Cortisone gives very temporary relief. It's not going to interfere with the elimination diet. If the Cortisone is preventing her from itching then the elimination diet is going to be effected because the itching is a sign of what is and isn't working? ?

Ditch the vet and find another one!

Yep, you're old girl is bound to be grumpy! My old girl was as well. It is good for the pup to be around an adult that will put them in their place but what I learned the hardway is not to leave it up to the adult dog to dicipline....looses your leadership and when the adult dog doesn't repremand the way you want them too the little bugger of a puppy just gets worse. The couch was also a safe haven for my old girl too. If you get your pup on a lead, you can tether the pup (only when supervised by you) to the sofa leg if you want and pup learns to relax on the tether which is a positive thing and then maybe 3 or 4 times a night (if you're only home at night), take your pup on a lead to the mature dog and encourage positive interaction, use treats (for both dogs for good behaviour) and encouraging vocals (not too excited) to get your puppy to return to you (whilst on lead) if puppy is harassing the adult dog too much and then once calm the puppy can try again. Repetition, it takes around 40 instances for a dog to learn something new (fully learn). And with rat bad puppies it can seem to take a long time, just be 100% consistent and you'll get there faster. Yeah you really need to be seperating pup outside because not only is puppy annoying your older dog which is cementing this bad behaviour the pup could also become injured from being such a nut bag. Kennel runs are good ideas as the pup can still see the older dog, or a fence boundary down the middle of the yard etc.

It's hard work being a puppy....so much sleep that needs to be had!

In cases like this the only interaction your puppy should have with the older dog is when the puppy is onlead and controlled by you until such a time where it has learned what is acceptable. For my dog in most cases it was around 6 months of age but it wasn't fully until 1.5 years of age that he really got his act together. The also need to be seperated when you're not home. Some puppies are just right little buggers! You can't just leave it up to the old dog to correct the puppies behaviour, this is your job as the leader.

The dog can still cope fine, no worries, he may just not get a date anytime soon.

Just his teeth hitting his food bowl can wear them down over time, depends what kidna of eater he is.

I think simply sometimes the puppy just doesn't like the food, you can try the whole leaving it down for 15 minutes and picking it up but if after a week you still have the same problem that would indicate the puppy isn't just being a pain in the ass and it may be time to try a different food. A trap not to fall into though is giving in and giving a whole range of different foods because then you can end up with a very fussy eater.

Realisticaly it could be anything. Rule some things out in terms of search your garden for plants dogs can get allergic reactions too. Think of anything that has changed, i.e. have you used a foam capret cleaner/deordiriser, different washing liquid, used Nappy San on Dogs beddign or towels used to dry the dog after a bath, is the dog bedding clean and been washed in hot water recently? Sometimes synthetic materials in dog beddings can upsettle skin, any blankets used recently like the fake minky blankets? At this stage it's pretty unlikely to be the food especially if you have been feeding what your feeder fed and you have continued that for the last 5 weeks. Have you given any new treats? Do you use a catcher when you mow the lawns? Sometimes it's a good idea to treat for fleas every 2 weeks for a month or so and see if that assists, you don't have to see them on your dog for them to irritate your dog. You can wash the tummy area in cool water then once dry get a spray bottle do up a 50/50 mixture of White Vinegar and White and spray on the affected areas and see if that helps. If you have these symptons for more than a week, it's best to visit your Vet. Also, just because it's on the tummy that does not mean it's a contact allergy. Contact his Breeder to let them know, they may have some insight for you and be able to give advice.

Hoping everything will be ok. In Danes we don't generally let puppies play with adults in case of injury, it can happen so easily.

I use on my dogs and even myself from time to time Eqyss Mega-Tek Rebuilder: http://www.eqyss.com/pet_mega_tek.asp Bit pricey though, but you don't need to use much, it does go a long way. It's available from http://www.petsonthepark.com.au but I think you have to e-mail them about it.

I wonder what specificaly those legal reasons are.

Sorry I meant by 'did that answer the question' - that I don't think that answered the question, that referred to making clinical notes and the keeping of foal xrays or did I miss something? If you're paying big bucks as you one usually does for xrays then you should be able to take them with you if you wish to.

Man, I'd be annoyed LOL
-
Did that answer the question?
-
LOL Our skin issue dog is our Bratty pain in the ass dog.
-
Typical man eh. I'm sure he'll come around in the end.
-
They're rubbish.

Just coming back to make sure your husband still loves you after the Vet visit today LOL

I think you'll find that the Heart Worm injection is a different one we have here than what had issues in the states some 2-3 years ago. I know plenty of people who have given it to their dog without any issues.

To me it's either A) Tired or B) starting to test boundaries I'd personaly have pup checked at the Vets to make sure everything is ok there. If you think it's puppy testing boundaries, perhaps speak to a trainer about how to show puppy you don't want this behaviour. I know what I would do but it may not be right for your pup.

Re-direction to a toy didn't work for us, we waited too long and didn't end up giving our dog a proper correction until he was 5.5 months old for the mouthing and he was horrible, lunging, and biting us...hard! Some puppies are right little brats! Learn from our mistake and set boundaries for your puppy and be consistent.

I was just wondering why you didn't collect from your dog and desex him instead of him suffering badly for 7 years? You say it's not harmful but then said he suffered? Did I miss something?

Would some sort of stress release remedy say an hour before bed be worth a go? I pesonaly reccomend the Stress Relief one from here: http://www.healwithease.com/homoeopathic-p...vidual-remedies Also as another poster mentioned, try crate training so pup feels safe when sleeping.
