I am very proud of my 2 no more than atm. Their dad is looking after them as I am unwell, hopefully be coming home tomorrow. I am missing them like crazy. They have been on their very best behaviour, even when dad got the treadmill directions wrong & instead of having it going on 3 speed, he had it going on 6. He said Sonny kept coming of the back of it.LOL Stella just went for life to keep up with it... god knows I couldn't even keep up with that. Anyway they only had a 7 min work out as they were puffing, giggle... any wonder ! poor pouches... No wonder they are missing their mum. lol..

Third vote here.... Totally agree with all advice given thus far. I am no expert either. Take NO chances with him & don't allow him off lead. A DA dog can be extemely unpredictable to an inexperienced eye. Get professional help. Good luck.

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
BC Crazy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I'm another lover of this thread Wobbly. I have learnt so much from others. Also love the devotion we have to making our reactive guys the best they can be & help them to have a calmer, more enjoyable life As Stella is maturing I see her making huge improvements in temp from not so long ago. She is much more confident & social. We still have a ways to go yet but positive progress is wonderful. I have given her 100% of me, everything I have & it's paying off. She is a LOT of dog. It makes me feel all warm hearted & emotional at times. Very proud :) Example, yesterday we were out walking & 2 cats ran straight at us, chasing each other. Within 10 feet or so of us. One went down the drain by the side of the road, the other stood it's ground & was hissing etc at us. Stella just looked at them but didn't react at all so we walked around them at a distance & kept walking. I was wrapped. Corvus, I'm liking the look of that Give me a break. Am going to bookmark it to read when I get a moment. It may also suit us. Thanks for sharing :) -
What a wonderful tribute to lovely Buddy cazstaff... We know through very unfortunately nothing will bring him back but he is indirectly raising peoples awareness & groomer's safety standards. Even if it saves one beautiful dog from suffering the same horrific end that your boy did then it is a big positive change. I was only thinking of Buddy & yourself the other day. Hoping for some positive news & this is it !! Hugs & total admiration for your sheer guts through such heartbreak.....

Risks Of Leaving Dog Coat On All Day?
BC Crazy replied to MadWoofter's topic in General Dog Discussion
I personnally would never leave a dog unattended with a coat on. As kirslin said, mine do the same. They manage to get their front leg through the neck at times. Just not worth the risk imo :) -

PME, glad we made you laugh  Honestly Stella is just the funniest girl. She has got loads of personality. But to pop herself on the tread mill, right way around, ready to go was a real crack up. She was looking up at the monitor screen. I think she thinks the cabanossi & chic roll baits come out of there  I brought a human tread mill making sure that it had the extra long running belt. Also one with the quietest motor I could find so as not to freak her out as she is so noise sensitive. Works for us. It has given me peace of mind that at least I won't have to worry about as much about them getting some exercise while I am recovering. My 2 are used to lots of it like 2 to 3 hours walk/play daily. I know it isn't going to be the same for them but it will be an outlet. OH will also walk them when he gets home from work as well. Wobbley, it will be great with Winter almost upon us. On those really bleak days I won't have to go out if I really don't feel like it. Tassie, thanks, yes I am thrilled that they both like it. And hospitals & having to rest for so long, not looking forward to it at all. I am going to be so bored. Oh the joys of getting old. My wheels are falling off  -
That is heartbreaking to witness ness Such a smart. beautiful girl. And that was a fairly mild episode. Tragic.... I can only imagine how upsetting all this is for you & Kenzie for that matter. It has really upset me & I'm just a concerned dog lover, not her owner.

Hi guys, I would just like a quiet little brag regarding Stella. Nothing flash like all you guys are up to but I have recently brought a treadmill which I we set up in the spare room to exercise my 2 on as I will be 'out of action' for a couple of months due to health reasons( won't bore you all with the details). Anyway they both had their first goes on it on last Sunday & they have both blown me away as they have taken to it like ducks to water  I just shaped the behaviour with yummy bait & then gradually increasing the duration. I am wrapped as since then we have been using it twice a day, approx 20mins with incline activated. It is raining this morning so we just did 30 mins each The funniest thing was on the 2nd night of them using it OH, Sonny & myself were all watching TV & Stella was 'missing' for a minute (very unusual) so I went to investigate, next thing I hear a little bark coming from the spare room. There she was standing on the treadmill, ready to go in the dark, barking in frustration at it as it wont go. After turning the light on Stella then looks over her shoulder at me in complete disgust & huffs out of the room  Just goes to show you you should never underestimate your reactive dogs. Here I was all concerned that she may not even be able to cope with it. Now I can't keep her off it.....She's always amazing me, my little smarty pants girl :D -
Halti Lead & Trialling/agility Later On
BC Crazy replied to Justrace's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yes huski, I agree loose leash & formal heel work are 2 totally different things. I like to encourage loose leash walking. It just makes a walk so much more pleasant & comfortable for both you & your dog. I love to watch formal heel work. Nothing is better than to see a dog that is totally focused on it's owner. I don't have a need to train formal work as such atm. But am happy that I can walk both my guys together on loose leashes 95% of the time & they are more than happy to do so. It has taken lots of practise but is so worth it. Now everyone enjoys being out & about :) OP, I don't have children though, so sorry I can't be of much help to you. I can only imagine it would be doable but more difficult. You would have to try & find a few spare minutes whenever possible with just you & your dog to train. You will never regret it if you can. Makes life so much easier for all concerned. Good luck :) -

