  1. Sorry to hear this SL, I hope you get some answers and he is ok.
  2. Couldn't have put it better! First update, I thought she'd grown pretty. But now.... she's a knockout. I'm no help with the puppies' names. All I can think of is Lucky 1, Lucky 2, Lucky 3 etc. Lucky their mum came into your care. PS I'm wondering about a more feminine name for Gnarla, too. I've also been thinking she needs a 'nicer' name as she is so pretty..................what about Nala from the Lion King, would still sound the same for her, just looks nicer :) You have both done a wonderful job and can't wait to see the pups grow.
  3. So happy to hear she is improving! She is looking so much better and the pups look great :)
  4. Those pictures just break my heart and makes me so mad. I hope you can take the matter further as these people should never own any other animals. I hope she makes a full recovery and goes into a loving home and all the pups can pull through.
  5. We have had both types of ESS currently an almost 4yr old working/ field type, Bella. When we went looking for another dog after our show ESS passed away about 5 yrs ago we did not know there was a working/show difference untill I found the DOL site and started looking at breeders. There was a litter of Working ones almost ready to go not too far from home so we went to have a look and talk and fell in love with 9 cute puppies running around :) As TSD has said there are 2 speeds flat out running and flat out asleep well sometimes she slows down a bit. Is always eager to please and loves anyone who comes to visit. We do not do any 'formal' training with her and she doesnt get walked as much as she should as yes she isnt the easiest to walk, if we could run Im sure she would love it. We do play tracking/scent games in the yard which help stimulate and tire her out she has never been destructive apart from a couple of her beds when younger, doesnt bark too much (except at the neighbour's cats who all seem to come up the side of our driveway ) Our old boy who was a Show ESS was a lot less energetic but still very active, loved walks and playing games and was great with our children. Good luck in deciding which breed to get :)
  6. Glad you are ok and have decided to report it. I know it is a very difficult position but as someone said imagine if it hurts one of the kids/teenagers including you're own son.
  7. She really doesnt need the puppy milk at 5mths..........she also may be eating heaps of the fruit which is filling her up or making her feel unwell. And yes answer all the things Persephone asked, it will help the more experienced people give advice :)
  8. It looks lovely, we often stop there on our way through, I may even just take my girl for a drive one day as its only about an hrs drive from here.
  9. This made me have a closer look at my girl's papers...........I have looked up her sire before and found a article about him working on Macquarie Island in helping get rid of rabbits, rat, ect. She is a working ESS, now looking at her pedigree papers I looked closer at the greatgrandparents and it says one is and English Setter, I can only assume this is a clerical error as I then looked up the kennel name and they breed ESS. Not sure if I should try and contact Dogs NSW and get it fixed or double checked as it doesnt affect anything, though if she was to be used at trials ect I would think it would be important for it to be correct. Edit to add the link to the article, her sire is Glastonpark Quail http://www.glastonpark.com.au/index_files/Page2471.htm Hopefully the link works :)
  10. Yeah it is...... I think you will find the list of names not to be used are already other dogs still in active service so therefore they can't have 2 dogs with the same name
  11. I will add my Bella, she is now 3.5yr but still pretty cute
  12. I don't see it in this 1st post but have in others, the words turn blue and double underlines. I assume I have something on my computer as in a virus or pop-ups. I must try and sort it out.
  13. So sorry for you're loss, a tragedy that should never of happened. RIP Buddy
  14. Yup they go in lockdown for about a week before the show starts, they also get to take a family member or friend.........but no its not for a couple of months. Glad to hear Delilah is settling in well to her new home.
  15. I hope you and Riddick are feeling better today..................and hope the police/rangers can do something about the jerk of an owner.
  16. Hi and As has already been sugested I would stick with one pup at a time. I also think you would be better off with a medium size dog. Have you thought about a spaniel, someone has already mentioned a Cocker Spaniel.... we have an English Springer Spaniel, she is from working/field lines they are smaller and less hair than a show ESS. They are very busy little dogs our girl would run all day if she was allowed ( and if I could jog lol) she is also happy to laze around the yard when we are not with her. She weighs about 16kgs, she can pull on the lead a bit when she gets hold of a scent as they do like to follow their noses, maybe you would like to get into dog sports later on as you sound like you're very active. There are also Welsh Springer Spaniels and Brittany Spaniels. Just be aware also not to excersise a pup so much while it is still growing, you can do a lot of damage to their joints ect, it would be over a year before you could jog with any puppy usually just short walks till they finish growing. Once you decide you can go into the puppy section for lots of great advice and pictures are a must. Good luck in deciding
  17. LOL yeah I heard that too, thought it was funny, even the reporter (john Mangos) when he said whippet seemed to think twice about it but still said it, I guess the tele-prompt writer didn't know the difference :D Very glad she is doing well now :)
  18. I'm so glad she is home safe and sound! They both look so happy to be back together!
  19. If you mean the GSD in my original post.....I am in the Central West of NSW
  20. There seems to be so much of this happeneing lately. I hope you're girl will be ok GT. All I can say is make sure you report it. Our council was great in swiftly dealing with our incident.
  21. She's a cutie and looks like a bundle of mischief :)
  22. Go for it I say if its what you want. We are thinking about getting another when our son and his GF leave taking their 11mth old Lab with them ( hes been here since 8 wks). He and our 3 yr old ESS get on very well its great watching them play tug, bitey face ect, only thing is sometimes he gets a bit rough with her as size wise there is a diff ( about 16kgs) but she pulls him into line and is the boss and he knows when she has had enough. My trouble is deciding what breed to get, as she is a working line so is a very 'busy bee'. Good luck and yep loads of pictures Pom puppies are pretty darn cute :D
