Incidence Of Heartworm In Nsw, Qld & Sa
Rebanne replied to Inevitablue's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As much as I dislike regularly inflicting chemicals on to my dogs this is the one I always keep up to date. The treatment to cure is pretty bad ( unless it's changed ) and I much prefer prevention. Several years ago the dog next door came down with heartworm after her owner missed a dose. -
just register the dog as what it looks like. Worked for me. And be honest with adopters that they are adopting a mutt and you have no way of knowing what breeds went into the makeup of their dog. I dislike the what am I threads and fully agree with Diva. The dogs are mutt's, admit it and get on with life. Never made me love my mutt less then my purebreds.

Heartworm Protection Dosage Intervals?
Rebanne replied to teekay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm not an expert but I only give my dogs their heartworm tablets every 6 weeks in the cooler months, going to monthly only in the summer months. My dogs are smooth coated, we have lots of mozzies and they are out in the yard when I am at work. -
who cares what job it is, no way would I sell a pup to someone who intended putting it in a kennel every 2nd week and I wouldn't care how good the kennel was. I wouldn't sell them an adult either.

yes you need to take her to the vet asap you wormed an already sick dog possibly making her sicker

Missymoo had a win today as well. I saw her with a Cairn going in for a class in show, which Cairn and which class not sure lol

Fern and I never got started as show commitments with my boy got in the way and then Fern had to have a histyocytoma (thankfully benign) removed from her leg right above the paw. Not sure she'll ever be sound enough to stand up to an ET but we'll see next year.

it couldn't just be slipped in anywhere unless they had actually got the schedule in on time. Which is 5 months prior. If it was sent in 4 months prior it still wouldn't have been published in the gazette. All clubs have to follow these regulations. I read it as the club did not submit anything to the VCA hence no show.

I'm quite happy to enter the same show and have done so as long as there was no chance of meeting up in GS.

Rolf is a stunner and it seems a well made match all around. His former owners must be so pleased, I would be if Rolf had been mine.

and mine about 5am, no thanks

I'm going for the Saturday only, I'm watching the piggy bank closely as well.

I don't enter under the breeder of my girl. I don't even enter the pups I bred from the bitch under the bitches breeder.

Whippet In Qbyn Pound
Rebanne replied to keetamouse's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
she looks like a whippet cross, doesn't mean she has any whippet in her at all. -
I know how ridiculous!!! As if dogs would care whether they have a 4 poster bed and a TV (well mine wouldn't anyway). I am sure most dogs would prefer exercise, human interaction, company and mental stimulation. my dogs care very much about their bedding and would love a couch or 4 poster bed to sleep on while in the kennel. :D

Congratulations!

I don't allow my dogs to be kenneled together why on earth would I want them to mix with strange dogs???
-
not a whippet but a blue brindle greyhound approx 2 weeks old 4 weeks 10 weeks old
-
can take a few weeks now you have to microchip them before submitting the paperwork. Try ringing the VCA with your breeders name/prefix and they should be able to tell you if the breeder is currently registered and may even be able to tell you if the papers are being processed.

yeah for Capanash and Valli

I don't see why a partial torsion couldn't resolve itself ie dog squirming around might be enough to do so. But that would be very rare. More likely it was just bloat, not torsion.

My bitch stopped feeding her last litter when they were 3 weeks. By 5 weeks old they were on supercoat puppy, sometimes soaked sometimes not, chicken necks or wings or minced chicken carcass's. That was the staples. Also large "all day gob stopper" bones to gnaw on. Extra's like eggs, sardines were fed whenever. I wouldn't feed so many different foods all mashed together at the same time. Bit of tough love needed I think, that or they are still getting plenty from Mum.

Congratulations Rainy and Ronnie

I have just found out that a boy I bred, Brantarby Winter Knight, was shortlisted for Grp 4. Not bad for a gawky 10 month old greyhound, not bad indeed. :D Congratulations Vanessa and Merlin.
