Heated Dog Beds On Special If Anyone Has A Cold Dog :-d
Rebanne replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have 4 of these, dogs and cats all give them a thumb's up. They never feel more than slightly warm to the hand, the animals weight helps get the heat up. -
How To Keep An Older Dog Warm Outside During The Day?
Rebanne replied to charliehotel's topic in Aged Dog Care
I leave coats on my dogs when they are outside and I am at work. -
no, that is your choice if you choose to ignore your breeder's advice. Unless you have been in the breed for a few years, owned a few of the breed and at least studied the breed in the ring or the field, actually health tested etc, what on earth makes you think your judgement is better?

Do You Have Heating Pads For Your Dogs?
Rebanne replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've got 4 heated pet beds, 2 big enough for the greys, 2 which are supposed to be for the cats but they all share. -
and limited register does not mean second best either

The only thing I found out about the rule on the VCA website is what has been previously broadcast. Can't show a bitch past 4 weeks in whelp and after the pups are 10 weeks old unless you have a vet certificate saying bitch is healthy and can be shown. Also found a rule saying if you are an interstate member showing in Vic you have to abide by the VCA rules and regs. Not sure what happens if the VCA stuff differs to another state. And yes who regulates it? RSG has a very good point, pups can leaves at 8 weeks, why does a bitch have to stay home for another 2? Couldn't find the new rules about microchipping pups in Vic either. Very confusing

Had GSD's for years now have the greys. Can't see that changing at all. I like lots of other dogs and sometimes flirt with the idea of getting a different breed but the only one I really drool over is the Borzoi. Not likely to ever get one cause they need grooming, I'm not into grooming at all, but I can admire.

have to say I agree, the Myra Savant-Harris books are my bibles. I have other, very good books but I keep coming back to Myra.

the ruling about not showing a bitch until 10 weeks after whelping, is that Australia wide or only in Victoria? If it is only a Victorian rule can a person be penalised by showing their bitch in another state before the 10 weeks are up? I just want to know the ruling not whether or not it should be done thank you.

not in Melbourne

maybe you could give people a bit more information about yourself, where is the info going etc and provide a proper email address, rather then a "freebie' one

Lovely photo, so glad you are happy with your girl

Really it doesn't matter what any one on a forum thinks, you can tell the breeder all the responses but they mean nothing. Just cause one person says they would refund etc and another says suck it up, it's all pointless. It's like asking how long is a piece of string. We have only heard your side, it's a faceless forum, no one knows what is really going on or how you really reared the dog.

OCD and HD can both occur through no fault of anyone. Or it can occur cause the pup was bred from poor parents or the owner has not raised it properly. Food not suitable, wrong exercise, parents with poor structure. Very variable. The only person who can help you is the breeder. Everyone does things/will respond differently, no one here can tell you what the breeder will do or should do. eta fix spelling

I am pretty sure I read it here but can't find the post. Who else has the book "Gazehounds: The Search For The Truth" by Constance O. Miller? My 2nd hand copy has just arrived and a few pages are blank. I am hoping they are printed correctly in someone elses copy and that person may be kind enough to scan them for me.

I have 4 dogs. When I feed totally edible bones I supervise the dogs, sometimes all 4 out in the yard with me but more commonly only 2 at a time. With the all day gob stoppers like split marrow bones, they all get a go one at a time in the yard. After the bones have been out for a few hrs and all had a good chew they loose their value and any combination of dogs can be outside with the bones. I pick up old bones when I get sick of them cluttering up the back verandah or when they get new ones.

quite common in the racing greyhound world I believe to use a whelping service

me too

as far as it takes

sometimes they do, blood tests etc don't always show/tell the whole story. Sometimes animals are operated on for a look see. I imagine it's not done as often now as it has been in the past as technology has improved in leaps and bounds.

so how do you propose vet students learn if you aren't willing to let them learn on your pets? cadavers. And I am willing to let already EXPERIENCED vet students learn on my pets as long as there is an experienced vet assisting them. And for those vet students to become experienced... again... I say cadavers. I think you missed the bit when we said that we weren't happy to trust our dogs life on someone who was still learning not to be sqeamish around dogs and insides and euthanasia etc etc. we? I was quoting and responding to you and I don't recall you qualifying your statement that way - until now.
