  1. Shows in how well you describe the dogs on your website... which is one of those I show to people so they can see benefits of adopting from a good rescue. The information given is what a pet owner needs to know to start even considering a particular dog.. & then having a base from which to make further enquiries. Just speaking for myself, I prefer lower-case bold for emphasis because I find that typography easier to read.
  2. Oh, that's gorgeous! They make brilliant commercials.
  3. Excellent post, Aphra. Your experience & insights show through.
  4. Yes, that's the kind of attitude which encourages support. They've been good, genuine & warm people from the very early days when they were a tiny rescue group on the Gold Coast. Have never lost it!
  5. That is wonderful! AWL Qld works in such a way that they get heaps of community support... like volunteers willing to help. Businesses are often happy to provide support, too. I'll be looking out for further ways to help. We've always given an annual donation & I'm a Life Member. So good to have them in Brisbane, at last.
  6. I'm so happy for that dear little dog...she's going to the best of homes.
  7. She looks adorable...& seems to have a lovely temperament. Hope all goes well.
  8. The Damchi of Bhutan. The 'Tibbie' of that country, in the region of Tibet, & related...but with a longer muzzle & bigger in size. Scroll down to 'Damchi' for pic: http://tibby1538.tripod.com/id39.html
  9. I hope AWL Qld puts in a tender. They're fantastic at gathering in community support & interest, which is needed when running a dog shelter.
  10. Probably not suitable ( a boy!)... but, just in case. AWL Qld on the Gold Coast have a very young, handsome male mini foxy X. https://www.facebook.com/AWLQLD/photos/ms.c.eJwzNDA0NTI2MDM1MDc2Mjc1MdczRBIxMUIXMQCpAQAc1gqW.bps.a.10152305163597547/10152306507327547/?type=1&theater
  11. Whenever I had a tricky to pinpoint & diagnose problem with the pets, I'd head for our University of Qld Vet Hospital. My reason being, there were a number of special interest areas on the same spot & assessment techniques had to be state-of-the-art in order to teach students. So, If you're close enough to the University of Melbourne Vet Hospital... add a visit there to your options. http://vh.unimelb.edu.au/
  12. Pixie is adorable & I notice they're looking for a foster-carer for her. Little Legs Dog Rescue are very good people to deal with.
  13. It'll be a lucky little (or big!) dog, whatever it is or wherever it comes from. Dogs are so lucky to be adopted by dog savvy & caring people. :)
  14. Not dense at all.... but dead right. :) Monika's Rescue in Sydney has a tibbie boy named Samson for adoption. He looks like he might be a 'not bred to show standard tibetan spaniel', rather than a mix. His personality of being a bit aloof at first... then sweet & loving when he's sussed you out, is tibbie-like. http://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/286801 Also Dogmad's Cleo has the tibbie eyes. My own tibbie is looking at me, with the same eyes. That sweet lady, Cleo, has a lot of tibbie in her.
  15. The Tibbie Search has now outgrown the Rescue Forum! :) Tibetansun, in Qld, are the registered breeders of top purebreds! One of theirs won Best of Breed at Sydney Royal. I think they beautifully socialize their puppies/dogs, too. Sydney couple got a baby puppy from them...& they were gobsmacked how people friendly/confident he was, with toilet training well started. Boronia, you might like to swap the topic over to the Tibetan Breeds forum. Dying to get more news & pics of Lizzie. So are all the other tibbie tragics there. :) http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/106775-tibetan-breeds-lhasa-apsos-tibetan-spaniels/page__st__1680
  16. Good point, Ams. So does the menacing order still stick interstate? Genuine question I have no idea :/ I haven't a clue either, HW. What state did Hugo go to? Whoops! Just saw your reply, Mel.
  17. Amick, she looks in great condition. I'd never guess her age from her pics. I agree with sas about trying to keep weight down. I had a senior sheltie girl, where I faced that challenge in her later years. I also agree with you that the bond two dogs have together can greatly help their well-being. You & your girl & the boyfriend are doing very well. :)
  18. Yes, I remember the breeder of one of my tibbies, visited her imports in quarantine.... as their groomer.
  19. I always swore by the University of Qld Small Animal Hospital for anything that involved the need for problem solving. They used to be at the St Lucia, Brisbane, Campus. But have since moved to the UQ Gatton campus. Here's their Internal Medicine information & how to access it, if you wish. http://www.uq.edu.au/vetschool/index.html?page=199424&ntemplate=4098
  20. Sounds like a great idea. I'll pass word around Tibbie owners in Sydney. Here's a US Tibbie who works as a library dog in a US children's library.
  21. Excellent response, Team Dog. Specially loved that neat final paragraph. The Save Hugo Campaign should've been called the Save Hugo from his Current Owners Campaign. Here's hoping he makes it to more aware & alert new owners in Cairns.
  22. From Vancouver Sun newspaper. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Suspect+Vancouver+abuse+case+ashamed+deeply+embarrassed/10142058/story.html Interesting to know if Mr Hague's lack of impulse control & empathy goes across the rest of his life...
  23. Beautifully said. I'm so, so sorry for your dad's loss.
