  1. Please don't generalise Steve, a lot of breed clubs do their very best for their members. Even though we are a minority breed we run a very successful club and have a large membership. Not all breed clubs are the same, the fact that you had a negative experience with one club doesn't give you the right to tar all clubs with the same brush.
  2. I once had a dog with the same symptoms, turned out she had inhaled a grass seed.
  3. I couldn't agree more I run one male separately to my other two boys and I've been doing it for six years, it's no big deal, you get used to it. People seem to forget that we are dealing with DOGS here and not all dogs get along, when you are running a pack these things happen. As lilli says, it's NORMAL!
  4. I used this for years and loved it, I used it when it was imported from the U.S. and then when it was made in Australia, it suited my dogs very well and they looked great on it.
  5. Very well said lilli, sums it up perfectly
  6. I can't see any dog results either, just the results of the goldfish judging.
  7. This is soooo true, instead of sitting at your computer bitching and whining get out there and do something positive.
  8. If you are so concerned about the state of the breed the best way to improve matters is to breed, produce healthy dogs of correct type and temperament and then get them into the show ring so that current judges can see what a well bred Dobermann should look like. Or is that too hard, takes too much blood sweat and tears? How long have you actually been in the breed? Not very long judging by your posts and your attitude.
  9. Very well said HW, I couldn't agree more.
  10. Granted, the OP was just driving past. There could have been anything in the cup. The OP said coffee in their post and they didnt also seem concerned that it COULD be coffee but instead that theres dog spit on th spoon. Regardless of what it was, the OP wasnt concerned that it could be coffee, and I was commenting as to thats what I would be worried about. It's her dog,and she can feed him/her whatever she wants. It's also not so much about dog spit either, although hygiene should play a part. The point is that as I said before, there are many non dog people out there and they would cringe at seeing what she was doing. It's hard enough trying to exercise dogs legally, off leash, (I know, many of you don't like this idea either) without having to have some nitwit add more fuel to the fire to the anti dog people. seems like there is a dog person or two who are cringing at the thought of having a dog being on it's owner's knee at an outdoor cafe, being fed something off a spoon. Lucky doggy enjoying a nice day out. I'd rather have a bit of dog spit on my spoon then people spit anyday. And no one knows what was really in the cup. +1 +2
  11. Me too, dog had a pseudomonas infection and no treatment was effective so eventually surgery was the only option. In retrospect I should have done it sooner.
  12. Give it with or just after a meal.
  13. If the person from the GSCV takes him he will definitely be a house dog :)
  14. Good question Clyde, I am also happy to donate if needed.
  15. This is very typical of a Gordon, they are very smart, but can be stubborn and manipulative, they will put one over you if they can  I bet he's very talkative too :) I am so glad someone is willing to give him a chance, a massive thank you to all those who worked so hard to rescue him.
  16. Apparently only if what you learn is what you want to hear.
  17. You can have up to 4 dogs in the City of Maroondah with a permit. You need a secure run and the permission of all adjoining neighbours. There are plenty of leash free parks in the area to run your dogs. If you decide to rent I think your biggest problem will be finding a property where they will allow multiple dogs. Of course you could also buy somewhere and then find that you have a dog hating neighbour.
  18. I've received mine too thank you, how long before you started to notice a difference in your dogs Sway?
  19. Exactly! Unfortunately there is no way to make hair grow quicker. The only thing I can suggest is that you find a vet who deals with show people, follows instructions and doesn't shave unnecessarily large areas of hair, my vet takes off the absolute minimum. There is a huge difference between a vet who deals with breeders and showies on a regular basis and a 'pet vet'.
  20. I am thinking of purchasing a Snooza Orthobed for one of my oldies, does anyone have one?
  21. The whelping date is calculated from ovulation, when they were mated is irrelevant.
