  1. Dogs do suffer from dementia, I have had 2 that started to exhibit strange behaviours around that age, 14/15 years old, I wouldn't rule this out. Maree CPR
  2. That place should be taken down, a lot has gone in the past couple of years, it served it's purpose in it's day but needs to go completely.
  3. Update Well Peppe has been on the dry and I mixed some Natures Gift soft in it for the last couple of days and he is lapping it up with no side effects, so as long as he is eating it and is fine I will continue. His energy levels have increased as well, he appears to be a normal happy 12 month old pup. Maree
  4. My vet said ONLY the dry I am not convinced that he had parvo even though the test was positive, he had no blood in his poo at all, he vomited about 3 times not at my place but at the vets, I am not a vet but will do the boiled chicken tomorrow he is really alert and running around so not sure what he had, it is just that he is not eating, the amount he is is about 6 tiny pieces of dry.
  5. Thanks everyone but he isn't just that he is skinny he is recovering from parvo so his stomach is going to still be sensitive, so really need to keep it bland, I will get some chicken and rice and boil that up. Thanks Maree CPR
  6. Just wanted to let everyone know that Peppi is home and a happy healthy boy, I just need to put some weight on him, my vet has said to just feed him Supercoat puppy dry food (which he would never feed it as the norm) and let him graze, but, I need to know if I can give him anything else as he is not eating much, I know he will only eat what he needs but just need a few tips, with my other parvo dogs over the years they just start eating what the others eat, which is their normal diet Royal Canin, although this lad is only a pup, approx. 6-12 months. Any ideas would be appreciated. Maree CPR
  7. Apparently the owners have had no communication from Lance Baker at all, also according to a staff member she was taken into the foyer by a staff member for god knows what reason and then ran out the door when it was opened, this man needs to be shut down, how many other dogs will die because of him. Is there any way the owners can charge him for "animal neglect" so that there can be an investigation by the police and all the staff be interviewed including him of what actually happened, can this be done? I understand that there is an ongoing legal case against Mr Baker for the dogs that were burnt. I have spoken to the owners yesterday. Maree CPR
  8. Most will remember this boy from before Christmas, here are the before and after shots, I named him Noddie. The handsome man is my photography's new boyfriend. Maree CPR
  9. Animal Attractions/Dog World in the news again, I can't attach the article (maybe someone else can) from Saturdays Canberra Times, this time they have lost a dog and has been missing since the 3rd January. I have just been talking to the owners and they are devastated.
  10. Yes, could just be an itch :D :D :D I agree, when we get an itch we scratch our bums dogs just use the ground :D
  11. Anyone who can do a home visit in Moss Vale, it will only be on the outside of the home ie fences as the lady is in Canberra now and hopefully she can take the dog home with her. Thanks Maree CPR
  12. Merry Christmas to all, I am off to Hobart tomorrow arvo for 6 days staying at Wrest Point doing absolutely nothing, eating, sleeping and watching the yachts come in and the world go by :) Maree CPR
  13. Gee I wonder if they think a carer is too old if they are over 60 I am 63 maybe I am too old to save the dogs in the first place. Maree CPR
  14. Thanks for that but thought maybe someone on here may have one that they can tell me about as opposed to ringing the ones on Pet Rescue don't really have time to go through them all. Maree CPR
  15. Does anyone have a Maltese female around 4-5 years old who would be fine as an only dog, I have a man 74 years old in Goulburn looking as his other malt died a couple of weeks ago and he is just so lonely as she was his mate. He sounds a really nice man who is still quite active and walked his last girl every day, if anyone has one could you please let me know asap. I can get a home check done. Maree CPR
  16. He is the only dog I have ever had who NEVER barked, hard to believe but in 12 years I never heard him.
  17. It is with great sadness that I said goodbye to my "foster failure" Poncho who I adopted many years ago he was around 12 months old when he stayed and would have been approx. 12-13 years old, he was on heart meds for the last 12 months, I nearly lost him back then but he pulled through but it was too late for him yesterday. He collapsed 3 times and by the time I got him to the vets his lungs were full of fluid he rallied but once off the oxygen he just went down again, so as we all know as hard as it is to let them go we do it for them, he was really struggling the poor man. He was my sole mate and he was a Chi which are my great love. RIP little man I will miss you heaps.
  18. I agree and for those who have been doing rescue for many years comes experience, we have to be realistic as hard as it is, putting to sleep is extremely difficult but we all do it with the best interests for the dog as our top priority ie quality of life is paramount. Maree CPR
  19. This whole post about Ken has been linked to his FB page people, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Needy-Paws-Dog-Rescue-Griffith-NSW/354437464568066?group_id=0, it is good reading... Maree
  20. $1000 buys a lot of parvac for a rescue and it's volunteers to work with council on an incoming dogs vaccine trial. Needy Paws does a lot of fundraising, apparently has tins all over town, you only have to look on their FB page at the appeals and the money that people do donate to NP, vacc's in Griffith is around $50 a dog, desexing is approx.$150 for the smalls, are you saying that NP are desexing and vaccination the dogs and they then come down with Parvo that actually equates that the dogs are not doing their 14 days quarantine but go straight in for their vet work, that is certainly how I read the statement above. WTF or are you saying that they are desexed/vacc'd afterwards and then it is too expensive, well you would know when they are treated that you then have to pay for the rest of the vet work, you are committed to that dog once it gets through the parvo treatment, so what is your problem are you then having, like all of us use our own money oh!god forbid Maree
