  1. Its interesting to hear about the different approaches. Pups I'm waiting to hear about are around 4 weeks of age. Guess I'll just keep being patient. (hard for me. Lol ) Just paranoid that I might get forgotten. . I'm lame I know
  2. Just wondering if any breeders can shed any light on how you deal with all the people you're going to sell pups to. As in do you have some kind of filing system or records of some kind. Or can you actually remember everyone you're going to sell a pup too?
  3. Haha heck no I'm not allowed any more arctic breeds.
  4. Dedicated might be a better word than naughty... My journey so far: procrastinate. 2+years Beginning of November: Message real estate. Tense wait. Check emails 100 + times Nov 4th. Permission for second dog granted Friday Nov 8th Write to breeder check emails all weekend Get a reply monday with an invitation to call after Wednesday anxiety call breeder- above and beyond what I was expecting. Really want a pup from him. Email on Thursday just to thank him for his time.. And now wait wait waiting for puppy pics. Worrying about being 'forgotten' Yes I'm lame
  5. Is anyone else incredibly anxious and / or impatient waiting to hear back from breeders?
  6. I'd like to know how to pronounce weim (not going to bother spelling the rest because I can't)
  7. Maybe you could talk them into buying / building a dog run for some outdoor time if they're busy. That may also help whatever breed get used to being kenneled.. Avoid arctics like sibes or mallies. ;)
  8. Sounds like a lot of votes for Nissan ;) I've been eyeing off pathfinders. After seeing one a few months back with a cargo barrier behind the front seat. ( Extra bonus if I have kids joke joke) A lot of these sound way out of my price range though, spose I have to suck it up though and buy something half decent and not a $1500 car every year or so..
  9. Ugh looks like another one of my cars is nearing `retirement'. I'm on my 3rd ish car since I started dryland racing. 3 years ago . Admittedly they've all been badly suited and/or old cars, but I'm sick of buying a car every season. Or being stuck at home on my days off because I'm worried about my car. I need something that can handle some offroad. Not really 4wd. More forestry logging trails. Not sure if I want something small that could tow and cope with the roads, or a wagon ( i camp in the back of my wagon at races). or some kind of ute... Or a 4wd.. Clear as mud? Any ideas?
  10. In my ute it was a crate in the tray, which she loved. Now in the wagon I normally pop the back seat down, cover the whole back area with a tarp and I use a modified seatbelt lead clipped in the spot the seat 'clips' into when upright. Not ideal but the crate is literally just centimetres to big for the wagon.. Lame.. Trying to find a cargo barrier I can put behind the front seat if I get a second dog.. ( or a better car) ;)
  11. Awww so excited for you dotdashdot. You;ve been waiting ages. Hope to see some pics of your pup :)
  12. Contact a member on this forum called Wayrod- A lot of people have used his services and been very very happy. Can't help you with pricing though, although I have a friend who flew her sibe boy in from nsw or vic and it worked out cheaper still than buying from a local breeder here ( not that price would be my main concern but anyway)
  13. Apparently the spitting thing, is to mimic a puppy sucking up to older dogs. You know when they lick them on the mouth.. I can't remember the basis of the other.. Poor dogs, no one's going to want to pat them
  14. Some 'interesting' advice I've heard lately with regards to a new puppy a) Piss on it's head so it knows you're the boss b) spit in it's mouth so it knows you're the boss
  15. Know what else is harmful, ill fitting harnesses ;)
  16. Just had to update. They said yes :) *squeeee* Now as dumb as it sounds my last (and biggest) hurdle is convincing my partner... /madface
  17. The only problem I have with buying more expensive balls is that due to my shoddy aim, they always end up on the roof. Much to the disgust of my inlaws dog..
  18. Ah i guess im just worried about the 'icky' bits of boy ownership. I've got a lot of indoor plants that I don't want to become toilets ( i know i know training) And the slowness of males growing a brain :p and being bigger.. In the end I want the right match for us though
  19. I know this has been.done to death, but looking at a second dog and wondering whether I'll have any issues if we get a second bitch. Our current girl is speyed. Thoughts please
  20. Damn I love how someone called Esky posted this :p I'm looking for a place but not there
  21. Thanks hippo :) I sucked it up and sent it off last night (finished of course) no response yet, hope i hear back soon. Sooo impatient
  22. Sorry to bump this back up but I have finally worked up the courage to actually write the letter. (Only taken like 4 years  ) Just want to post a draft up and see if anyone has some changes I should make. I did try googling but couldn't even find a decent template. Any thoughts on what to say at the end? I got kind of stumped... Wanted to keep it short though, I don't think ten paragraphs about Esky's routine will go down all that well... Dear ____ Hi is Ashleigh, of Ashleigh and Boyd at ADDRESS We are considering adding a second dog to our family and racing team and want to go about it in the right way by seeking permission first. As with our current dog, our new addition will be managed in a way that does not disturb neighbours or cause damage to the house. This will be achieved with training, supervision, excercise and confinement. Due to the nature of our working hours, there will be somebody home to supervise 4-5 days per week, when one of us is unavailable we intend to confine the dog to a small pen until we feel they are behaved enough to have some freedoms. We intend to attend a dog school for teaching manners. We understand that we are responsible for any damaged caused by the pets and that we to get the house flea bombed and the carpet professionally steam cleaned when we vaccate the property. We will also arrange for our pets to be absent from the property during inspections if requested. I am happy to provide some references of people who know us and our pets too.
  23. Aaah my husky So smart in some respects. Still does not get doors.
