  1. My Dobie boy will make grunting noises when he's excited to see me, like when I'm taking his coat out to be put on him. They're like nothing I've ever heard before.
  2. My Guys are on a bed each on the floor in our bedroom. When it's me only on the bed, I'll invite them up, but when Hubby's around, I sprawl so much that there's no room for them as well. ;)
  3. Love it! I hide toys for my cats in their enclosure and Diz is all like "No freaking way!!!!! Where did that come from????!!" What about a few potted plants for scent? Tough things like lemon balm (watch as it spreads like wildfire) my cats go nuts for - I wonder if dogs would enjoy it as a novelty? I don't know about lemon grass, but my Boofer of a dog loves to walk through and try to hide and stalk (he's seen from a mile away *sigh*) in the really long native grasses.
  4. For me, I'm usually at the other end of the stick with a black male entire Dobie, who sillily carries his tail right up over his body. At a quick glance he looks really dominant, especially when he stands up and I have had people move away from him because if it, and you will actually see him shrink a bit because of it, if he had his choice every single person in the world is made to love and hug him. For vets, I find it easiest to park outside (I have a ute with a canopy on) and let the nurses know I'm there and then I usually stand outside with them with the top open. When the vets ready for me, usually he or one of the nurses will come to the door and call me. It just makes life easier for everyone. :)
  5. Thankyou Guys You make me feel so much better. My pretty girl is no worse than my other dogs, it's just been 3 years since I've had a pup, and you sort of forget... At the moment, I have holes being dug to China and both dogs sleep on their beds in our bedroom. If I'm not in there, with them, I come back to all sorts of stuff chewed, the last thing was Hubby 's work boots and luckily he took it with good grace, cause I was half expecting the "outside" with that one. ;) luckily he loves her too...
  6. I'm in need of some funny stories, cause I have a 6 month puppy at the moment and I have to watch her with everything, for chewing. She'll be into anything not tied down if she gets the chance. What's your stories?
  7. For dog beds inside, I have 2 cot mattresses, that I got for free and I cover them with a sheet and then a blanket or 2.
  8. She charges behaviourist fees, but I have used and recommend Kate Lindsay. [email protected]
  9. I have a comfy collar and even though my boy sulks when he has to wear it, he's fine in it. I'm not 100% sure what it would be like in summer though, I think it'd be quite hot.
  10. Thankyou everyone, I will pass all of these names on.
  11. I lost my heart girl about 5 years ago. I've had a couple of fur kids since then, but nothing like her. 6 months ago, a breeder bred my favourite bitch and even though having another puppy was the last thing on my mind, I knew I had to have one. I'm living this little girl and she's slowly replacing my heart girl and fixing something that's been missing. What I love most is I will bend down to give her a cuddle and she will raise her mussel up and lay it across my cheek. It's like she's telling me, "I know, I'm here" and I didn't realize how much I need it.
  12. Have a good friend that has a Very submissive rottie, that had been bullied by other dogs (my friend knows she's done it wrong) and is starting to get aggressive because if it, she's also starting to get a bit aggressive with adult (human) males as well. Need a good behaviourist recommendation? She's in Canberra?
  13. Try Lilcracka's coats www.lilcracka.com
  14. Dr Kate Lindsay is a qualified vet and animal behaviourist. I found her really helpful. [email protected]
  15. I've seen that photo and all I can think of is OMG the mating, no matter which way it went.
  16. My tentie had to have her tip docked when she was desexed and the vet nurses cut the end off and cut open a syringe and put that around it with padding. It worked excellent as a splint.
  17. Try swapping food, to another high quality brand. My dogs were on Royal Canin and were really Meh on eating it, they could take it or leave it. Yet for treats they would do anything. I finally swapped them over to a different brand and they're now wolfing it down.
  18. This is what I have for my dobies, they hate it, but it works the best. They can still eat, drink and sleep in it quite happily.
  19. agreed. I'll third this, a veterinary behaviourists is someone who can prescribe meds if needed.
  20. Rottie Mum FM Catahoulas, is who I was going to contact. :)
  21. Like our kids won't listen to us, but if somebody else says exactly the same thing, they think God has spoken. Maybe get someone else, that he respects, to say something to him.
  22. My boy used to chew the front of his coats and get out of them from there, I think he didn't like the pressure on his chest. Now I buy the Lilcracka with a neck piece in it and he loves it, always the first to greet me at the gate.
  23. The OP has come in here for help, not for flaming. She knows what's happened wasn't supposed too and she's making the best of a bad situation, a situation that is not original and sometimes happens no matter what precautions we put into place. She's had a lot of fantastic support and suggestions and I'm sure that's what she came to DOL for. I hope all goes well for you!!
