  1. so what happened to the ones you couldn't sell, how long did you keep them for, where did they go at night, what stimulation was provided for them?
  2. never ever would I sell or give any pup I bred to a pet shop. I would give them to a reputable rescue if need be or PTS.
  3. really curious on how the vet would know what the pups Mum looked like when you said in another thread you got her from a pet shop :D
  4. get a letter from your vet who can state the tooth was lost due to an accident ( if that is what happened), then you can show it to the judge if there are any questions
  5. but she's a cross breed, how do you know she inherited her stomach from the cav parent if indeed one parent was actually a purebred cav, never can tell with pet shop puppies. Hope she comes good, just give her plain boiled chicken for a few days and while you are waiting for her tum to settle down, have a read of the nutrition forum and do some goggling so you can make informed choices about your pup. Personally I would prefer optimum over any hills science food any day.
  6. mine have tiny scars, little lines
  7. depends on the breed and the breeder
  8. I have had great success with Bach Flower remedies when tailored for the dog for the particular problem. I have also had failures, mainly anything to do with anxiety when travelling (tried all sorts of things for that) and rescue remedy when used as a general cure. I get mine, when needed, from my vet. Haven't needed anything for a long time, but she does a consult, then makes up the remedy based on the consult. If it didn't work she would make another, free of charge, but most times it was spot on. Hmm, I haven't tried her for the travelling anxiety, best I make an appointment I think!
  9. I have a 13 and 1/2 year old dog here who, if she gets caught short, will always wee on a dog bed. Easier to clean a dog bed then the carpet, easier still to make sure she never gets caught short. I've never left a 5 month old loose in the house. Mine only get to be loose in the house, without me being around, after they are at least 12 months old. If i do leave them in the house before then they are crated.
  10. while I obviously think greyhounds just about walk on water they are still dogs and still need to be matched carefully to the new owners home and lifestyle. Many are not suitable for kids, they have never seen them or interacted with them. Just because they might just lay there and let a kid do whatever does not mean they like what it being done to them. Greyhounds are well known for shutting down, turning into statues, when things happen that they don't like. It's why vets like them, they will just stand there. But it doesn't mean that one day they won't react. Please people, do not make out that greyhounds are faultless, because they do have faults, they are after all still a dog. Very damn special but still a dog.
  11. I sincerely hope that with all this shuffling around of semen and lack of interest by some staff that it has all be stored correctly
  12. from the other side of the gate. If a dog in a front yard runs up to the fence barking at my dogs being walked past I do stop. I refuse to be pulled around by my dogs who want to get to the fence barking dogs, I refuse to let the fence barking dogs win by seeing mine off. I walk off when my are back under control and the other dogs let us go quietly ie not chasing us the length of the fence barking, snarling, yapping. If, very rarely, a person actually comes out I tell them what I am doing, politely. If they don't like it too bad. eta fix spelling ps I never stop to talk to dogs inside fences so never incite barking but be buggered if I am going to rush past certain houses because people think they can leave their dogs in the front yard to rush at innocent people and dogs walking by.
  13. ask around, there is always someone happy to help, that's what I've found anyway
  14. no they just plucked dogs at random and hoped for the best! This is a couple of years old now. It was discussed here at the time.
  15. not now, they get marrow bones a couple of times a week but I am trying just dry food for now and so far it's good. I decided it was only fair to cut out all extra's and see if all these claims are anywhere near true
  16. nope, didn't work here when my greys were on all raw. Chicken didn't agree with one, red meat didn't agree with another. So it was half and half for a while, with a lot of mucking around, now we are all dry, have been for a few weeks and one has put on weight and the others are getting there. The diet that is most suitable is the one the dogs do well on.
  17. Miller is 18 months old and skinny as. I just accept it as part and parcel of being a young, very active hound. He get 3- 4 cups a day of dry food, plus extra's like chicken thighs and drumsticks. If no extra's he gets 4 cups. Currently on optimum. I find porridge puts weight on them and mine all get some in the winter. Another goodie is lamb flaps.
  18. well the answer is no unless you get permission to do so.
  19. I think the bigger issue is why you can not leave the dog home alone?
  20. I am interested in getting semen from Canada but the AQIS web site I found is very confusing. Is there a more straightforward link? I want to know what tests need to be done, are titre test's acceptable?
  21. do you have the stats on this, would love to see them as I am very interested