I am a huge fan of the Infin8's. Used them on Sonny when he was young & currently use one on my reactive girl both with outstanding results. Wonderfully effective. Highly recommend them :) -
I accidently stumbled on a single image on the internet of some poor dogs that were jammed in a cage ready for the illegal dog in Thailand a few years ago & I wil never forget it . Horrific !! :( Soi dogs do wonderful work.

I agree with everyone's comments thus far Staffyluv, Zig is YOUR dog.... You call all the shots with him... You have every right to have him mix or not mix with whatever dog YOU choose. No instructor or anyone else. You know your dog best. Nobody else. You were totally within your rights to take him out of that scene. I would of done the very same thing. I commend you for doing just that. I used to lack confidence in this leadership area as well but having Stella who as you know is reactive/nervous, she has taught me tonnes & I have loads more confidence now & no hesitation in letting people know I don't wish for their dog to go near Stella. With some folks you have to be a bit more direct than I would like to but so be it. Zig has come such a long way & you have put the hard yards in with him. He is a real credit to you. Keep up the great work :)

Oh heavens Cuteness overload. Sumo is just so adorable. Great name too. Give him a big cuddle for me OK. Enjoy every minute of him being 'little' & cause I'm thinking he won't be for long  Look at the size of his beautiful feet !!! So nice for your other boy as well.

not enough food by any means. 2x4's a not a meal as such, they are a snack and extra hard to help keep teeth clean. This poor puppy needs at least 2 meals a day of proper food. This ! !

Any Opinions On This New Aussie Food?
BC Crazy replied to Rosetta's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'm really liking the ingredient list & the fact it is Aussie made. Not really liking the $$. Pretty expensive almost $30 for 2kg. And yes no protein, nutrient etc list.... -
One of my Border Collies used to bark at night on occassion & sometimes in the day at what seemed like nothing in his later years & he never, ever was a barker previously. He was diagnosed with Dementia. I am no Vet but this is sounding a bit like Dementia symptoms to me. One of the first signs was this random barking & I also noticed a distinct change in his eye's. His once very loving, shiny eye's had sought of lost some of their soul for want of a better explanation. That was one of the saddest things to see.

Cute as.... & the tag is pretty too :)

Glad to hear Ziggy is OK now.PHEW !! They are such a worry when you know there is obviously something not 'right'. Times like that you wish they could talk :D Might have been a green ant or a bee or something like that. They all are very painful..
-
Gosh I'm surprised Rebanne. I honestly thought they would feel the cold too much as they have a such little natural coat to be outside of a night. Especially in a colder climate. They are obviously a hardier breed than I thought :)

An elderly greyhound outside in winter? Thankfully the Op is not considering that. +1. Totally agree Clyde.

Thanks for the paws4dogs link Snook. I have bookmarked it to read when I get a spare minute. Looks very interesting... :) -
I dont think she's really trained him to wee on the mans leg. She's trained him to stand beside the man and raise his leg, the rest is editing and sound effects, (trickling). Yes, sounds more like a tap running  Is it Flynn liftng his leg? I've seen one of her girls do the trick and thought it didn't look like Flynn but that could just be my eyes playing tricks on me? The dog humping is Jinx, Flynn had a stand in  Glad I'm not the only one with with a little girl that humps  My girl does it after a game, when she is really excited. Not on Sonny or anybody but just in the air
-
Oh heavens no ! LOL Flynn wouldn't dare stoop to that low level  And yes the scooting his butt is hilarious. Even if his butt isn't quite on the ground, the action is perfect. cute alright :)
