  1. There's a bobtail gene in rotttie's 1 in a million, but no in dobies.
  2. Don't know if this will work???
  3. Thankyou, it was just a vent on here, because I was just too gutless to take them on there. I'm happy with my decisions. I'm on my phone at the moment powerlegs, I'll try to upload one on the computer later, cause I can never see to upload it from here.
  4. So frustrated at the moment. I desexed my 3 year old boy yesterday. Last night I put pictures up on my FB wall of him sulking (really only because he has to wear the cone of shame). I am a registered (with the ccc) breeder, but I haven't used my prefix because I haven't had the right one to breed from or the timing has been really bad. My boy, before I desexed him, I checked with my breeder, to check she didn't want him first. So I was 100% happy with my decision. I have an entire bitch and I didn't want them getting together. So on FB, I didn't realize how many do-gooder, rescue friend I had, until I put these pictures up and they're all telling me I've done the right thing. So were they all judging me before, for doing the wrong thing, for having an entire dog. I only did this for my convenience, what right do they have to judge. Vent over.
  5. Another one to try, that not a lot of people know about is Performadog. It's a Melbourne based dry kibble, that the first 2 things are meat and meat by products and its a really small kibble, so I'm quite content giving it to my dobies and to my little Tenterfield terrier.
  6. When I was in Brissy, I also used these Guys. Put in a call, pay by BPAY and it was delivered the next day. They were fantastic!!
  7. Be warned it does leave a stain on your hands and if the dog rubs quickly afterwards it'll leave a stain on whatever he rubbed on. But I had exactly the same problem, enough that my poor boys ears bled, I used purple spray, which you can find at any horse store. It has antiseptic for the ears and fly spray for the flys. It's a purple stain, so you can see where it has been sprayed.
  8. If you don't mind a bit of travel, when I lived there I went to Springfield Lakes Pet and Vet. Jason was really good and willing to listen to me and we worked together to sort out my dogs.
  9. Gift card rather than money, as if it was me, money is leave on the kitchen bench for you to find when you got home.
  10. Lure coursing is based on chasing rabbits, small short runs (if it did a long run the dogs would outrun it and catch it) with a lot of turns in it, to get away from the dogs.
  11. Thanks for all of the recommendations!! I appreciate it and will look into all of them. White Shephard Mum I swim my dogs there and love all of the nurses, but struggle with the vets, but o haven't met Clive yet, but mornings only just won't work.
  12. I've only been in Perth for a year and my vets I'm choosie with as I have been thoroughly spoilt with my last 2. I'm on the Northside of Perth, but don't mind travelling for the right vet, male or female doesn't matter either, must be good with big dogs. I'm needing a vet, that I can get to know and feel confident with on all matters of veterinary. I only go to the vets 2 or 3 times a year (knock on wood, KNOCK on wood), but I need someone who wants to work with me to get the best out of my pets, not what's best for their hip pocket. Any suggestions?
  13. I've been here a year now, but I've been thoroughly spoiled before with vets, having two really good ones. So on the lookout for a great one here in Perth. I'm on the Northside but don't mind travelling, for the right vet. I only see a vet two or three times a year (knock on wood, KNOCK on wood), but I want a vet that gets to know me and my pets and works with me to get the best out of them, not their hip pocket. I don't mind travling a bit for the right one. Has anyone any suggestions?
  14. These are dobies and I have a 3 year old entire (soon to be not) boy and a 1 year old entire girl. She's getting ready to come into her first season, so the play between to the two has been upped (and no, I'm keeping a close eye on it and he's not getting the chance). Where the game is funny, they both take it in turns to submit and his is by rolling over and she gets to jump all over him and then they'll be up and run around again. Then it starts again with rearing up like horses, chest bumping and bitey face, here's where it gets weird. When it's her turn to submit, only her head and neck go down and then my boy will bite (and when I say bite, I don't mean bite down, I mean use his whole mouth) her muzzle and gently bring her head back up and hold it slightly higher than what she usually had it. She won't struggle, or try to back away. He will then spit her out and the whole game will start again. The way I'm writing it, sounds nasty, but it's all quite gentle and it's obviously her game/play submit, just one I hadn't seen before.
  15. There are a lot out there, that are healthy and parents have had all the health testing done first. You just have to find them ???? For me my dream dog is the Porceline, after someone put it up here on DOL.
  16. It wasn't that hot here, but I was one of the spectators for a baby being left in the car here yesterday. They now have a broken passenger window to fix, cause Baby was coming out of the car ????????
  17. We don't do IPO training, but CETA dog club, is a obedience club that is mostly working dogs. We train at the old Wattlegrove Primary School on Sunday Mornings at about 9am.
  18. My dogs once got out and they were chipped and ended up in the pound. Not only did they not check the chip, my girl was a brown Dobie and do when I was saying I was looking for her the pound was saying she wasn't there. Luckily I had left my number and when a new staff member came on, she recognised her and called me.
  19. Should leave your hens, but he'll be after the eggs.
  20. Thanks Ptolomy I have answered ????
  21. Can you please pm me her number?
  22. If she is here how do I get hold of her please?
  23. I have done a search, but the last topic of this I could find was 2010. So I wanted to ask people opinions of who to see please?
  24. I love Rottweilers but don't like Dobes. They are not as versatile or robust. And are more aloof. Same, Dobermans just don't seem like my type of dog I'm the opposite. I love Dobes but have never liked Rotties. I'm not sure why and I can appreciate a nice looking Rotty but I've never wanted to own one nor met one I've really liked. I've had 7 Dobermanns and 6 and a half Rottweilers. I was a Dobe person prior to being a Rotti person. Now I'd never go back. And although I can absolutely appreciate and admire a lovely Dobe, I find them very similar to the Standard Poodle in temperament (yep had one of them also) and just find them too emotional, anxious and soft. and before I get jumped on I totally get that they all have different temperaments but I am making a generalised overall comparison. Also watching Doberman movement disturbs me a bit and I don't mean it in a picky way, but they to lack elasticity in the rear. I'm with Grumpette, definitely nowhere near as robust, easy going or versatile as the Rottweiler. Still a very handsome and majestic dog none the less :) Whereas, I'm the opposite, I like the fineness of the Dobie, the rottie's to chunky for me. I do have to agree though, now days there is a lot of anxieties coming through, you just have to hunt around for the ones without.
