Michael Linke wants to work with rescue, not sure in what capacity, some rescue/breed groups had a meeting a couple of years ago and briefly talked about this issue once the new shelter was up and running, nothing really came out of it but it was good to see us all together chatting about different things. I am sure Michael will get us all back later or closer to 2016 to pool ideas from everyone and see how we can all work together which will be a first I think in Australia. Maree CPR

Andrew was a ranger here in Queanbeyan and he was great here and yes he loves the dogs, I already have 2 surrenders coming to me this weekend that were in the pound. Maree CPR -

That's what they want them to do , this is so over the top and laughable that it is quite scary to think a human can go on national media and actually have it come out of her mouth. Look what happened with the buy back scheme for the guns......people are still being killed.....

Looking For A Chi In Foster Care
keetamouse replied to Eleni's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
As Chi's are my great love I have to agree with Dogmad, unless they have grown up with kids from when the kids are born, they just don't like them and will snap if the kids do what small kids do, most people don't know that Chi's prefer their own kind and are not as a rule happy with bigger dogs. There are of course exceptions to that rule. I have a Chi cross in care at the moment but as said she would not be good around kids, I also have a pure bred girl around 4 years old but she loves to play so needs another dog for company, she is tan and white, can I ask why your mum prefers a black/white or dark colour? My first foster dog was with me for 11 months, not really what you want for your first, he went to a friend of mine in Yass and I cried all the way home to Queanbeyan. Every time I went to the pound I just burst into tears. The best piece of advice I got was from Raelene in ARF which was " just think of it that the dog is not yours, you are just looking after it for it's new home" that was the turning point for me and over 450 dogs in 13 years I still get the warm feeling all over again knowing they are going to have a great life one that I can't give them. It appears the posts in the negative are mostly interstaters, the ones in the area are going on what they have "heard" around town, the ones in the positive for Jan have and will continue to use her for the obvious reasons and when I am on that side of town, that is enough for me. :) Maree CPR

and you know this how? Via my carer who is a close friend of Jan's and takes her dogs and my foster dogs to her when needed, I think that is pretty much from the "horse's mouth" Maree CPR

The vet advised the owner to come in with the cat and he declined Maree CPR

Thank you Staffyluv for taking her , not all previous owners are heartless, there are many who it kills them to let them go, but do it for the dog. Maree CPR -

I had an older Poodle die at the after hours vets and I wanted to know what he died of, they know me there and said it would cost me $1000 for them to open him up, I then said "well can you put him in your freezer and I will pick him up at 3 and take him to my vet WQVH and Hamish can open him up for much less than that" she then said they would do it and not charge me, it took them no longer than 30 seconds and came and told me he had massive tumors that had grown so big they blocked many organs and he died from that, I don't begrudge them charging to open him up, BUT, to charge a grand for 30 seconds is just a complete rip off.
