  1. Bumping it to say I am writing right now. It won't hurt to send off hard copies as well as emails.
  2. I use 4 x 2's for the Rottweilers and 2 x 2's for the Cavaliers. They all love them.
  3. Thinking of you Jed and sending peaceful healing thoughts.
  4. Thinking of you and Molly and sending healing vibes.
  5. There you go ^ is where it says the family doesn't know if the dog was attacked in their yard or elsewhere. It seems unlikely someone would be wandering around a private fenced backyard in broad daylight with a knife and was able to cut a dog's throat but no one saw or heard a thing. The perp would be taking a huge risk of being heard and seen by the occupants of the house as well as the neighbours. It seems more likely that the dog was not in its own backyard. If my dog was badly injured I'd be taking him outside to toilet and staying with him to make sure he didn't hurt himself. He wouldn't be wandering around in the yard on his own in that condition. I guess we'll never know the true story. efs
  6. Sending healing thoughts and prayers for you Jed. White candle is burning for you.
  7. I can't believe they would allow him outside on his own when he'd been so badly injured a day earlier. Surely he should have been inside being cared for properly at least until he recovered. Not left outside unsupervised only to suffer another injury. The family doesn't know whether he was attacked in their yard or elsewhere How could he have been injured elsewhere if he was safely confined at home? I'm not confused. The puppy was outside when he was injured on both occasions. Surely after the first injury it would indicate the pup wasn't safe outside alone. That the family doesn't know the pup's whereabouts when he was injured doesn't ring any alarm bells? This sounds as though this puppy is not confined to the owners property? Roaming dogs often get hurt. They get hit by cars, they get lost and they're at the mercy of sadistic dog hating lunatics.
  8. Yes, I agree, that's an excellent suggestion.. Jazzie could start a thread and ask Troy to move the posts regarding her tragic situation into her thread. Jazzie too needs our support and of course we want to send our thoughts, prayers and well wishes to her but I think this thread should remain about Jed. When Jed is well enough she may read this thread and see just how loved and respected she is and how important she is to us. I hope it will aid in her recovery to know that we hold her in such high regard, that we are thinking of her, praying for her and awaiting updates about her, hoping for news of improvement in her condition. Jed has a very hard road ahead of her to be ever able to cope with her loss. Maybe our posts might be of some help in her emotional healing. It becomes too complicated if there are two separate issues in this thread. Danois I agree that would be the most respectful way of handling the situation.
  9. I too was thinking this :p I'm guessing Jed's reaction would be thoughtful, complimentary and kind. It's not the fault of the little oodles that they're being overbred by the wrong people for all the wrong reasons. Thanks to those who are keeping us updated on Jed's condition. Greatly appreciated.
  10. I think she went way beyond that. She sure did go well and truly beyond that. She put the welfare of her beloved dogs before herself.
  11. Thanks for posting this Julie. Thanks to the RSPCA for a job very well done. It seems they took very good care of the animals and cooperated fully with those who are now caring for the dogs.
  12. How heartbreaking that Magnus has gone too. We had a glimmer of hope that he would be found alive. Oh my God, how will Jed ever come to terms with this tragedy. She's a very strong and courageous woman but this is almost too much for any human to bear. Thank God for her friends and family and all those wonderful people who are going above and beyond to help in the midst of this devastation. MDBA Pacers and especially Julie. You are angels on earth. Thanks also to those who are keeping us updated. Rest in peace to Jed's beloved ones who are no longer here
  13. Sue the news of your loss of Ash is devastating. I am so very sorry. He was a special boy who will be sadly missed. Your beautiful daughter Sophie is there to greet you, Ash. Godspeed Ash
  14. What a terrible tragedy to happen to this wonderful woman. My thoughts and prayers are with Jed. A candle will be lit for her and her beloved dogs who have passed on at 9pm tonight. When I got my first Cavalier puppy 6 years ago, Jed was my mentor and my friend. We exchanged many midnight emails when I was in a panic over something my puppy was doing or something I wasn't going about the right way. Her usual advice was for me to stop worrying, get down on the floor and play with my puppy and enjoy him because he'd be a puppy for such a short time. Having never had the responsibility of such a tiny little thing I was terrified. Jed was a tower of strength and a wealth of good down to earth advice. I'm stricken by the news of this tragedy and not at all surprised that Jed would go back inside her burning house to try to rescue her beloved dogs. That's just how she is. Bless her. Julie you are doing a magnificent job under what must be extremely difficult circumstances and shock at what has happened to your friend. If there is anything at all I can do to help in any way, just say the word. Magnus come home now boy, your mum will need to know you're ok.
  15. What a beautiful rescue story. Logan sounds to be a lovey boy and what a looker!! Well done K9A.
  16. With a dog that size I wouldn't go for the DeAngelis traditional method. Too many of them seem to break down. I would think that TTA or TPLO would be the best. I had Wing Tip Wong, an ortho surgeon do TPLO on my Rottweiler but the price would be more than $2000, it was over $3000 just for the surgery and not taking into account the multiple xrays needed. All up each knee came to well over $4000. That was 8 years ago so I expect it would be even more expensive now.
  17. Glad the Paw Paw ointment worked. It's amazing stuff, I use it for quite a few things and have never found the dogs to be interested in licking it off. I massage it into any hard or cracked paws and it works a treat every time and it works fast. Your boy is beautiful
  18. Sending healing vibes to Fern. Please let us know how is she tomorrow. How lucky you were that these very nice girls found her and went from house to house trying to find her owner. They have good karma due.
  19. Why not stop her from humping by distracting her and removing her from the other dog? No humping is allowed in this house. They're not allowed to hump eachother or anything else. Humping is bad dog manners and if they try it on with a dominant dog, if they go to an off leash park you will have a dog fight on your hands.
  20. $170 is reasonable. The $300-350 quoted by the vet here for each dog is a bit over the top, considering we had a consult just 2 weeks ago so don't really need another one. Does anyone know a vet in the SE 'burbs of Melbourne who does titres at a reasonable price?
  21. If there is anything in vet records, even if a vet only suspects that the hips could be a problem, it's considered by the insurance company to be a pre-existing condition and they won't cover it. After waiting 3 months for reimbursement for my dog's laminectomy surgery, I've now had fairly minor claim for ($500) in for a month. I pay the first $250 so it's not a huge reimbursement. There's been no contact from the insurance company that they've received the claim. I guess we go into battle again when I phone them next week. Send claims to insurance companies by registered mail. They told me last time they hadn't received my claim. They found it in seconds when I told them I had a signed receipt.
  22. We can offer the two for $85 - thats to come in, pull blood, transport etc. If you wanted a consult with it, would work out about $110 That's a good price. I had one of my Cavs to the vet a couple of weeks ago and had blood test done for a baseline to have on record. While I was there I asked about titre testing and was told the senior vet would phone me with the info...which he did. He said I would pay for another consult fee plus the extra for taking bloods and all up it would cost me $300+ per dog ;) He said it would be sent to WA for titre testing. He then pushed vaccinating the dogs, which isn't going to happen.
  23. I can vouch for them. They are all very experienced professional trainers. My Rottweiler was trained by the head trainer of this group. The training was positive and gentle and we learned quickly. I highly recommend Eastern Companion Dog Training.
  24. Put the tablet in some Philly cheese. Give some Philly without the tablet so the dog thinks it's a treat and will happily take the next one with the tablet in it.
