will be channeling her food focus into something else and it could calm her down.
  16. It makes my current Viz really stinky, but his sister has been on it for years with no dramas. Kept his weight up well but he just smelt awful.
  17. Ours had kibble last night. Fresh4Paws mince tonight
  18. Love it! If you ever want another doggy subject, Bundy could be convinced
  19. Miss T is Tiana's young daughter How scary Kristie, I hope you're ok
  20. I think she's cuuuute I hope you get to the bottom of it.
  21. People do this near our house all the time, it makes me so angry. We had a dog run in front of our car one night, luckily i'd already told OH to slow down because it was running over the road further up, cos we nearly hit it when it ran in front of the car Our offlead park is right near the edge of a road and I'm always worried that my boy will manage to find the gate out and run onto the road, so I tend to not take him anymore
  22. Do you use a clicker? If you lure will she stay there or pop back up? I had the same problem with my boy. I ended up luring him down, standing straight, saying drop with a hand signal then quickly click treating. Didn't take long for him to get drop with the aid of the clicker. If he didn't do it first go with the lure I'd push on his shoulders to guide him down. I now have a dog that'll throw himself on the floor in a drop almost every time as soon as I ask. This was after battling without the clicker for close to four months. Until I tried it with the clicker, I didn't think we'd ever get it!! Still working on consistency but it's 200% improvement.
  23. Quit work to be a full time carer to a cat? eek.. I couldn't do that. Lucky cat
