  1. 2 dogs is normal to me however we've just gone to 3 which I guess I could relate to your situation. It's about making sure you have individual time with each dog and that you make sure you treat them like dogs so there aren't going to be any jealously, NILIF is a method I reccomend you look at and implement with your own dog before you get a 2nd dog My old girl is a Daddy's girl and the Boys are Mumma's boys - not because we planned it that way, it was just the natural relationships that formed.
  2. Crate in the bedroom.....problem fixed My foster pup sleeps in the crate in the lounge because he's happy there. I had my own pup in a crate in the bedroom, that way I could hear him cry if he needed to toilet over night. He did pack some tantrums to start with but they were just ignored and they in-turn faded away. A bathroom is a cold sterile place that I don't believe puppies belong in. You effectively have taken a puppy away from its' litter which is all it knew and put it in the bathroom.....wonder why it's not happy? I don't think there's any point in having a crate if you're not going to use it properly.

It depends how much of a correction you're comfortable giving I guess? I can't see a dog not responding even when very distracted by issuing a correction at an individual level to them that will have their attention back on you. In addition to the correction, it's timing and consistancy. Some people just give it because the pup is just all over the place. I personaly prefer a correction with praise form of training but we're all different and all dogs are different.
  4. My allergic dog has a thin coat as many allergic dogs do so they feel the cold.
  5. If you have a dog with itchy skin then you need a product that has a balanced Ratio of Omega's 3, 6 & 9 otherwise you could be contributing to the itch.
  6. I found this thread a bit odd....the dog is pacing....and? Dogs pace for all kinds of reasons....not neccessarily bad ones. If the poster is worried then off to the Vet...
  7. I'd thought I'd share with you my new foster pup who is 5.5 months old and showing great potential. I'm positive I could trial him before my Dane but he's not staying! LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOPydoeh0rQ
  8. I'd be booting them both off the couch because they don't deserve to be there and implement NILIF 100% consistently whilst you wait for your appointment with a Behaviourist to show you how to manage your pack that doesn't see you as the Leader anymore.
  9. I hadn't looked at the price, now I'm scared! I used tent pegs on my old one, is that viable?
  10. You can also use Crate Games which you can google on Youtube

All you do by pulling back is make the dog pull forward.

A standard harness teaches a dog to pull so don't go there. You can try a front clipping harness however nothing beats learning how to train your dog to heel properly. Do you have an obedience school or a trainer to work with?
  13. Dogs dig in their beds to re-arrange them to make them comfortable, just the same way people puff their pillows
  14. Thank you for this, I might take him to see the derm guy and see what he has to say about his skin. I find a lot of conflicting advice on here. But I guess it just proves that all dogs are different. I don't think there's any conflicting advice. Just people who actually have had allergic dogs for a long time trying to help you not waste your money on something that's not going to give you clear indication. Go for the Derm It is conflicting, what is the cause for one, isn't the other, what works for one doesn't the other etc. Thats what I meant. All dogs are different, which is why maybe my vet thinks it could be chix only, who knows. But I will try and get into to see Mike at QLD specialist vets next week. Thank you all again for your advise and help it's all greatly appreciated. No one here can tell you what the cause is, you need to go to a Derm Your Vet is wasting your money having you try a Kibble for an elimination, sorry if that offends you, however people here who have been there and done that are trying to save you the money
  15. Chickens haven't been fed hormones in Australia since the 1970's, however they do get anti-biotics.
  16. Start how you mean to go on.
  17. Yep we walk in the rain, it's a great way to stop them being precious about going toilet when it's raining LOL
  18. My dog is on Raw and Has Apple Cider Vinegar and we still get coat staining.
  19. Do you think that would work for my boy who ends up with Brown areas where he rests his head ie. when he curld up his head rests on his legs and gis legs get stained. are you going to give it a try? Maybe, knowing my luck he'll be allergic to it like everything else in the world he's allergic too LOL
