What does your vet day?
-
Surgery is better done sooner than later, the poor wee thing will already have arthritis from them popping in and out. Use a specialist surgeon for best surgery and outcomes.
-
Certainly can show at an early age, and is not rare in. Bulldogs, especially so called 'Aussie ' Bulldogs. I would ask for X-rays, by an experienced vet
-
Has surgery been discussed? Ultimately removal of the insulanoma gives the best result. BG still needs to be kept up but easier to control.
-
Glad she has the plaster off. I have never heard of a Patella surgery requiring plaster? Could you post some details after you see him tomorrow of his 'special' technique? Maybe her post op X-rays?

I have my money on 3!!!!❤️❤️

I have actually heard of a bitch that needed mismate (abortion ) injections because he 'hot' to her. Can't verify its true but from a friend who works in the local Vet there. Edited for phones spellcheck!!

My Darling Girl Has Congenital Heart Failure
Xyz replied to Pollywaffle's topic in Palliative Care Forum
it is true, vets are not allowed to prescribe medications without physically examining an animal regularly. It would also be irresponsible of them to go on prescribing it without looking and listening to the pet. They may need to repeat her echocardiogram to assess if she needs additional medications if things are deteriorating. Heart medications can certainly prolong the life of cardiac cases, but they need to be carefully monitored and adjusted as required. -
...that must have been one of these turbo-studs designer breeds  ...I guess a lot of breeders would be interested in this trait :D ... Willem I'm guessing you haven't had much to do with many experienced studs ...

Actually you could very well have male dogs queuing in front of your house. Especially if you are irresponsible like some and walk her from home (leaving a scent trail)

Second the Kaunda beds, I have them inside and outside and are about 6 years old and as good as new. Well worth the $$
-
Have you seen an oncologist? What grade is the MCT? Even if the leg is amputated she will walk the next day, play ball in a week!! I personally wouldn't do chemo with a dog that hates the vet, but depending on the grade removal of the tumour can be curative.

Help! 10 Week Sheltie Puppy With Episodic Ataxia

Liver shunt?. Diagnosed by blood work (specific) followed by a CT, then surgery or medica management. -
Really just tough love required. I'd go with kibble as you don't have to freshly prepare it while he may knock it back. Put his bowl down in the morning, don't make a fuss, just place it in his normal place. What is left after 10 minutes pick up and put away. NO food/treats from you, only fresh water available. 12 hours later repeat. 12 hours later repeat. 12 hours later repeat. Healthy dogs WILL NOT starve themselves. Come back on here later in the week and let us know! Good on you for noticing and doing something about it now!

As FHRP says not uncommon, though shouldn't cause pain in particular, more problems toiling. I'd certainly be concerned if he is in obvious pain.

where are you wildatheart? I have some weed matting you are welcome to if in NSW?

There are different treatments available. Speak to a specialist vet to f you want to go down that track.
-
Aspergillosis can be treated, often first time is curative. Fingers crossed its that!
-
Labrador. Delay desexing and will only really shed twice a year
-
You could make a sling out of a recycling shopping bag, even one for front and one for back. Lots of Physio/massage and passive range of motion exercise. Has the vet not recommended seeing a Physio? Mabye there are none in your area.. Good luck and good on you for giving him a go.!

My premiums have only gone up a few dollars per month, for the last 2 years. (Despite claims). I still prefer petplan for their covered for life policy. Though I've been told pia now offer that too?
-
I commented in your other post, but just to add Cushings is not a death sentence, it is easily treated and most dogs live a long and normal life with just daily medications and blood testing as required, often only 3-6 monthly once they have been stabilised. My 16 year old has been on 'trilostane' for about 6-7 years now, and I know of many others who have been successfully treated fairly for many many years. I would get your vet to stabilise her and take up the wonderful offer of visiting a specialist in Sydney. Good luck
