  1. Maeby Funke, I got the beans out of my Barka Parka yesterday with OH's help. Put the B.Parka half way in an opened garbage bag & opened the B.Parka up till all the beans fell out into the garbage bag. Didn't spill any, which was great. Filled it with pillow's. Put it out last night but Stella wasn't keen to lay on it. See how she goes tonight
  2. BCNut, my girl was only 7.5 kg at almost 14 week's & was pretty lean. But she never stopped & she still hasn't  She has been spayed & now at 2.5 years of age weighs 19kg & she currently is on a diet as she needs to be 18kg. So I wouldn't worry if she doesn't want her lunch as Stella didn't either, too busy.. I would definitely follow Dancinbc's advice, she's a wealth of info on anything BC's :D Make breakfast & dinner bigger & add a tasty non weight bearing bones/f lamb flaps. Chic neck/wings. A little grated cheese. A small amount of diced raw chic/beef/lamb. Just a few ideas :) Otherwise if you really want to continue the lunch time meal, just give any one of the above suggestions on their own at her usual lunch time.
  3. Mine are crated at night till toilet trained & for their own safety. They have the run of our safe backyard in the day time. Grates have pad locks.I too worry about them being stolen. They are groomed & brought inside every afternoon around 4ish, they are under supervision till bed time. In bad weather they are indoors with me, again supervised in case they chew something or hurt themselves & while toilet training. I have never had to section off no go zones when they are inside as they just seem happy to follow me around & be with me.
  4. Yes, totally agree with the 'taking on of details'. Sonny isn't a fan of men with big beards/hats/umbrella's. Stella's hates if strangers don't verbally engage her & approach quickly. She will definitely growl. She is much more reactive to people approaching us when we are walking of a night. She is very ferocious then to most oncoming things in the dark. Both my guys notice pretty much everything. Stella had a fit the other day. We walk past this house on a daily basis but they had put a small Buddha statue in their front yard. She went off her nut at it, growling & carrying on for a good 5 mins. I stood still & silent. The owners had came out to see what all the commotion was about & said they had just put the statue there that morning. When Stella had got herself together, she approached it very warily, smelt it & then was happy to continue. Got to watch out for those statue's you know, scary stuff
  5. Yes... Both my guys are people love most people. But their is a couple my boy is wary of but he just keeps his distance, no growls but I can tell by body lanuage he isn't comfortable. My girl reacts vocally, growling, barking. She keeps her distance as well. Both act rather aloof toward them. One they both dislike is one of OH's work mates. He happens to have a fairly dodgey past. I think they are an excellent judge of character & I never push the point with them, make them approach or be patted. I let them decide what they are comfortable with, they do as far as outsiders are concerned. If my guys reacted to me this way OP asked?? I don't know what I would do. If they growled, I rouse sternly at them straight away but other than that if they took it further. No idea's there.
  6. Oh no ness, I just posted how happy I was for you both after viewing that video clip & seeing how well Kenz was going..... Just too cruel... Get a little taste of a back to active/normal life & it's back to that darn crate rest/meds AGAIN... Ever so sorry for you both & I can't imagine how hard it must be for you both emotionally & financially. Thoughts are with you both at this once again very tough time
  7. My girl doesn't like the noise of the beans either. I might give the pillow thing a try. I never thought of filling it with something else. May as well, never know she may even like it LOL
  8. Wonderful news!! Enjoy your little celebration :)
  9. Ogenie I couldn't remember if it was Akuna that you boarded your guys at. Sounds very suitable for us :)
  10. Sonny has a $40 human leather look bean bag which he just adores. He is a bit if a bed hopper though as he also had a Dog Gone Smart dognut bed which he also loves & goes from one to the other till bed time when he is crated. Stella has 3 beds to choose from but the polished floor boards are her fav bed... Go figure... :)
  11. Very horrifying dogmad & so sad
  12. Corvus, thanks so much for offering your experienced hand to mind Stella. Such a kind thought. But I would be very reluctant to separate Stella from Sonny for any length of time. Imo it would just add to her anxiety levels being on her own in unfamilar surroundings. In all honesty I would love someone with your experience to handle/review her as both Stella & I would really benefit from it on so many levels. Appreciate your very kindness :) Mita , thanks for inquiring at your work for me. It was certainly worth a try.
  13. I use it every 2 weeks all year round on my 2 guys, just not worth the risk, is it? Imho.
  14. Thought there would still be plenty about cause it has been so warm for this time of year still. I hate them with a passion, they can cause such havic for such a tiny thing. Hope you are ok kelpie cuddles.
  15. Dear old fella ... So sad for such an oldie. Doesn't look neglected from what I can see. Beautiful old man
  16. So cool... Going to a rescue dog's & their savours. Very happy with a very kind gesture to the needy. Doesn't get better than that :)
  17. Seems like Connie is the groomer that mum was currently using. Sorry mum & I got our wires crossed. Mum is getting old poor love. Apparently she has been unable to contact her for some time now. Maybe on hols?? But mum is under the impression she has moved ? Hope not cause mum just loves her.
  18. Hi dancin, danbeth sounds wonderful as I would really love someone breed savvy to take care of them. They bred Stella's grandmother actually. I suppose I could ask their breeders for some recommendations/ideas. Just don't like to bother them but just this once as it is quite important.
  19. I hadn't thought of that. I would need someone really experienced as my girl is very reactive & can be DA at times. She is my main worry. My boy is problem free. Just a lovely boy.
  20. Oh thanks for your trouble mita. That is a great idea. You brought tears to my eye's. Appreciate your kindness :) I hope I can take my mobby into hospital so I will be able to still keep contact.
  21. I went to Erina high school sm :) & thanks for your trouble.
  22. Thanks for your kind thoughts Mita. Truth be known I am scared to death of the whole idea but even more worried about my 2 kids. They are my world. I wish I lived in Qld, sounds ideal with Vet on staff & everything. I was thinking I may only need to board them for 2 weeks, maybe, hopefully. I was going to hire a tread mill for home as I won't be able to walk them. OH won't be able to either as he has a torn Archilles ATM & can't walk very well. It is kaos here. Everything is happening at once.
  23. Hi Everyone, Sorry is this topic has been done to death!!! But.... I have to go into hospital at the end of the month for 4 days & will be unable to do anything for 6 week's after I will need to board my 2 Border Collies which is terrifying me as I have never been away from then for more than a few hours & with all the horror stories you here about some of these places..... So was wondering if there are any wonderful places that fellow dolers would recommend. No 1 priority for me would be that they must be experienced.. Some of my other requirements would be that they are kept together & not housed or mixing with any other dogs. They must be safely exercised daily. My girl has daily meds & is a very anxious dog so I am very worried about how she will adapt. She will need extra care IMHO. Am looking at anywhere from Central Coast to just North of Newcastle. Or inland area's Maitland, Cesnock. I would rather travel if that means piece of mind. Terrigal Pet Resort looks really good. Interested in opinions/experiences
