  1. Thanks chewak. I think they are both so very cute too !! Am just a tad bias though :p Oh Sonny is hilarious with the his favourite ad's. He just bolts into the lounge room fast as he can as soon as he hears the music/or familiar sounds & sits there watching it, about 2 inches off the screen  His fav at the moment is the new Masters Hardware store ad. Don't know if you have seen it or not. It has a magnificent chocolate Border Collie, "Flynn", owned by Kelly Gill, Kerodan BC's. Anyway Sonny has meet him, whether he recognises him, I don't know but we run like mad to get front row seats for that one. I would love to know what is going through their mind too. Certainly keeps us very entertained. Just had to edit: Sorry for your loss Kiwigirl You Shitzu is just gorgeous chewak. My mum has an aged boy, "Toto" whom she just adores. I haven't had anything to do with little fluffies in the past. He is just the best companion type dog, aren't they? It's funny cause they sleep a lot in the day & I'm not used to that having always had BC's that are quite active usually.
  2. I owned 2 entire males, not at the same time but never had an issue with humping or marking. They were no trouble even with other entire unfamiliar males :)
  3. Yes walking the streets almost sends my 2 off to sleep I think. They just go through the motions if you will, like robots. I usually walk the fire trails through the bush there are a couple of really good tracks that go for miles right behind where I live in the winter, which they love & hardly ever see a sole. From spring through the summers months I use our leash free beach daily. I have been going there for almost 20 years. I have seen some crazy things in at times, some horrible examples of dog ownership. a puppy get killed Some very careless dog owners as well. But on the whole most people are just caring dog owners like myself. I pick my time of day when I know it is the least busy & are usually there for a couple of hours or so.Both mine absolutely love it. They swim & play together, retrieve ball & I do a bit of training. We walk the length of the beach twice. I keep mine away from all other dogs, 99% of the time. There is only a couple that I know are O.K. & mine are happy to mingle with. Some days we mingle, some not. There is also one end of the beach rarely used by anyone & that's our little nook. We end up doing about 7 or 8 km's a day so its great exercise for everybody & we go in all weathers. We embrace the rainy days as we have the beach to ourselves :)

    Shy Puppy

Congrats Heston1 Sounds like you are on a roll now with Heston. Great work. Sounds like he couldn't have a more dedicated owner. Some pups just need to build up their confidence a bit & they go through lots of changes as they mature both mentally & physically, fear periods e.t.c. On occasion my girl still 'checks in' with me if she feels uncertain about something. Maybe Heston would like to teach Stella how to run into the Vets, Stella has to be carried
  5. Yes it sure is. I just could never do that. So very sad. He's a very handsome boy too. Hope he finds a loving dedicated owner/home that he deserves very soon.
  6. Way to go Michelleva ! It's people like you with a very compassionate heart that restore my faith in the human race & make this world a much nicer place. Destiny will never let you forget your act of kindness. She will repay you with years of love that no amount of money could buy.
  7. All paws are crossed here for you Destiny, good luck with your surgery beautiful girl.
  8. I don't remember doing that tassie  Thanks everyone for you support. I have had a pretty stressful week with Miss S & then a vets visit but it's all good. Took her out this morning & she looks loads happier on that hind leg already :)
  9. Well we have just got back from Vets & Stella seems to have a done a little bit of ligament damage behind her toes,so not anything really major & she remembered her manners, so I am one very happy mother. One week on leash walks only & anti inflamitories. Phew ! Sorry for any type errors, havent got my glasses on LoL.
  10. Thanks Persephone. I have got myself in a bit of a state worrying about her. She does run flat out & turns on a dime everywhere she goes. There is no steady pace with her, so I am hoping It is nothing serious. We didn't have a very pleasant trip to the vets last time I took her. She got herself really worked up & ended up snapping at the poor Vets face hence my extra anxiety this afternoon. Will be going prepared with her muzzel today & remembering to breathe. Wish us luck.
  11. Same. I never put the long lead on their collar for that very reason :)
  12. Hi everyone, Well my Stella has been limping on her hind rear leg since last night. She injured it late yesterday afternoon. Not sure exactly how but next thing I know she is really favouring it. By last night she was almost hopping about on 3 legs If she does stand on all fours she kind of stands on her tip toes on that particular foot. I gave her some Joint Guard with her dinner last night & this morning she seemed fine until she went for a little run in the backyard after being crated all night. Straight away pulled up as lame as anything She is a very stoic girl, so I am thinking she must be in a lot of pain as she did whimper a bit when she got up from a lying down position this afternoon. Poor girl. I so hope it isn't her CL I have made her rest all day & we are off to vets late this afternoon. I am so worried about her know. I hope she is going to be O.K.
