I do attend a leash free beach everyday & have done for almost 20 years. I don't like those fenced in leash free's & doubt I would use one. I am very careful at the beach, I always go at certain time etc I survey the beach first & see if I know most dogs on there, which I normally do. But if I am unsure ,we don't go & make other plans. Over the years I have had some wonderful times & meet some beautiful dogs. I have also seen some of the worst things ever. Pups getting bullied & much worse These bad memories are etched in my mind forever. I don't attend the leash free on w.ends or holidays either as there are to many unknowns.

So sorry for your loss & how it has impacted on poor Lottie I think a little training is a great idea of mita's or teach maybe a couple of new tricks. Keep lotties mind occupied & the big fuss when we are done.

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
BC Crazy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks PME for your supportive post regarding all of us who have reactive dogs. We all do our very best for them & it is an uphill battle, extremely frustrating at times & full of set backs it seems. Then you make some progress & your faith is restored that you are going to make it with your beloved BF. This thread has been a real godsend for me & I have learnt so much from others with similar problems. Everyone has been so supportive, when you feel like "why is this happening to us", when I am trying so hard on many levels & nothing is working. Quick update regarding Stella. She has been on anxiety medication for almost a month now & I am so pleased with her progress. She is so much more at ease & a lot less tormented during the day in our backyard where she was at her worst. She used to run & whine in a trance like state pretty much all day as soon as she heard the slightest noise. Now after we return from our walk in the morning she actually lays down & even has a nap sometimes. I have shed a few happy tears for her of late cause I could only imagine how much better she must be feeling to be a little more comfortable in her own skin & yet she isn't like a zoombie either. Which was one of my main concerns about giving her meds, I didn't want her to be in a medicated haze but to my surprise she is still her very alert self. The only negitive thought I have is I should have sort chemical help for her sooner :) Just had to edit to add that since Stella has been on meds she is slightly improved on walks in situations that would normally send her off, she is a little less reactive at times anyway. I think even before you we head off on our daily walk it has got to be a bonus to do so in a slightly calmer state of mind. -
My Lad Makes Me So Proud Sometimes...
BC Crazy replied to Staffyluv's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is so good. Have been working on the very same thing with my girl & she done me proud on the beach not so long ago. Huge piece of srummy dead fish bait which she almost gobbeled up & as soon as I asked her to "leave it" she literally coughed up the stinky fish straight away & quickly sat & looked up at me for her treat. I was very happy with that effort :) -
We have a Pet Barn here & it sells puppies & kittens in those aweful glass cabnets And has done for quite some time. I wont enter the store as I don't agree with it. Just had to edit as these animals aren't rescues either. They are mostly from BYBer's

BC Crazy replied to Michelleva's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Love the sign you have made for Destiny's crate. Thats not crazy, thats being passionate & devoted about something very close to your heart. I'm sure Des feels the very same way. She is one very fortunate kitty :) -

Feeding Raw And Grain-free Dry Food
BC Crazy replied to Sail_Away's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My girl who normally eats whatever is put in front of her has decided as of yesterday that she is not going to eat Barf & has turned her nose up at it again this morning, so she is back to human grade Kangaroo mince which she had decided she much prefers. Must be this thread. or I have jinxed myself LOL. Or maybe it's just Stella being a little b," I'll show you what l like & what I don't “ :) -

I like EB grain free too as I posted earlier. We have to have grain free here as my boy is grain intolerant. -
Feeding Raw And Grain-free Dry Food
BC Crazy replied to Sail_Away's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sail away, I just had another look at the Barf Big Dog Kangaroo ingredients list & as far as I can see it doesn't have any preservatives in it Maybe there is a something on the list I am missing. I would prefer my dogs to have the least amount of preservatives too. Gosh this whole best diet for our dogs can do your head in -

We do very well here on Big Dog Barf Kangaroo or small chic frame/ beef brisket bone & TOTW dry food. My 2 love TOTW in any of the grain free varieties :) -
Yes dandybrush, how could they close their eye's at night knowing that their puppy was slowly starving to death Totally agree with you DB. I am another not brave enough to open the original link. Poor, poor puppy. Beggers belief really. I would go without food if need be & have done in my younger days to feed mine. I worry if I am a few minutes late with their dinner.

Watched the link you provided nekhbet & thanks for providing it. Point taken. The only time I stand still & just hold the leash is if I haven't seen Stella's "enermy" approaching & all of a sudden she is right there. On our walks Stella seems calm & quite relaxed. Enjoys interaction with all people/children & most other dogs. It is just this certain few that seem to push her buttons. We have successfully learn't to not react to mowers, whippersnippers & scooters 99% of the time while out walking. Which I am very pleased with. As she was very reactive to those when she was younger. Stella is a very anxious dog at home. Which is very confusing to me as this is where she is safest. She runs frantic round the yard at the slightest sound. A man sneezed outside 2 doors up & she went berserk , runs around the yard barking & whinning about 3 weeks ago & it took hours for her to calm herself down. She would not sleep all day either, not even lie down. That was when I decided to see vet with her. So I now have had her on Endep for 3 weeks as my vet recommended for her anxious behaviour. I can see improvement in Stella at home. She is alot calmer & seems alot more at ease with herself, not so tormented which I am so pleased about. She is not drowsy or anything but she does get a little arvo nap now after our mornings walk. So will continue with the meds & LAT work with these certain couple of "enermy" dogs, hopefully we can conquer this reactivness. Just wanted to edit to say sorry to hachi, don't mean to hijack your thread.
