yes that is true but hopefully those registered breeders were breeding from cleared stock to leesen the chances of a pup being affected, not to mention some problems are also enviromental and no breeder has control over that. BYB's don't bother doing the correct tests so their pups are more of a genetic mine field. It must always be remembered that dogs are living, breathing creatures and sh!t happens sometimes no matter what you do. A registered breeder who has done the right things cuts down on the risks a buyer takes with purchasing a new family member.

ok do you know that the new owners can change the 2nd contact? Unfortunately no one can guarantee their dog or one of their breeding will never end up in the pound if only because accidents can happen, not to mention how some people are really good at telling porkies to get what they want, then don't do the right thing. Also contracts usually aren't worth the paper they are written on. And how do you know they won't breed sometime down the track, the people who sold you registered dogs possibly thought the same thing about you. All said without malice.

I didn't say that at all but if that's the way you want to take it be my guest. What I was saying was the breeders forum has a lot of advice etc on it and yes people talk about their mistakes on it. What they would do differently or better the next time. It does matter where you post if you want informed answers, this area is for general topics, if you have a particular topic in mind it is best to post in the appropriate forum to get the most informed answers. You can post breeders questions here but it doesn't mean you would get as many answers then if you had posted in the Breeders forum. Many people stick to one or two forums, some never venture into, say rescue or puppy.

How can the litter be registered if you are not registered? has the bitch been transferred or leased to another, registered, person? I think you can write on the paper type bands so not enough colours doesn't matter. ETA, saw the bit about the xrays, so they were sent away and scored?

I think the bit I bolded is what raised warning signals for people. The bands are $7, postage included. To say they are too expensive made me wonder and I obviously wasn't the only one. Well personally, I would pay thousands and more if needed on my dogs, but if I could do the Exact same thing for $10? I would certainly rather that option! So possibly the OP means she would rather not pay $7 per band when she could buy something similar for 10c. Then again I could be wrong. The ones I looked at were $7 for 14 bands, 2 each of 7 different colours, not $7 each, maybe there are more expensive ones there as well? Off for another look

your "breeder" should be providing you with a diet sheet etc. Enrol in puppy school asap, you have picked the most dominant pup and sounds like you will need help keeping him in line. It is your job to make sure this little bloke grows up to be a good canine citizen.

I had an entire GSD bitch that was fine at home but a bit of a terror when out, with other bitches, until she was desexed. Fern, entire greyhound bitch, rules the roost here and therefore can give any of the others a bit of a hurry up if she feels like it. Packs have 2 leaders, the top dog and the top bitch, so, IMO, if the others accpet the leader, no problems, if one won't then you have a problem.