  13. I would just pay the extra & own him out right. Save any hassels that may occur IMHO. Maybe you might be best to wait till another puppy comes along that you like if you can't come to an agreement that suits with this boy. I waited over 12 months for my 2nd dog, a little girl & had 4 'false alarms' if you will. For one reason or another the arrangements fell through. I just didn't want any puppy though, I had my eye on certain blood lines & I required a little girl so it narrows down you selection some what. I am now owning 2 dogs together for the first time. Have always had just one. I am loving it. Yes it is more work but to see them play together everyday makes it all so worth it. My baby girl is a lot of dog, very complex, I wasn't anticipating that. Hence when I say 'extra work'. They are all very different characters. Lucky my boy is a very lay back lad as they compliment each other perfectly. What I have also loved is that my first dog has really blossomed since getting Stella. Another thing I wasn't anticipating. I really think you have to go with your gut instinct on this call. Sounds like you have really want & could handle 2. Then go for it :) & enjoy.
  14. So there is light at the end of my pretty, little, VERY reactive girls tunnel LOL !! Well done to you PME & Kenzie. You have put the hard yards in with Kenz & if it were me I would be throwing a party & wollowing in her progress :)
  15. We have 2 avid tele watchers here. Stella only likes certain channels & shows. Animal Plannet being her favourite. Sonny on the other hand is a huge fan of T.V. Pretty much anything that moves on any channel. Cartoons, especially the oldies, Bugs Bunny & alike. Horse racing, most ad's , e.t.c e.t.c Any fishing show he is up at the screen snapping at the poor, flapping fish on the end of the line. He can actually be in another room & hear the music off his fave ad. & bolt into the lounge room straight up to within 2cm of the tele  Oh & he loves the CI channel NOT. If a show comes on like Aussies Most Wanted & they show the "baddies” profiles, he charges up to the T.V. growling, barking & carrying on a treat. Go figure  We have a very funny lounge room
  16. Yes I took those in too & couldn't agree more, sooo cute ! :)
  17. + 1. Deb's customer service is amazing! + 2 here & yes wonderful service :)
  18. Oh no your right megan I didn't take it that way. Just trying to see my through this too :) I just got to say in one of your previous posts that you put your hand up, like as if to say "stop" if an off leash dog approaches trying to deter them & get their owners attention to recall their dog. I try this too but so far the owners are none the wiser & just wave back at me like I'm saying "hi" to them. ERRR!! Snook has a very good idea everyone should look after a reactive dog for just a week it may help change the handle leash free. I am another who is fed up with careless people. They just think leash free means you get there & let your dogs off to run a muck.
  19. Yes you are right megan & probably I should have come to this solution earlier but I wanted to try alot of herbal or alternative remedies first just incase one of them worked for us. The Daps or Troy Behave & alike. I tried lots of them. But here we are.
  20. I think if you have tried every other remedy, exhausted all other avenue's without success & your dog is still living on the edge for most of their day, what choice does a devoted owner have. I am not happy with having to medicate my girl & am still getting my head around it TBH but I feel she would be a far happier, content dog if she could get some much needed rest during the day or even just lay down & chill without running franticly round the yard, crying.
  21. Thanks for that Tassie, I just ordered some :)
  22. I was going to try that Tassie, you must find it works well? have to give it a go as I have tried many grooming sprays & haven't found one that I am wrapped with as yet :)
  23. Smartypaws, thanks for your vote of confidence & interesting to hear your boy is having a lot more "green" moments than previously with a little chemical & relaxation intervention One day I am hoping my girl will have some "green" moments too, instead of the firey orange/red we are living in at present. Snook, don't be too hard on yourself about the descisions you make regarding Justice. It is easy in reflection to say "oh I shouldn't of put him in that situation" but when you are there you only have a second to make that call. I would love $$ for every wrong call I have made regarding my 2 precious BC's & yes like you I beat myself up at every opportunity I get about it  Especially regarding Stella cause she is just so different. I'm like where have I gone wrong with her.I do blame myself & yet I think it may be a genetic thing, still doesn't stop me. My Sonny is such a lovely calm, very together, well balanced boy & Stella is well, Stella. All I can say is thank god I haven't got 2 Stel's They'd have me committed I reckon  Hankdog, your poor Jake has had an unfortunate start but you sound like you have made very good ground with him Well done to you. I have tried Calm by Pet Ark on Stella without success. If you find a reset button on Jake will you let me know where it is, I'm in desperate need to push Stella's Just had to edit for quick update regarding Stel & after speaking to the vet have decided to give her a try on Endep. Seems to work the best apparently. See how we go, it will take a few weeks before I will notice any change but that"s fine with me as long as she gets some relief I will be happy. Has anyone else's tried Endep with their dogs?? I know I have used it & didn't know it was OK for dogs till not so long ago?
  24. Your post #336 made me think that medication could well be warranted in her case. She would feel like crap all day having to be constantly hyper vigilant or noise phobic - whichever the case may be. When you have a dog that winds up over it's threshold for long periods of time, no learning is occurring. If you are at the stage where you are not getting anywhere, chemical help is needed. Very good point Staff n Toller. That 's exactly what Stella is, you describe her to the letter. Hyper vigilant & noise phobic, she's both. I do try to distract her train of thought when she starts to get wound up but it is like she is in a trace like state if you will, oblivious to everything & everyone around her, until she can calm herself back down which takes a while. Am in the process of speaking with my vet to see what he suggests but am aware she does need some form of chemical help.
