  1. UN-BE-LIEVABLE! That's just... no words... I know, Im guessing they had a stack of "females" in together...then realised that one wasnt, I would at least like to believe they wont sell the pregnant ladies to anyone who isnt very experienced with them, although when I was there the sales assistant was trying to convince someone that "you dont actually pay for the kitten, the cost only covers the microchip, vaccination etc etc" Felt like saying "take a look in the paper mate, stacks of free moggies in there"
  2. Talk to some standard owners/breeders but SP's stay "puppies" for a fair length of time. Most standards would be in the 600 (ie jumping 600mm) class and the Kelpies and BCs are often a class below. When all heights compete, the faster working dogs are hard to beat but they dont' win all the time. If you have a back back and neck, also consider lifting a larger pup/dog into the car, the tub and walking a stronger dog on lead. You'd probably do that more often than you'll do obedience training. But on saying that constantly bending down to treat a little dog is quite demanding especially on a bad back, ramps are easily made or bought I dont know how tall a mini stands but I know there is a big difference in the height between the minis and standards
  3. I was at one of "those" petshops yesterday, and they had guinea pigs for sale, the sign read Female guinea pigs - $20ea Pregnant female guinea pigs - $40ea WTF are petshops selling pregnant guinea pigs for?
  4. You forgot these ones.... NO she's not a Labrador. NO she's not a "long haired Golden Retriever" NO she's not a "long haired Labrador" either and NO she's not a Lab x Golden cross. Yes Labs and Goldens are similar in shape and size, and colour to an extent, but surely they're common enough to know the difference?! Ooo, and the best one "My friend has a chocolate golden retriever" (or replace chocolate with black). Uh huh. Oh yes I forgot those...Ill never forget the day just after I got Lexi I had a stupid woman ask me what colour my golden retriever was And the classic fat lab owner saying to their dog "you used to be like that"...no he or she wasnt, I know this is a pup and therefore doesnt have her nice GR feathering yet, but I bet your lab never had a beautiful long wavy coat like hers Just something I learned since joining 'the doggy world' Border Collies dont just come in your typical black and white or red and white, they also come in merle varieties
  5. For my GR No it is not the 'toilet paper puppy' that would be a lab, which means it is not a labrador, nor is it the curly coated variety No it is NOT a labradoodle
  6. I decided not to get the dews removed, she will be ready for me to pick up in an hour or so ;)
  7. Ive never had a problem having two bitches together, provided that you pick a pup which will hopefully have the right temperament to get along with the existing dog you shouldnt have a problem
  8. Can I just point this one out, the only immediate treatment for a burn is cool running water, no sort of burn cream should be used as immediate treatment, Im unsure if toothpaste will help the healing process but I just had visions of someone burning themselves and reaching for the colgate!! cool running water people!!!
  9. I only wish her silly breeders got them removed when she got docked, would have saved a lot of hassle later on I cut Lexis nails yesterday and she was quite good about it, I have a decent set of clippers so they are nice and sharp and they have a cutting guide so you cant make them too short, only problem is she thought it was a game and I nearly snipped her tongue once or twice lol
  10. Good point, so like the nail is the same size but because the dog is smaller it appears larger
  11. I believe they would go under a general regardless...if the dog moves at the wrong time...not something I want to think about or live with
  12. Hmmm, maybe Ill let it go then, I was going to ask them about it when I take her in anyway She doesnt jump up on anyone, I didnt tollerate that from day 1 lol, in fact if she was another JRT I wouldnt even hesitate about getting them done, but she is just so different from Tess (for obvious reasons) Im wondering if hers wont cause an issue. Another reason why I was wanting them done is because Tess is so horrible about getting her nails done (I did all the right things with her, and she used to be fine as a pup, but suddenly one day she wouldnt let us near her feet) I figure its 2 less nails to try and cut, and those nails dont wear down naturally like the rest of them
  13. Ive got my pup booked in to get desexed tomorrow, Ive asked them to remove her dew claws as well (they are only on the front feet). The person I spoke to on the phone was trying to discourage me from having the dews removed but I couldnt understand her very well as she was asian, are there any problems with removing dews on a pup this age? The reason why I want them removed in the first place is because my JRT had heaps of trouble with hers. being such an active breed she would always tear the nail off so last year I opted to have hers removed at age 7, there were no questions asked but this was an old country vet if that makes any difference. I figure while she is already under anesthetic she may as well have them off Lexi will be doing agility when she is big enough and old enough and maybe flyball too, will having her dews removed affect her performance in dog sports?
  14. Ditto, my credit card wishes I never looked at this website lol
  15. In that case, if the allergy was debilitating, then both disabilities would need to be accommodated, usually by the two parties steering clear of each other. If it was a waiter, then a different waiter could wait on the table. If it was a customer, then whoever is second to arrive (allergic customer or person with guide dog or assistance dog) can be moved further away to a different table. If the business was making a genuine effort to accommodate both disabilities, I would hope they wouldn't be accused of discrimination. I know that if I was seated, and was then told that somebody who was already at a table next to me was allergic, I would be happy to move. But if I was already seated and they were second to arrive, I would hope that they would be the ones to move. It's about accommodating everybody. That would be right Ive never heard of someone going into anaphylaxis from a dog but I suppose it could happen. They would only go into anaphylaxis from contact with the dog, so if the blind person and their dog were isolated to one specific area of the cafe and the waiter was given tables on the other side, and the area was appropriately cleaned after they left there should be no problems. My last bosses wife was extremely allergic to latex (to the point of anaphylaxis), for that reason my boss refused to have latex gloves in our lab, but sometimes they would send them anyway because they are cheaper. We knew not to touch her if we had been using latex at all that day, we were careful to scrub up properly if we were going to be seeing her. This is the same sort of situation just a different allergen, if there is no contact with the allergen there is no reaction
  16. Lol, sounds like Infants Friend (baby medicine for wind), thats pink and smells nasty
  17. Im another pusher for a Golden. I recently took my girl home to visit my family and she was perfect around my 3yo niece and my 10 month old niece and nephew. I was so comfortable leaving her with them that I didnt watch her the whole time and my nephew decided to grab hold of her whiskers and try to stand up! Lexi was such a good girl and just sat there and let him do it, needless to say we grabbed him as soon as we saw him but it was good to know that even as a puppy she knew that these 'little people' need special treatment
  18. Ive got the dog dig crate, i like this one because its easy to set up, and it folds down like an umbrella instead of flat like most do http://www.petsunleashed.com.au/Product/soft-pet-crate
  19. Where is fairfield in relation to pine rivers? I might give the other club a go, im not ready to take her yet. The other owner has a 'little white fluffy' so she could be over reacting to the aggressiveness
  20. Yeah I like the look of those tug toys, let me know when you are ordering although Im wondering if those furry ones could stand up to some heavy duty tugging? my the means of a JRT lol
  21. If they need to be 'quarantined' then why are they on public display, thats horrific
  22. Lol Jenni...so this is what Ive got to look forward to with Lexi? lucky they are so beautiful huh?
  23. Because they think they are "rescuing" it
