  1. My little black dachy will go under the covers to go to sleep, and my standard red dachy Meg gets so excited and pounces and "talks" (rowr rowr rooowr rowr) and jumps on the 'evil quilt monster' as I call it, she looks like a cat but when she pounces its so funny to watch Mind u, this is the same red dachy that rolls on her back, sings to herself and squirms about like she's scratching her back.... Oh the antics of our fur kids!
  2. Back when I was younger, my parents always got dogs from BYB's as far as my memory recalls- we've had a foxy terrier who passed with a slipped disc as a result of someone kicking her at age 4; A staffy cross with major behavioural issues; A beautiful white staffy that fell in love with the neighbours down the road, she stayed with them for a week when we were on holiday and loved it. She is now twelve years old, happy and healthy, and helped her owner through some tough times; A jack russel who is five years old, beautiful dog with no health problems and socialises great; And currently my two dachshunds. Meg I suspect was from a BYB but had all her shots, socialises well and is friendly; Gypsy was flown from Melbourne from a -cringe- pet store, in very good health and brilliant personality. I got my two before I joined DOL and have since learnt, but am so happy with my two girls. My dogs in the future are going to be rescue dogs.
  3. Just some photos of my dachshunds I thought I'd share Gypsy, the black one turned one in June, and Meg turns two in November.. Naughty but cute
  4. Little dog.... but BIG personality. My mini is currently sooking up to me coz she misses me when I'm at work. Good choice of breed!
  5. Aww they are so cute... I want one!!!! Fingers crossed no. 8 appears!!
  6. My mini dachshund sprints down the hallwall and does this HUGE leap into beanbag, jumps around, jumps out, then back in again... its hilarious!! Meg sleeps like a cockroach and does a doggy groan when I move, like "maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam don't moooooooooove!!" Now we have our 6 year old jack russel Jess home... she's picking up bad habits from the girls... and when she runs up to you she kinda runs sideways like a crab in a shy way up to you! Gypsy is the funnier one of the three... shes so little and attacks toys bigger than her, and when she jumps its just funny to watch!
  7. Sooo precious..... LOVE it when Ringo is showing her the ball, absolutely divine!!!!
  8. Poor thing, I'd be devastated if I were her.
  9. Oooohh.... Mine would be - Dachshund - I own 2 - Staffy- Have had when I was little, beautiful dogs :D - Doberman- just a breed that interested me when I was looking for my first dog, but decided on dachshund instead - Beagle- me and my brother think they are adorable, but I know how much trouble they can get into with their noses! - Finnish Lapphund- When I first saw Ashoka on here I fell in love, beautiful colours!! - German Shepphard- my bf had one but she passed on a year ago, beautiful dog. - Bernese Mountain Dog- Saw one down the street, beautifully trained! - Border Collie- soooo much energy, love it. - Siberian Husky- a friend in adelaide has three of them, and they are so beautiful and friendly and SNEAKY! - Irish Setter- just stunning to look at
  10. Wake up in the morning usually involves Meg flying off the bed to go outside, and Gypsy won't even want to get out of bed... but when I get home from work, Meg just stares at me like she's saying... "Hang on, she's home. Is it really?" then lets out this yelp and runs straight to the back door. Gypsy goes into wiggle mode and looks like she's trying to snap her back in half -from shaking her bum and tail so hard- Meg gets louder the less time she spends away from me. Gypsys' pretty quiet so I don't hear much More stories of greetings!!
  11. One person might not be able to change a huge problem, but if you can help one or two in a horrible situation, then it makes the world a better place. For example, you've got dogs- you're saving them from a life in pounds, on the streets, from a horrible situation- then hell, you're doing alright. That's the way I chose to look at it, otherwise my head would implode from all the horrible stuff going on in the world and thinking how on earth can I help to stop this.
  12. HAHAHAHAHHAHA @Are Bullterriers good with Children. I had to try so hard not to laugh!!!!!!!!
  13. I had the same thing happen yesterday Except luckily the owner was there and called the dog back, but this dog was growling and ran straight for Meg- my two werent even fazed, only took mere seconds, but it scared the hell outta me because I've been bitten by dogs before. The owner just stood there and called his dog back and looked at me like I was some daft idiot- even though his dog was offleash and charging. I always wear sneakers. Normally screaming and kicking will get the job done, but if they are in complete attack mode just gotta do what you can. I will make no apologies for kicking other peoples dog's when they are being aggressive.
  14. I watched up until the dumpster, and i'm horrified... I will watch the rest when I'm not at work so i can cry my eyes out. Human beings can be a horrible, horrible race.
  15. Oh my... those poor puppies In all of a matter of seconds... I carry a bum bag with bags, treats, whistle and phone with camera. Would not hesitate to kick any dog that attacked my girls, but they r so fast. Speedy recovery furkids, all thoughts to them and your aunty.
  16. *Big* Healing vibes being sent your way. "LEt go when she's tired"...... WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING TO PEOPLE THESE DAYS I was just out walking myself when we got charged by a heavy set dog the height of my girls, but its intentions were pretty clear and I ended up screaming my head off... the owner just stood by the house and watched... Your poor Aunty, hope she's coping ok and hoping these two beautiful dogs heal quickly.
  17. This is quite disturbing- can only hope the dog gets found before it does some more serious damage. And as for the lady leaving him with his injuries? A cowardly and inhumane act, karma will come around and get you, no doubt about that. She's not only criminally liable, but he could probably do her in the civil courts as well. Unfortunately the outlook for the dog looks pretty grim thanks to this stupid lady- its a shame as to what good training and socialisation can do for a dog. Here's hoping this dog doesn't attack a small child or anyone else- thoughts are with this elderly man and hope he recovers well.
  18. That was hilarious... I loved the running commentary, and how he took it for a ride!!
  19. And it is not pronounced sausage dog either! This annoys me and I don't even own the breed, just handle some gorgeous longhairs! Or Collies are Lassie Dogs, or Shelties are Mini-Lassies. Or weiner dogs, hot dogs or road trains. Not to be placed on the barbecue or eaten in a bun. I had one friend ask me if he got a bun long enough could he place my miniature in there for a laugh ...
