Thank you for that! I just need to work out how to work through this guilt I'm feeling. I also need to adjust life without him. I knew it would hurt, but I didn't think it would hurt THIS much! But I know with time it will heal - it will never stop hurting, but I will learn to 'accomodate' it! It's right up there with when I lost my mother to cancer - except I didn't have this kind of guilt to carry around. I also lost my mum to cancer and losing my old boy was right up there as well I'm feeling every step with you MsDani, one at a time. I too lost my dear father to cancer 3 months after losing my beautiful heart dog," Redman " at 14.5. I had to give him his wings. His loss is too right up there with my dad. Ms Dani you are coping very well through this most difficult time. The flood of emotions you feel that accompanies loss are so vast that it can be so very over whelming. Not to mention extremely tiring. Just take things easy, enjoy your other dog & rest assured your beloved boys spirit is always with you forever.

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
BC Crazy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
It will be a last resort to try medication Snook. I am usually dead against it but I think I have a pretty extreme case here. We are both exhausted by the end of each day & Stella is not the type of dog I like to leave alone for any length of time. She is such a sweet girl, all I want to do is help her relax. What you are saying is very true as is with Justice, her anxiety levels soar so high so quickly that nothing seems to help as she is too far gone, so to speak. -

Hi Snook, yes it is not easy with Stella as she is pretty much a nervous wreck at the slightest sound. Don't know why. Think it is just her make up. She is a very complex girl, like no dog I have ever had before. Thanks for sharing the link & I will be reading up on that. I haven't heard of it before. I will give anything a go. I have tried both the DAP spray & collar to on avail unfortunatley. To be honest Snook I am thinking of seeing the Vet about her & maybe getting something very mild to take the edge off for her. She is almost frantic most of the day. By night time she is exhausted, poor little girl -
What's that in meters? Showing my age now, aren't I? LOL. 10 metres is 33 feet. I started off with a 5 metre one when dogs are youngsters :)

She has grown alright & put on some weight, which is great. She looks wonderful. Way to go Hollie & your awesome team of helpers -
I just ordered one today actually Jozlyn. I have one but it was Nylon & I have had my share of rope burns so I ordered a Gripe soft one that is not suppose to slip in your hands The one I ordered is the official tracking length apparently, 33 feet from K9 Pro online :)

Citronella Anti-bark Collar
BC Crazy replied to deltoid's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yes megan, that is what happened with Stella. She was as quiet as a church mouse when she was wearing the collar & the moment I took it off, it was "game on" again  -
Citronella Anti-bark Collar
BC Crazy replied to deltoid's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I tried a citronella collar on Stella my 22 month old BC as she barks at the birds & pretty much anything in the backyard & found that it was successful at first. Citronella collars aren't very reliable at all IMHO. At times it would go off & other times it wouldn't. I brought a good quality one as well. Not a cheapie. Anyway it ended up in the bin because one day it went off when Stella barked but didn't stop & scared her half to death as she was trying to run away from the continuing Cit. spraying out all over the place. Lucky I was at home at the time & ran out & took it of her. Sorry I am not much other help as my girl still carries on a treat in the yard but she is a very reactive, high drive girl so we are very much a work in progress. She has improved though but through training more that anything else. -
She's awesome "Look out, here I come" crash !!!! Reggie's beautiful

Hi hankdog, interesting post. Might keep my eye on that. Diet is very important. I don't have kids but if I've seen dramatic change in my nephew if he has too much artificle stuff. He goes hypo. Why couldn't that happen to certain dogs? I am very strict with Stella's diet & monitor it closely. She has the same as Sonny only a smaller amount & I measure it all out as I have attendency to overfeed if I don't. Has Jake always been DA ? Stella is so frustrating because her reactivness to other dogs is so random. Could walk past 20 dogs, not a worry, no. 21 she chases & bowls over. She loves all little dogs & is so gentle with them. She is a very reactive girl at home in the backyard where you would think she would relax. The slightest noise, a bird flies past, god the other day a man sneezed 2 doors up on his balconny & Stella went nuts. I had to put her Thunder Shirt on her to help her calm down poor girl. I do feel for her as it must be exhausting living on edge all the time. -
It will hurt . LOTS. accept that it will..and don't try & 'get over it '..or 'cope' , or 'smarten up' Your little dog was with you , filling a very special spot in your heart for many years ..and now your path is a different one to his . His is now free & easy ..yours suddenly has rocks and holes . So .. you need to have someone on whom to lean ... and walk a bit slower for a little while , until you find that the path is getting less rugged. + 1 Beautifully said Persephone.

So sorry MsDani You have done a very selfless thing & he is free now. He is not suffering anymore. RIP & run free boy.

Yes pic's please. So I haven't lost the plot & did read this thread correctly. Phew LOL for a minute there. I have 2 of those "tiny long haired" ones & both them together weigh less than your's. Wasn't being rude just taken back is all.

My 2 get a section of cut up raw chic frame daily & they love it . Only ever raw not cooked :) Had to edit just to add I always supervise meals especially when there is bones of any type, just never know if they could choke on something.

I am so enjoying this light hearted thread. Oh the things we do LOL. Would we have it any other way. Not on your life. Must try & post a couple of pics my 2 suffering the same fate. Poor dear's :)
