  1. The canine brand name is Metacam which used to be sold as a liquid with an eyedropper that you used to put it on their food rather than using tablets. But yes very pricey. ETA In some individuals, supplements such as glucosamine don't work or actually make things worse. It all depends on the root cause of the inflammation.
  2. Clearly my previous posts proved otherwise. Or do you need more screenshots? If you look at Tbroils post count and then try to find them you will see that at least two or three posts have been removed as her count does not tally to the number of posts listed. Except if I look up her content I get 9 posts which is what her count is ETA it is now 10 on both counts
  3. http://www.dolforums...13#entry6096113 What about this one that was deleted? try and follow the dead link to my previous post. http://www.dolforums...ost__p__6096171 The links work for me
  4. If Simi has never had bloods done before, its a good way to get a baseline and to check for issues to do with organs like the kidneys and liver which often don't show until its serious. Pre-anaesthetic blood tests have saved some dog's lives but for the majority, they just confirm that the dog is normal. Ultimately, its up to you.
  5. Yes. I have noticed that. She never seems to post in the same thread twice.
  6. To start with I would check the fine print on whatever they signed to board him.
  7. The (usual) procedure is you pay upfront and then get your vet to fill in a claim form afterwards which you then send in to the insurance company. Sometimes the issue of insurance comes up in conversation with the vet especially if there are treatment or diagnostic options. For example, the vet might say "We can wait and see, we can do blood work or we can put them in for observation and run lots of tests". A person might reply with "I have insurance, find out what's wrong" The other thing to consider is that similar symptoms can have different causes and hence different treatments and costs.
  8. I think domino means the white face mask (?)
  9. Part of the tardiness of Petplan payments is that they use cheques - so it takes up to two weeks to get into a cheque run and get posted whereas others use EFT. If you have trouble with mail deliveries (like I do), Petplan can be exceedingly frustrating. I would also suggest that you send any claims with some sort of tracking/proof of receipt because Petplan are awful at handling their mail. Until it is actually being assessed no-one can tell you if they have received it or not.
  10. Pet insurance can be strain to get them to pay up. Petplan is awful for getting money out of - they assess your claim (which can take forever) and then it takes them up to 2 weeks to print and mail the cheque (insert rolly eyed man here). Lucy must have had her initial vaccination and check up with her breeder's vet so contact them and ask them for a stat dec.
  11. Yes, but you have to put the paper in the proper locked bin for it to be shredded. Some people think putting it into the recycling bin is OK because it gets recycled.
  12. I think they are banking on the fact that people would find it hard to give the puppy back in the morning.
  13. Wow! is it 3 years already? it seems like it was just yesterday... :birthday:
  14. Possible dementia could also be complicated by worsening eyesight (especially in twilight and darkness) and / or worsening hearing, which means modifying her environment to help (as well as drugs). ETA Have you read the following thread ? http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/213566-doggie-dementiaccd/
  15. ursodeoxycholic acid which is artificial bear bile. :)
  16. Jules, Would one of the meds be artificial bear vile (ursodeoxycholic acid) ? it's really good for helping the gall bladder cope.
  17. We have schnauzers (a mini and a standard) and elevated liver enzymes to us means pancreatitis or an infection in or around the liver/pancreas/gall bladder area. One of the liver enzymes that they test for shows how hard the liver is working (it's ALP or ALT I can't remember exactly). If this has been happening over a few months then whatever it is sounds more like a chronic condition rather than an acute condition like pancreatitis. We do watch the amount of fat in their diet just to be safe. Depending on what is wrong, there are supplements that might help. Fingers crossed for good news
