  1. The VCA won't publicise a FB page that it doesn't control nor should it. Fraught with danger there.
  2. people get away lightly with murder, harsher penalities won't stop the idiots. It really needs to be drummed into people that dogs, of all breeds, sizes and ages, have the capacity to bite.
  3. If the coat is deep male dogs often pee on them. I think it is a bit unfair to bag someout here unless they are also a member. Right of reply and all that.
  4. I use a heavy duty garbage bin with a locking lid. Nothing can get past that baby! Mind you it has always been in the house somewhere but it is a really thick plastic.
  5. how true - I'll duck with you if I looked after myself they way I look after my dogs
  6. yes, the Christmas card thread always creates good feelings and makes many people feel they count. We just need someone to collect then on send.
  7. just use a ticking clock outside the crate/bed. IMO nothing saves a few sleepless nights, it's part and parcel of being a puppy owner
  8. I think the survey was to find out if fat and lazy owners had fat and lazy dogs.
  9. My boy dog is extremely suspicious of any food he doesn't have to work for, because it's almost always a vegetable
  10. It is not their call, it is not their dog.
  11. I can't let this go unanswered. You do not know anything about the previous owners. I've had a dog with mange. Did you know it can be caused by stress? Did you know one type can be caught by a dog just by exploring wombat holes? Not that that is likely with this pup I grant you. The pup has a blood illness, according to vet, it might have been treated but somethings take time and in that time pup can look much worse. Pup could have been lost for a couple of days, combine that with all ready being ill and yes it won't look too good. Do Not assume.
  12. Well, the vet was going to put her down there and then.... and she is not registered or chipped. I will suggest they call the pound and see what to do about it, she is in pretty bad form by the sounds of it, do pounds look after the medical side of things in the mean time? the vet was in the wrong as well and if pup is only 8 weeks old might not have had time to be chipped. By the sounds of things the pup is just a stray but as pup does have some health problems it could make her look like she is unwanted. No way to know. I don't know what happens in NSW pounds but does you friend really want a sick dog to look after that may cost her a small fortune and be sickly all her life? Sound harsh I know but................. Let the proper authorities look after the pup, your friend can put her name down to adopt if pup is deemed fit for sale. And if she is PTS then that might well be the best option for her.
  13. pup needs to go to the pound. By keeping her your friend is basically stealing her.
  14. this is when you need to take her outside and stay outside until she goes. Every year my girl and I have the same argument about going outside when the weather turns cold. I always win. But there is no way she would wee in the house unless desperate. I don't like my dogs to get desperate so take them out at regular intervals. Then we can all relax.
  15. I just have to say that a broken spine does not always mean pain.
  16. with happy tail, if you don't get it under control it often ends up with part of the tail being amputated.
  17. but this could not be done without learning the right way (is there a right way?) long term,or on a dog left alone - could it? the mind boggles that is why I had previously suggested Googling happy tail. From memory you have something soft( fleece material ) attach it half way up the dogs tail, run it between the hind legs to the collar. I wouldn't use it on a dog left alone.
  18. I filled it in. Was surprised at no option for raw and just checked the last box for the type of feeder because mine do sometimes get leftovers, when I cook pasta for me there is always some leftover for the dogs. They even had some chips from my left over fish and chips the other day.
  19. which is what I will be doing. No need for chip numbers until you say the brindle boy is for sale. Fine to say 6 beautiful pups born, some may be available for sale at a later date, without having to put chip numbers in.
  20. get some wound guard spray from the vet and spray it on the tail/bandage. None of my dogs will touch it. Pure 100% lavender oil is also good, can be put directly on the wound but also on the bandage. Again none of my dogs will touch anything with lavender on it. won't even get on my bed if i have put a few drops on my pillow. Unless the dog injures his tail so bad there is no need to see a vet but it does need to be protected from the banging against objects. Another way it to tie his tail to his collar so it can't be wagged very much at all. I've never tried it but some people have had good luck with it. Agree with applying strips of sticky lengthwise down the tail, never around and around.
  21. The VCA has changed their ruling on supplying puppy papers within 14 days of them going to their new home to 30 days to accommodate the chip on the paperwork. But I am not sure if they updated the puppy buyers guide which was something along the lines of what you posted above. I'm quite happy to let my pups go a week after vaccination, I think Jean Dodds says 3 days after is fine. I don't want to pay for fast tracking, think they are making enough money out of me, but am prepared to be flexible on that.
  22. google happy tail or do a search in the health forum, it's quite common
  23. oh no I have just caught up with this news. I can't believe I am crying for a little homeless waif. I am usually much tougher then this but Cookie really touched my heart. Thank you K9Angel for doing all you could. RIP little Cookie
