Such a gorgeous photo! Kuma looks like he really loves his papa

Aww, I hate every other dog licking me except Kyojin. He gives such lovely kisses
-
Nawwwww, that is a very cute face!!

Ahh thanks for reminding me of this one, Mim. This is who I used last time and they were fantastic - great price, FREE postage, and it was delivered maybe two or three days after I ordered.

I voted GSD, mostly because I think they are awesome

I really don't like my in-laws GR. I was incredibly glad that when OH and I bought this place that they didn't try and give her to us. She's well behaved, but for some reason I just can't stand her. She's not my type of dog for starters (personality wise) but there isn't really a good reason for it. She has been aggressive toward Kyojin over food/water, but I didn't like her before this. I think also the fact that she always smells and sheds a lot probably doesn't help her case either :)

You are so lucky! Mine are poo machines!!! They poop at least twice a day. We have to do poo picks twice a day as a result. I'd feed them less but they're actually very lean as it is! Kyojin poops the second he finishes eating
-
As long as Kyojin's veges are in small pieces, he'll eat anything. He even LOVES medicine!!! He thinks it's a treat, so we act super excited and happy when giving it to him
-
We have trouble giving Kyojin enough!! Little bugger is always hungry. First week we got him, he liked his veges. Then he decided he hated them. Now we give him those frozen veges, the little diced peas/corn/carrots and he eats them fine. We figured we could cheat by giving him veges small enough that he couldn't pick out I'm not entirely certain how good it is for him, but we've started adding a slice of those dog meat rolls you can get from the supermarkets, just to give him a bit of meat/flavour to his food to keep him happy.

KA: Glad Kuma seems alright now. Does he not normally eat well??

At the moment, the biggest danger to me is myself The sun was out today so I figured it was a great opportunity to do recall exercises with Kyojin in the backyard. As we were coming back out of the gate to go inside, Kyojin wanted to walk forward whereas I had to pause to close the gate, and as I had him on lead (I don't trust him off lead at the front of our house anymore since his previous episode) he made me trip over the huge chunk of rough concrete we've been using to block the gap under the gate from all the flooding. So I cut my foot open and have just gotten back from the hospital after getting stitches and a tetanus shot. Just before OH's parents came to take me I thought I'd cook some pan bread to eat so I'd have something in my stomach. Turned it on to oven instead of grill, so my pan bread wasn't remotely cooked, and I nearly forgot to turn oven off before leaving the house. Probably not a good idea to try and burn the house down. Then just as I got home I decide to cook my bread again. Charcoaled the bread and nearly overflowed the sink while washing dishes. Feeling realllllll bright right about now

I always thought dogs should only be outside, that it was dirty for them to be inside. But after getting Kyojin, well, he's almost always inside He's very clean though, Akitas clean themselves like a cat. And they don't shed like a lot of other breeds. We also vacuum the house AT LEAST every second day. We wipe his paws etc as well and would never let him in if he was actually dirty. He prefers to be inside with us, and I really love his company. I could never imagine having him outside now while we're at home. Plus, with the rain for over a month and now actual flooding, he has to be inside at our place. I'm a bit fussy with some dogs being inside still. I can't stand OH's parents dog being inside at our place.

Good idea, Sway. I was thinking yesterday that just saying that we're fine now, doesn't necessarily mean fine tomorrow or the next day etc.

Easy peasy! Granted, he hasn't had his first coat blow, but I know what I'm in for for that, so I am prepared. I give him a brush every few days to a week - though really this is only because I really enjoy doing it, more than because he needs it. I just use a retractable slicker brush and that does the job. He doesn't get knots or anything, so it's just a case of brushing out any dead hair. When he will blow coat (once or twice a year) this will last a few weeks. I have bought myself a force dryer to help with this - helps get the dead hair off much quicker and easier.

Numerous reasons why I like the dogs that I do. I can't stand barking, so a "yappy" dog would never fit in at my house. I don't like dogs that jump up either, or are too excitable. I like dogs that are chilled back, mature, reserved. Dogs that are strong and muscly, and independent. I like a dog that likes to be around me, but doesn't require me to actively keep it occupied constantly. These are some of the reasons why Kyojin makes a wonderful companion. He's big and cuddly - he's a great height for squishy cuddles without too much strain on my part Akitas aren't barking dogs, nor are they jumpy and overly excitable. Kyojin's happiest when he's around us, but that usually just means having a snooze nearby where he can keep an eye on the action. He doesn't require an excessive amount of exercise. He's been extremely calm from day one - never really acted like a puppy to be honest.

Yea I think that's probably what will happen with me

Would love to help, but I can't really be sure just yet that we're safe.

In Acacia Ridge (Brisbane Southside). We are okay at the moment.

I know, I was like OMG I could have shoes with Akitas on them!!!!

Bugger, I have that weekend off but OH's working

I have a fan set up in front of Kyojin's crate at night. We figured out that he was too hot lying on his bed at night, so we have removed it. (He likes lying on hard surfaces better anyway).

Thanx heaps so do you suggest to leave her in my bedroom at night? and when she winges take her out? Yes, leave her in your bedroom so that you can hear when she needs to go out. If she's crying, take her out and see if it's because she wants to go to the toilet. Wait a few minutes until she has gone, if she doesn't go after awhile, put her back to bed and try again when she cries next time. She'd really be missing her litter mates at the moment. You could try giving her one of those toys that make a heartbeat sound to reassure her and help her sleep.

Wow, they had Akitas! Very cute Akitas in fact
