  1. Yes, please provide more details. Have any of the dog been desexed, vaccinated etc., The ages of the dogs and what breed they are?
  2. Blackburn Veterinary Centre takes care of my dogs too. I've been going there for 15+ years. I see Andrew who's happy to go with 3 yearly vaccinations. I haven't vaccinated my 6yo dog since he had a reaction to his 16 month C5 booster. My nearly 5yo's last vacc was the 16 month booster and my oldie (approx. 13yo) was vaccinated before she came to me 4 years ago and not since. Andrew knows my thoughts on over vaccinating and puts no pressure on me. We'll discuss titres again when I see him soon for a check up for all 3 dogs. He knows I don't hesitate to take them in if I think something isn't quite right. He's a good vet and a good surgeon. He's taken great care of my dogs over the years and done a number of surgeries on them. I like that he actually listens to what I say instead of talking at me. If we have a health crisis it always happens on a Sunday when Blackburn vet is closed. My Cavalier ruptured a disk on a Sunday and I discovered he ate Ratsak that blew in from next door during a storm on a Sunday, which meant I had to take them to the local vets. They know what they're doing but they're not much interested in talking with owners. They seem to think dog owners are dills who know little to nothing about dogs. We are in hot disagreement regarding vaccinations.
  3. My heart breaks for you Jed. You are in my thoughts and prayers every day Rest In Peace Magnus ;)
  4. I'm so sorry for your loss of Sally. You gave her a beautiful quality of life. Godspeed Sally
  5. Thank you. I'll give it a try.
  6. I'm having the same problem Helen. What did you right click on.
  7. Erny I got a 404 message too. Clicked on the home page and then on the right under 'quick links' you will see 'find a bill'. That will take you to the bill.
  8. I'll get busy writing again. I received three replies. Ted Baillieu replied promptly. The Libs seem more inclined to acknowledge and reply. C'mon Victorians, start writing. If this goes through it will affect all dog owners in Victoria. What's to say other states will not follow suit if this was to go through. Good work keeping us on the ball Erny.
  9. The OP is not a newbie, she's been a member of this forum for over 4 years. Plenty of time to read and learn. The OP said the litter will be registered. How so? They can't be registered because she's not a registered breeder.
  10. Welcome back special lady, we've missed you and cried for you and with you. Candles are alight for you and your beloved dogs.
  11. A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the amazing Ollie.

I'm so sorry for your loss Peibe. Fly free Yoshi
  13. I'm so sorry for your loss. Did the vet suggest SAS could have been the cause. Rotts can suffer with Sub Aortic Stenosis but we don't hear of it very often.
  14. I use Sentinel Spectrum. It prevents heartworm and all worms including tapeworm and is a flea contraceptive. None of my dogs have ever had fleas or worms.
  15. Yep, they're trap smart. I haven't had any in this house for 10 years!!! Very alert dogs here. In my old house I set traps and they were taking the bait without setting off the traps. We used a small piece of salami and tied it onto the trap with cotton. That did the trick, we caught the whole family of about 7 mice.
  16. Ermmm...yes. See my previous post. That's why I went with Pets Cremation Service.
  17. It depends on the weight of the dog. My Rottweiler gets 1 x 5000mg tablet with both her morning and evening meal. She weighs around 42kg. If she was prone to UTI's, which she isn't (she's never had one) I'd add in another 5000mg tablet. My Cavaliers are around 10Kg. One a little under and one a little over. They get 1 x 5000mg tablet with their evening meal. Neither of them have ever had a UTI. I give them cranberry as a preventative.
  18. Artemis Maximal is also a grain free food and it's been available in Australia for quite some time now. It does have a very high protein content but then so does the Canidae fish variety.
  19. Kirst Goldens, you need to choose the box or urn you want the ashes returned in and pay for it. A nice box to contain the ashes is not cheap. If nothing is chosen and paid for I guess they take the cheapest option, but posting it back was not very respectful. Maybe they were a small company. I chose a rosewood box with a gold name plate with her named engraved on it and it's beautiful. It was delivered back by the cremation company. I did make enquiries with two other companies when I knew Sophie's time was near and they were dreadful. One of them didn't bother to reply at all and the other one told me when Sophie had been put to sleep I had to leave payment in an envelope at the vet's reception and they would only accept cash. They said it had to be paid for in cash before they would collect my dog for cremation. Needless to say they didn't hear from me again.
  20. I understand your frustration Ellz but not all buyers are idiots. Some of us take very good care of our dogs and provide them with plenty of love, training, exercise and a good life. The breeders of my dogs seem pleased with my care of the pups they sold me. They're happy to take my recommendation of any puppy buyer I refer to them. I'm darn careful about the people I refer though. I wouldn't refer anyone to a breeder if I didn't know them well enough to know they would take good care of the puppy. If I refer a buyer to a breeder I feel partly responsible for the pup they bring home. I think you're speaking out of sheer frustration because I couldn't imagine you would rather euthanise your perfectly healthy puppies and deny them a chance at life. You're an experienced breeder and can pick the wheat from the chaff with your puppy buyers. Your gut instinct would be well honed.
  21. I had Pets Cremation Service cremate my dog. Ph: 0418 522 282. They phone to tell me what time she would be cremated so I could think of her at that time. After the cremation they phoned to tell me they had the titanium implants from Sophie's knee surgery and asked if I wanted them returned with her ashes. They didn't know about the titanium implants beforehand. They have a website but I don't have the addy, google will bring it up for you.
  22. Frequent small volume peeing is usually the first sign of a UTI. Also in house trained dogs you may find a small puddle or two inside the house. Straining to urinate is a sure sign of a UTI and antibiotics are needed. UTI's are painful. If a dog is urinating small amounts frequently, best to collect a specimen in a clean container to the vet for urinalysis. I pour boiling water into the container and the lid, empty them without touching the inside of the lid or the container and then air dry them. That way you have a relatively sterile container to collect the urine specimen. It's also best to take a freshly collected specimen to the vet.
  23. Oh I'd forgotten about my sig. LOL. I have signatures turned off so I don't see anyone else's sig or my own. I don't think my sig is true though because there's plenty of the slow and stupid who are absolutely thriving. Please keep us posted on this little oldie.
  24. See! I'm learning all the time on here. Thanks for the info Ellz.
