  6. Aww they are gorgeous, love the one of Eski, what a sweet face Welcome
  7. I live in the middle of nowhere but Stuartfield is probably the closest village to us The beach is actually Scotstown nr St Fergus, usually totally empty even in the height of summer LOL, I'd get done for trying to smuggle dangerous good in I think, especially with Butteries
  8. Hi and small world I live Aberdeenshire too, north of Ellon I'm not a native though, just lived here for 4 years Yup the dogs are gonna miss this - our 'local' beach, always deserted  They're going to have to get used to sharing beaches and forests now
  9. Ah thank you Can anyone give me any food brand names that I can look into that maybe similar to the NatureDiet? If possible I'd like to get some ordered while here and delivered direct to Byford so they have some decent food from the word go.
  10. Many thanks for all your replies :D DA Thank you, I'll watch out for you too ;) Many thanks :D and I know - 2 days a week will be a nightmare Brilliant, thank you Thank you Unfortunately we had to re-home 2 other dogs and 2 cats before coming over, it's been heartbreaking but they are all settled in very good homes and are happy and probably not giving us a second thought Thanks :D I noticed some signs for dog beaches when we were exploring in Jan......I also noticed the 'beware of snakes in dunes' signs Thank-you :D I'm a bit concerned about the temperature, especially as Louis is hairless. I have already sent some pj's for him so they will have something to put on him when he arrives. He's not allowed to fly with clothes on so will arrive nekkid We visited Byford in Jan and they said they were happy to feed whatever food I provided, even frozen raw - but no bones Sounds good, cheers :D We drove past Lake Monger in Jan and it did look lovely, glad to hear the dogs could join us on a walk there
  11. Wow some lovely shots - love the frog Here's one I took the other night, just with my Lumix
  12. He looks like a happy, healthy boy - hope he is back home soon. Well done for helping him
  13. A pheasant flew out of our garden and dropped a feather - I think Daisy was freaked out by the 'freshness' of it Then she got brave and 'killed' it
  14. Hello My partner and I, the dogs and the cat, are all moving over to Perth from the UK in 6 weeks time! Where we live at the moment (rural NE Scotland) it is very open and we can take the dogs anywhere, so are used to empty beaches and parks with no restrictions. On a reccie trip to Perth back in January I realized dog ownership in Oz will be a bit more restrictive, so can anyone point me in the right direction of 'dog friendly' places to go? We will initially be staying in the Mount Lawley area, so would be grateful for info on places we take the dogs round there. Also 'dog parks' don't really exisit in the UK......are they to be avoided or do they provide some of the only off-lead areas to take your dogs? I will also be in need of a groomer, doesn't have to be in the Mount Lawley area, but must be patient and understanding with the dogs (both are rescues with very poorly socialised starts to life, I'm working on that but they have their 'issues') Their current groomer hasn't had any real problems with them, but she is firm and won't take any nonsense from them. They are currently fed a mix of raw and a 'wet' food called NatureDiet http://www.naturediet.co.uk/ While they are in quarrentine I would like them to be fed something close to NatureDiet. Can you point me in the direction of similar products in Oz? I was very please to see raw pet food in most supermarkets, in the UK it can be tricky to source raw food. Also vet reccomendations would be good. They will be in quarantine for 30 days - it will be the first time in my life I'm gonna be pet free.....it's going to be very strange. Byford is apparently dropping its visiting days down to 2 a week from 3 which is a pain, I'll miss my little buddies while they're in there Also I know she's not a dog but if anyone can recommend cat food similar to Orijen i.e high meat content, low grain http://www.orijen.ca/orijen/products/catki...ngredients.aspx that would be great. Unlike the dogs my siamese is very fussy when it comes to food I'm very much looking forward to moving over, just wish we could fast forward 7 weeks and just be there already Any other advice on dog ownership in Oz will be gratefully recived Many thanks in advanced for any info Tanya
  15. Sorry no, currently living in the UK but moving to Perth in a couple of months I guess I should add that to my signature
  16. PMSL at this thread and I have no idea who this bloke is! but sounds like Burke by name, Burke by nature
  17. Same here now I like snakes and had pet ones as a kid, but I think I have a whole new world of reptile learning to do once I move over from the uk in a couple of months.....I'm just staying clear of everything to start with :D
  18. I've had some collars made from this company and they do collars with a d-ring on the widest part, so you've been right about something http://www.hollyandlil.co.uk/cowhide--leat...om-44-526-p.asp They made me a gorgeous greyhound style one for my greyhound girl I also got a couple of Italian greyhound ones made for my cresties as I liked the idea of the soft, wide and supportive leather round their necks as well....
  19. Yes they are both the same breed, despite one having hair and one being hairless. And you can get both powderpuffs and hairless in the same litter ;)
  20. Great photo's and looks like you had a fab meet....I hope to find some good places like this to take mine too once I move over to Perth
  21. They spend 99% of their time using you as a stretching post
  22. When I had 3 cats I had the occasional issue with spraying! I tried Urine Off for a while, but while it stopped the smell to my nose, it didn't seem to deter the odd spray in a particular spot. I tried Urine Oust, which I believe is now called Urine Free, and it made a marked difference to spraying - it pretty much stopped all together http://shop.urinefree.com.au/
