I think choosing the ep lines have a lot to do with it. The top winning sled dog in the single dog class at the moment is an EP bitch. Lovely girl.. It's been pretty hot your end of the country deelee could that be slowing your dog down

We're planning to move anyway but not sure how we'd broach the subject with new real estate either

Avoid the one up from the tollgate! Very bad experience there -
Retired from weightpull Finally won her first minor class in racing today. Was bikejoring- as I've switched to that for now. It's our first first :D Also placed 3rd ( by not very much) at our National Championships last weekend :D

Have You Fed A Stray Cat Lately?

Mine did this too :/ -
To be honest the only time I've thought about using daycare is when we have rental inspection and somebody won't be home to make sure Esky isn't a pest when the person goes to look in the back yard, I would just want to know it's not a free for all and the staff had brains

Esky the husky replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion

Siberian Husky Breed Variations?
Esky the husky replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
I guess there isn't a great deal of them being bred that need homes- most would be kept by the breeder or go to racing homes. They are beautiful though I'd love a pie bald or an agouti -

Siberian Husky Breed Variations?
Esky the husky replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Not really- Alaskan's are a breed within their own right. There was a recent DNA study that showed alaskan huskies as a more distinct breed than malamutes and sibes. Link About Study This feller is a littermate to the dog I was pictured running before Racing hounds on the other hand are a totally different kettle of carp. They usually have some sighthound, gun dog and alaskan husky. -
Siberian Husky Breed Variations?
Esky the husky replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes Hope is a pedigree girl. Different than what you see in the show ring sure. Racing lines seem to produce the more out there colours / patterns. Which may be something show breeders select against. She's not an alaskan ( or a tamaskan- the 'wolf hybrid' breed you mentioned in the other thread- which has no wolf blood) This is an Alaskan I had the pleasure of racing Anyone interested to see more should have a look at this :) It's a gallery from one of the biggest races this year. You can see sibes in all their shapes and forms -
Dr. Matthew Condon of Chiropet http://www.chiropet.com.au/ :) He's highly recommended :)

King Charles Cavalier- Good For Families?
Esky the husky replied to dappledgrey's topic in General Dog Discussion
Dappledgrey, while it can be nice/ reassuring to have a breeder that lives nearby, it's much better to go with one who has a good reputation and whose dogs you like. Plenty of pet owners travel to pick up dogs or puppies can be flown without much drama. :) edited to add word 'without' -
How does a dog do squats

I've got to say as speccy as those look, there are a lot of people who make scooter here, it's our primary vehicle for dryland sleddog racing. ;)

Thanks Nek, I've already got the muscle pro in the cupboard :) My understanding of Esky's problem is that she just doesn't have enough muscle in her back end, so that needs to be built up more. The chiro was really happy with her front, she's well muscled and strong there.

So Esky went to a Chiro earlier this week. He's done an amazing job, she feels like a new dog. Unfortunately I didn't make the appointment, my partner took her in for me. One of the major things I have to work on is building up the muscles in her back end. We're been given some stretches to do with her before any stenuous exercise. Also perscribed more walkies and less running. Should that walking be at my speed (slooow) or should she still be going at a decent trot? Also been instructed to give her some supplements and feed her more protein ( meat and eggs) What are the best proteins I should be giving her? The chiro also reckons she hasn't developped fully (yet?) which has blown my mind slightly. And she is also hyper flexible- my dog's a freak
